Stairlift Service Across Arlington County

Arlington County, VA

Lyon Village and Cherrydale bungalows from the 1920s–40s have narrow, steep stairs with original Craftsman woodwork — the rail bolts into treads without touching the banister or plaster. Ashton Heights colonials add a half-landing turn that requires curved-rail fabrication. Along the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and in Crystal City, condo installations need board approval; we carry Fair Housing documentation for most major buildings. Columbia Pike duplexes and garden-style condos typically have carpeted stairs with standard straight-rail geometry. Ballston’s mid-rise buildings often require weekend scheduling around building rules. Every Arlington neighborhood gets the same 24-hour assessment and same-week install window.

Dark oak stairs in a Lyon Village bungalow — beige seat, original banister preserved

Lyon Village, VA Installed March 2026

A 1928 Lyon Village bungalow with dark hardwood oak stairs, an original Craftsman banister, and a warm indoor palette of wood tones and plaster walls. Col. Morrison (Ret.) was clear that nothing could touch the original woodwork. We matched the beige seat to the warm oak tones, bolted the rail into the treads using backing plates for the century-old wood, and parked the chair at the bottom landing. His wife said the stairlift is less visible than the reading lamp.

90° curved rail in a Clarendon colonial — brown seat at the upper landing

Clarendon, VA Installed February 2026

A 1942 Clarendon colonial with an L-shaped staircase, a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, and a pendant light that hung directly in the rail path. We digitally scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that clears the pendant with three inches to spare, and mounted the brown upholstered seat so it parks flush at the upper landing. Mr. Holloway — a retired Pentagon civilian — swivels and steps onto the hallway hardwood. The VA HISA grant through the DC VA covered most of the cost.

Stone-tile treads in a Cherrydale cottage — compact rail beside the entry sideboard

Cherrydale, VA Installed January 2026

A renovated 1930s Cherrydale cottage with stone tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that Mrs. Waverly inherited from her mother. We mounted the brown-upholstered seat on the compact-profile rail, positioned the lower park so the folded chair clears the sideboard by two inches, and drilled into the stone with masonry anchors. The cottage character is completely preserved. Her neighbor walked in the next day and didn’t notice the rail until Mrs. Waverly demonstrated it.

Outdoor

Outdoor rail on stone paving at an Ashton Heights raised entry

Ashton Heights, VA Installed December 2025

The Parks’ Ashton Heights home has a raised front entry with stone paving and five exterior steps that ice over every January. We installed the cream-colored outdoor seat on a hot-dip galvanized rail anchored into the stone, fitted the freeze-thaw gasket kit, and added a weather hood over the joystick. Mr. Park — a retired Army officer — has ridden it through the entire 2025–2026 winter including the January ice event that shut down half of Northern Virginia.

Carpeted stairs in a Columbia Pike duplex — swivel seat at the landing

Columbia Pike, VA Installed November 2025

A 1955 Columbia Pike duplex — now a condo — with 12 carpeted treads and a residential landing at the top. Mrs. Torres is a retired federal employee who has lived in the unit since 1987. We installed the brown-upholstered seat with the swivel-exit feature so the chair rotates 90 degrees at the upper landing, letting her stand on the hallway carpet instead of the top step. The condo board approved in four days using our standard Fair Housing documentation packet.

Platform Lift

Indoor platform lift with yellow safety edges for a Crystal City veteran

Crystal City, VA Installed October 2025

Mr. Chen is a disabled veteran who uses a power wheelchair and needed access between the main floor and the upstairs bedrooms of his Crystal City townhouse. We installed an inclined platform lift on the indoor stairway with a flat deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides. The platform folds against the wall when not in use so the stairs stay passable for his wife and visiting family. The DC VA processed his HISA grant in five weeks.

Common Questions

Everything Arlington Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Arlington right now?

Straight rails in standard Arlington homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails — needed for Lyon Village bungalow turns, Clarendon colonial landings, and Crystal City townhouse geometry — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-manufactured. Outdoor models with freeze-thaw-rated hardware run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different for condos vs. single-family homes?

Equipment and install pricing are identical. What’s different is the timeline — condo board approval can add 1–4 weeks depending on the building. The approval process costs you nothing extra. We provide the documentation packet and follow up with the property manager.

Do you charge extra for the freeze-thaw hardware on outdoor installs?

No. Every outdoor install in Arlington ships with hot-dip galvanized bracket hardware, sealed neoprene washers, and stainless fasteners as the Northern Virginia default. The D.C. metro’s freeze-thaw cycling cracks standard powder-coated hardware within a few winters. Our spec is the baseline.

Is there a premium for condo board paperwork?

No. The Fair Housing Act documentation — equipment specs, installer insurance certificates, structural load statement — is included at no charge on every Arlington condo assessment. We carry templates for most major Arlington buildings in the Ballston, Rosslyn, Crystal City, and Columbia Pike corridors.

A word from Luis

Arlington is a county of two staircase worlds. The 1920s–1940s bungalows in Lyon Village, Cherrydale, and Ashton Heights have narrow, steep stairs with original woodwork that nobody wants drilled into. The high-rise condos along the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and Crystal City have common-area stairs that need condo board approval before we touch a tread.

I’ve done both — hundreds of times. Get to the house or condo within 24 hours, measure once, hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. The DC VA Medical Center is 10 minutes away and I’ve handled HISA paperwork for dozens of federal retirees and military veterans in this county. If you’re calling because your mother slipped last week, don’t wait another week. The assessment is free and I’ll tell you exactly what you need — nothing more.
