Straight staircases run less than curved ones, and most of what I see in the township — including around the older sections near Harleysville and Earlington — is a mix of both. If the budget's tight, the PA Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF) has a Mini-Loan up to $7,000 at 0% interest, and a Low-Interest Loan above that at 3.75% up to $60,000 total, with no income limit attached. That covers a lot of Franconia households before Medicaid or a grant ever enters the picture.
Not really. Household income here has historically run above the county's older averages, but none of the programs that pay for a stairlift care about that on their own. The state's OPTIONS Program has no income requirement at all, just a possible sliding-scale co-pay depending on what you make, and PATF's loans are open to anyone regardless of income. I'd say check anyway — plenty of comfortable Franconia homeowners still use these.
