Stairlift Service Across Montgomery County

Montgomery County, MD

Battery Park generates the most stairlift calls per household in Bethesda — 1920s–1950s colonials and Tudor revivals with original oak treads and turned banisters. The rail bolts into the treads and never touches the banister. We’ve installed in over 25 Battery Park homes.

Edgemoor has Bethesda’s most prominent homes — center-hall colonials with formal curved staircases larger than Battery Park stock. Most Edgemoor installs are curved rails threaded past original millwork.

Greenwich Forest is the protected historic enclave — homes built 1926–1949. Narrow Cape Cod stair runs and low-clearance landings require our compact-profile rail.

Bradley Hills, Wyngate, and Huntington Terrace are the quiet blocks south and west of downtown — colonials, ramblers, and split-levels from the 1950s–1960s. Split-levels with mid-landing turns are our most common curved-rail install here.

1942 Battery Park colonial — straight rail on original oak treads

Battery Park, MD Installed March 2026

A 1942 colonial on a tree-lined block in Battery Park with original quarter-sawn oak treads and a turned banister that Mrs. Whitfield’s late husband had refinished in 2011. Her daughter called from San Francisco after Mrs. Whitfield stopped going upstairs entirely following a knee replacement at Suburban Hospital. We measured the straight run — 15 feet from the front hall to the second-floor landing — bolted the rail directly into the oak treads without touching the banister or the wall, and color-matched the rail finish to the existing oak. The beige seat folds flat against the wall at the bottom landing. Her daughter flew in two weeks later and said the foyer looked exactly the same from the front door.

Edgemoor center-hall colonial — curved rail threaded past original millwork

Edgemoor, MD Installed February 2026

A 1936 center-hall colonial off Old Georgetown Road in Edgemoor with a formal curved staircase, original walnut millwork, and a chandelier in the two-story foyer. Mrs. Stafford’s first words on the phone were ‘the staircase is the house — do not ruin it.’ We digitally scanned the entire run during the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that follows the 90-degree turn at the upper landing without touching a single piece of the original walnut trim, and mounted the brown-upholstered seat so it parks flush at the top-floor hallway. She steps off onto the hardwood floor, not the top tread. Her garden club met in the foyer three weeks later and two members walked past the lift without noticing it.

1946 Greenwich Forest Cape Cod — compact rail in a narrow stairwell

Greenwich Forest, MD Installed January 2026

A 1946 Cape Cod in Greenwich Forest — one of the historic-trust-protected homes less than a mile from the Bethesda Metro. The staircase is 28 inches wide with low clearance at the top landing. Mr. Abrams had been sleeping in the first-floor den for two months after a fall. We specified the compact-profile rail — only 11 inches from wall to outer edge of the folded seat — bolted it into the original treads next to a wooden sideboard in the hallway, and ran the power line to the nearest outlet. The seat parks flat against the sideboard at the bottom. Mr. Abrams slept in his own bedroom that night for the first time since Thanksgiving.

Huntington Terrace raised entry — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving steps

Huntington Terrace, MD Installed December 2025

A 1955 colonial in Huntington Terrace with a raised front entry, six exterior stone paving steps from the front walk to the covered porch, and no handrail on the left side. Colonel Morrison (Ret.) spent 28 years at Walter Reed and qualified for a HISA grant through the VA Maryland Health Care System. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came from his WRNMMC provider in three weeks, and installation was authorized the week after. The cream-upholstered outdoor seat is sealed against Maryland’s 70–85% summer humidity, UV-coated for the mid-Atlantic sun, and mounted on stainless-steel brackets anchored directly into the stone paving. It has run through a full summer of Potomac humidity and a February ice storm without a service call.

Wyngate split-level — straight rail on carpeted stairs, swivel-exit seat

Wyngate, MD Installed November 2025

A 1962 split-level in Wyngate with wall-to-wall carpet on the upper flight from the main level to the bedrooms. Mrs. Kaplan had a hip replacement at Suburban Hospital and her orthopedist required that she not bear full weight on the stairs for six weeks. Her son drove up from Virginia to meet us at the house. We bolted the rail through the carpet and pad directly into the plywood subfloor — the carpet sits flat around the brackets with no bunching or trip hazard. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones. A swivel-exit seat rotates at the top so she steps off onto the hallway landing instead of the top tread, which was the surgeon’s requirement.

Platform Lift

Downtown Bethesda high-rise — indoor wheelchair platform at the split-level garage entry

Downtown Bethesda, MD Installed October 2025

The Chens’ father uses a power wheelchair and their Woodmont Avenue high-rise condo has a split-level entry from the parking garage to the lobby elevator corridor — four steps that a wheelchair cannot navigate. The condo board required 30 days’ written notice, hallway protection mats, and freight elevator access. We coordinated all of it through the concierge desk, installed an inclined platform lift with a flat anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides, and a white safety rail along the interior stairway wall. The orange-tinted lobby walls frame the lift at the landing. Mr. Chen rolls on, presses one button, and rolls off at the upper corridor.

Common Questions

Everything Bethesda Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Bethesda right now?

Straight rails in standard Bethesda homes — the Battery Park colonials, the Greenwich Forest capes, the Wyngate ramblers — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for most Edgemoor center-hall staircases and Bradley Hills split-levels with mid-landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised-entry homes and front-porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Bethesda than the rest of Montgomery County?

Equipment prices are the same countywide — an Edgemoor colonial gets the same quote as a Germantown split-level. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: threading a curved rail past original millwork in a 1930s Battery Park Tudor, pulling a dedicated electrical circuit in a pre-1960 Greenwich Forest cape, or coordinating condo-board access in a downtown Bethesda high-rise that requires written notice and hallway protection. We itemize every line on the quote. No ‘Bethesda premium’ surprises.

Is there a charge for the in-home assessment?

Zero. The home assessment is free, takes about 45 minutes, and comes with a written quote honored for 30 days. We laser-measure your staircase, check the electrical outlet situation (older Bethesda homes often lack an outlet within six feet of the stairs), and photograph the treads and landing for the fabrication team. If you need a curved rail, the digital scan happens during the same visit — no second appointment. No obligation, no deposit, no credit card.

Any additional fees for high-rise condo installs in downtown Bethesda?

Our quote includes the condo-board paperwork we prepare for you. We have worked with management offices at the Adagio, the Darcy, the Lauren, and other buildings along Wisconsin Avenue and Woodmont Avenue. Maryland Condominium Act and Fair Housing Act reasonable-accommodation letters are already templated. If a board requires its own engineer’s review or restricts hallway access to specific hours, we tell you before we start — not after.

A word from Luis

Most Bethesda families call me after the conversation they’ve been putting off — a parent who stopped going upstairs in a Battery Park colonial three months ago, a retired colonel near Walter Reed whose wife fell on the landing of their Edgemoor center-hall, a daughter in San Francisco who just realized her mother hasn’t opened the second-floor shutters in the Greenwich Forest cape since January.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
