Stairlift Service Across Centre County

Centre County, PA

From the 1960s split-levels and brick ranches in Park Forest and Park Forest Village — where half-landings and narrow stairwells are the norm — to the wider-lot colonial homes in Toftrees with open oak staircases, our crew has measured stairs in every pocket of College Township. The Nittany Mall corridor features newer two-story construction with standard straight runs. Older homes near Boalsburg off West College Avenue carry steeper treads and original hardwood that demand precise rail placement. We also serve the surrounding Lemont, Houserville, and Pine Grove Mills communities where rural farmhouse staircases run tighter and steeper than suburban builds.

Straight

Park Forest split-level — straight rail on oak treads, beige seat parked at the bottom

Park Forest, PA Installed March 2026

A 1965 split-level in Park Forest with 13 dark-stained oak treads and a 36-inch-wide stair to the upper bedrooms. We laser-measured the run, bolted the rail through the treads (not the wall — drywall stays intact), and finished in three hours. The cream-upholstered seat parks at the bottom, leaving the entry hallway clear when Mr. Kowalski's grandkids visit from Altoona.

Boalsburg corridor colonial — curved rail with 90° turn at the upper landing

Boalsburg corridor, PA Installed February 2026

A two-story colonial near Boalsburg with eight oak treads to a 90-degree upper landing, then six more to the bedrooms. We digitally scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail laser-measured for that exact turn, and parked the brown-seat unit at the upper landing. The rail threads past the original oak newel post without touching it. Curved rails start at $9,000.

Lemont Historic District cottage — straight rail on stone-tile treads beside an oak sideboard

Lemont Historic District, PA Installed January 2026

A compact 1880s cottage in the Lemont Historic District with light flagstone treads worn smooth by four generations. The narrow stairwell runs ten treads to the upper bedroom — no room to widen it. We bolted a slim-profile rail to the stone treads with masonry anchors. The brown seat parks at the bottom next to the Wagners' walnut sideboard, leaving the hallway tight but passable.

Park Forest Village ranch — outdoor IP55 lift on raised concrete porch entry

Park Forest Village, PA Installed December 2025

A ranch in Park Forest Village with seven poured-concrete porch steps to the front door. The cream weather-sealed seat parks at the bottom step on the flagstone landing. Every component is freeze-thaw rated, IP55-sealed against Centre County snow and ice melt, and corrosion-protected for the rock salt thrown on the steps every winter. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000.

Nittany Mall area home — straight rail on carpeted stairs near the upper landing

Nittany Mall area, PA Installed November 2025

A two-story home near the Nittany Mall corridor with warm-tan carpeted treads and a tile floor at the base. The brown seat color matches the carpet — a request from the Patels to keep the staircase looking the same. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath; no pile damage, no carpet removal. Folded flat, the unit takes 11 inches of stair width.

Houserville, PA Installed October 2025

A Houserville home where Mr. Carter rides a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal injury at Fort Indiantown Gap. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: flat black deck rated to 600 lb, yellow safety edges on every threshold, white handrail, keyed lockout for grandkids. Common Questions

Everything College Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in College, PA?

Straight rails in College homes — the Park Forest split-levels, the Toftrees colonials, the newer builds near the Nittany Mall corridor — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the older two-story homes along West College Avenue or near Boalsburg with landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase's exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are College prices different from State College or Bellefonte?

Equipment prices are identical across Centre County — we do not adjust based on township or borough. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: steep pre-war treads in the Boalsburg corridor, half-landing split-levels common in Park Forest, or the wider-footprint staircases in Toftrees colonials. Those are measurement variables, not upcharges. We list every line item on the written quote so you see exactly what you're paying for.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Relocation costs in Centre County — real estate commission, closing costs, moving crew, deposits — run $15,000 to $30,000 minimum, and inventory in the State College market is tight for single-story homes. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you have lived in for decades, near your doctors at Mount Nittany Medical Center and your community. For most College families the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing for College homeowners?

Yes. We offer 12-month interest-free financing and extended terms up to 60 months starting at $79 per month for a standard straight install. Approval takes minutes during the in-home visit. We also help you stack financing with VA HISA, Community HealthChoices, or Centre County Office of Aging assistance so you pay the lowest possible out-of-pocket.

A word from Luis

College families usually reach out after a close call on the stairs — a retired Penn State professor whose knees gave out on the split-level in Toftrees, a widow in Park Forest whose daughter in Philadelphia worries every time it snows, a veteran recovering from surgery at the Altoona VA who hasn't been upstairs in two months.

I drive out, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote good for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
