Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Anne Arundel County

Anne Arundel County, MD

From the on-base family housing off Mapes Road — where the 1950s brick duplexes have steep narrow staircases typical of mid-century military construction — to the off-base neighborhoods of Seven Oaks, Piney Orchard, and Odenton where federal retirees have settled in planned communities with varied split-level and colonial layouts, our crew knows every staircase geometry around the installation. We cover the MARC-adjacent housing in Odenton, the established single-family homes in Severn and Crofton, and the newer townhomes in Maryland City and Russett. We also serve Laurel, Glen Burnie, Columbia, Jessup, and Hanover at the same Anne Arundel rate — no travel surcharges in the BWI corridor.

Straight

On-base Mapes Road duplex — straight rail on steep 1950s treads

On-base family housing (Mapes Road), MD Installed March 2026

A 1950s brick duplex in the on-base family quarters off Mapes Road — steep narrow interior staircase, dark hardwood treads, tight wall clearance, and an NCO family on rotation. We cleared through Corvias with a work order, coordinated gate access, and bolted the straight rail into the original hardwood treads. The beige-upholstered seat sits unfolded at the bottom, ready for the pre-dawn shift coffee run.

Seven Oaks colonial — curved rail around the upper landing turn

Seven Oaks, MD Installed February 2026

A 1998 colonial in Seven Oaks with a staircase that bends 90 degrees at the upper landing around a half-wall balustrade — an upscale interior the retired NSA household wanted preserved. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that follows the turn exactly, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the top landing so Mr. H. steps off directly onto the upper hallway floor.

Piney Orchard townhome — straight rail in a compact stairwell beside the sideboard

Piney Orchard, MD Installed January 2026

A late-1990s Piney Orchard townhome with a compact interior staircase next to a wooden sideboard in the entryway. Stone-style tile at the base, warm traditional feel. The grandmother needed every inch of width preserved for grandchildren to still run past. We fitted the straight rail tight to the wall side, and the brown-upholstered seat folds flat when not in use so the narrow hallway stays passable.

Odenton porch — outdoor stairlift on stone-paved entry steps

Odenton, MD Installed December 2025

Mr. S. is a 91-year-old Korean War veteran who qualified for a $6,800 HISA grant through the Fort Meade VA Clinic. Raised front porch, rough natural stone paving, seven exterior steps. We anchored the outdoor rail into the stone treads with stainless-steel wedge bolts rated for freeze-thaw cycling, sealed the motor housing against nor'easter ice, and mounted the cream weather-resistant seat with a rain cover.

Severn split-level — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Severn, MD Installed November 2025

A 1980s split-level in Severn with a 13-step carpeted staircase leading up from the tiled entry floor. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones on the treads — standard mid-century residential build. We bolted the rail through the carpet and pad into the tread lumber, confirmed brackets seated flush at the landing, and ran the full test cycle in under four hours.

Platform Lift

Crofton colonial — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a three-generation home

Crofton, MD Installed October 2025

A 1990s two-story Crofton colonial where the grandfather is a full-time wheelchair user — a seated stairlift was not an option. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck, bright yellow high-visibility safety edges around the perimeter, and a white handrail along the interior stairway. The yellow edges stop the platform instantly if anything breaks the plane. Luis walked the family through every control in Spanish.

Common Questions

Everything Fort Meade Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in the Fort Meade area right now?

Straight rails in standard homes — the colonials in Seven Oaks, the townhomes in Odenton, the ranches in Severn — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the split-levels in Crofton or the L-shaped staircases in Piney Orchard run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is built to your exact stair geometry. Outdoor weather-sealed models for Anne Arundel porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different around Fort Meade than in Baltimore or DC?

Equipment prices are the same across the state. What varies is install labor for unusual conditions: older 1950s on-base family quarters with narrow stairwells, historic-banister preservation in established Odenton homes, and the nor'easter-rated outdoor kits we include as baseline on every exterior install in the BWI corridor. Every line item is disclosed upfront.

Can you work with my schedule around a DoD or NSA shift?

Yes. We routinely schedule around rotating shifts, TDYs, and leave blocks for Fort Meade military, civilian, and contractor households. Evening and weekend assessments are available at no extra charge. We send a photo ID packet in advance if your spouse or caregiver will be the on-site contact.

Any hidden fees for on-base family housing or HOA approvals?

Our quote includes the paperwork we handle for you. On-base family housing projects require a work order through Corvias Military Living — we file the request and escort the installer through the gate. For off-base HOAs in Piney Orchard or Seven Oaks, Maryland follows the federal Fair Housing Act reasonable-accommodation standard, so HOAs must approve accessibility equipment for disabled residents.

A word from Luis

Most Fort Meade families I work with are military or civilian NSA — retirees who stayed in the area after 20 or 30 years on the installation, and adult children trying to keep a parent in the home they bought on Seven Oaks Lane back in the 1990s. On-base families in Heritage Park, Patriot Ridge, and Meuse Forest deal with mid-century stair geometry: steep risers, tight wall clearance, and the Corvias work-order process before any contractor can set foot inside a gate.

My job is simple: schedule around your shift or your base access, pull the Corvias work order myself, measure once, and leave you with a written price honored for 30 days. I have cleared through the Mapes Road gate dozens of times — I know the process, I know the paperwork, and I know how to keep a project quiet and quick. En español si lo prefiere.
