Stairlift Service Across Yolo County

Yolo County, CA

From the 1910s Craftsman bungalows of Old North Davis and Central Davis — where narrow stair widths, original fir treads, and steep pitches make every install a preservation conversation — to the 1960s single-story ranches of South Davis where outdoor porch lifts outnumber interior rails, to the 1990s tract two-stories of Mace Ranch, Wildhorse, and Covell Park with wide treads that install in under three hours. We know which Old North Davis Craftsmans have the steep 40-degree pitch requiring a compact-profile rail, which Central Davis homes sit inside the city's historic preservation interest area, and that El Macero's HOA requires advance notice — we file the FEHA reasonable-accommodation packet at no charge.

Straight

Old North Davis Craftsman — straight rail on original fir treads

Old North Davis, CA Installed March 2026

A 1922 Craftsman bungalow in Old North Davis with original Douglas fir treads and dark-stained hardwood that Dr. Nguyen has maintained since retiring from the UC Davis History Department in 2019. The seat sits at the bottom landing, unfolded and ready — he rides up to the bedroom hallway and back down four times a day. We bolted the straight rail directly into the oak treads, keeping the original fir banister completely untouched. His departmental colleagues came for dinner a week later and walked past it twice without noticing.

Mace Ranch two-story — curved rail with turn at the upper landing

Mace Ranch, CA Installed February 2026

A 1998 two-story in Mace Ranch where Mrs. Swanson had a knee replacement at UC Davis Medical Center and needed the lift working before discharge. The staircase curves around a half-wall at the upper landing, opening onto the bedroom hallway. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a curved rail that bends smoothly around the balustrade, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the top floor so she steps off directly into the hallway. She rode it from the front door to her bedroom the day she came home.

Central Davis bungalow — straight rail color-matched to 1937 oak treads

Central Davis, CA Installed January 2026

A 1937 bungalow three blocks from downtown Davis with original oak treads, a narrow 28-inch stair width, and a cozy traditional interior with a wooden sideboard and potted plants near the staircase. We specified the compact-profile rail, brought finish samples to match the aged oak, and mounted the seat so it folds flush at the bottom landing next to the hallway furniture. Mrs. Feldman still hosts her book group every other Thursday — four members walked past the lift without a comment.

Outdoor

South Davis ranch — outdoor lift on stone-paved porch entry

South Davis, CA Installed December 2025

A 1967 ranch in South Davis with a raised front porch, six concrete exterior steps, and rough natural stone paving at the entry. Mr. Delgado's mother moved in after a hip fracture and could not manage the front entry. We installed a weather-sealed cream seat on an outdoor rail with UV-coated components, a heat-rated battery, and stainless fasteners rated for the Valley's 100-degree-plus summer days. The lift ran through a full Sacramento Valley summer without a service call.

Wildhorse two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Wildhorse, CA Installed November 2025

A 2001 two-story in Wildhorse where both Mr. and Mrs. Park are retired UC Davis researchers. The carpeted staircase runs from the living room to the upstairs bedrooms, and the brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones at the landing. We installed a straight rail with a soft-start motor quiet enough that neither hears it from the adjacent room and added a swivel-exit seat at the top. They ride it four times a day and say it gave them their house back.

Platform Lift

El Macero colonial — indoor wheelchair platform lift for full-time wheelchair user

El Macero, CA Installed October 2025

A 1970s colonial in the El Macero golf-course community where Mrs. Richardson transitioned to a full-time wheelchair after a spinal injury and could not transfer to a seated stairlift. We filed the FEHA reasonable-accommodation packet with the HOA, received approval within two weeks, and installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift adjacent to the existing staircase. The flat black anti-slip platform has yellow high-visibility safety edges around the perimeter, and the white handrail matches the home's interior trim. She wheels on at the ground floor, presses one button, and rolls off on the upper level.

Common Questions

Everything Davis Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Davis right now?

Straight rails in standard Davis homes — the Mace Ranch and Wildhorse two-stories, the South Davis ranches, the newer Cannery builds — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most Old North Davis and Central Davis Craftsmans with landing turns or steep mid-flight bends, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised front porches across South Davis and El Macero run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, heat-rated battery backup, and the first service visit.

Do prices change based on Davis neighborhood?

Equipment prices are the same whether you're in Old North Davis or Mace Ranch. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: narrow 27-inch stair widths in pre-war Craftsmans, original fir banister preservation, or compensating mounts for settled treads in 1940s homes. We tell you the line items on the written quote. No 'Old North premium,' no 'El Macero surcharge.'

Does UC Davis or Sutter Health offer any stairlift subsidy?

Neither UC Davis Health nor Sutter Davis Hospital offers a direct stairlift subsidy. However, if a UC Davis or Sutter physician documents the stairlift as medically necessary, the IRS classifies the full cost as a qualified medical expense under Schedule A, and California conforms on state returns. For households that itemize, that's typically $600-$2,400 back depending on your bracket. We provide the physician letter template. Separately, retired UC Davis employees with CalPERS benefits should check whether long-term care riders in their plan cover home modifications — some do.

Is financing available for Davis homeowners?

Yes — three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and low fixed-rate plans from $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull, takes about 4 minutes, and approval is usually instant. Davis families often combine financing with the Medi-Cal HCBA Waiver (which covers straight rails outright for qualifying residents) or the IRS medical deduction to bring the monthly payment below what they spend on a coffee subscription.

A word from Luis

Most Davis families call me after a fall on the front steps of a 1940s Central Davis bungalow, or after a parent who retired from UC Davis decades ago can no longer climb the stairs in the Old North house they bought in 1978. The conversation is almost always the same: they want to stay in the house, not move to University Retirement Community, and they need the stairs solved before the next Valley winter.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. CSLB-licensed under C-61/D-34 — verify us at cslb.ca.gov.
