Stairlift Service Across Prince George's County

Prince George's County, MD

From the mid-century split-levels and colonials in Adelphi Hills with their finished basements and L-shaped staircases, to the brick ramblers and Cape Cods along Cool Spring Terrace near Lane Manor Recreational Park, our crew has measured staircases in every subdivision of Adelphi. Buck Lodge homes near the northern boundary sit on larger lots with standard straight-run interior stairs and raised front entries that often need outdoor rail solutions. The Knollwood subdivision west of Adelphi Road features wooded lots and single-family homes with wider treads and open stairwells. Holly Hill Manor and Chatham offer compact two-story townhomes where slim-profile rails keep the passage clear for other household members. Along Riggs Road and University Boulevard, older ranch conversions with added second floors present steeper-than-standard stairways that demand precise motor calibration.

1962 colonial in Adelphi Hills — straight rail on carpeted treads next to family photos

Adelphi Hills, MD Installed March 2026

A two-story colonial in Adelphi Hills with 13 carpeted treads and a standard 36-inch-wide staircase lined with family photos on both walls. Mrs. Washington had been sleeping in the living room recliner for a month after her knee replacement at MedStar. We laser-measured the run, bolted the rail through the carpet into the wooden treads, and installed a brown-upholstered seat that matches the hallway decor. Folded, the seat and rail take up 11 inches, leaving 25 inches of clear passage. Mrs. Washington slept in her own bed that night.

Buck Lodge split-level — curved rail connecting two short flights through mid-landing

Buck Lodge, MD Installed February 2026

A 1965 split-level in Buck Lodge with seven steps from the front entry to a mid-landing, then six more steps to the upper bedrooms. Mr. Fletcher served 24 years in the Navy and his VA provider at the Southern Prince George's County VA Clinic wrote the HISA prescription. We digitally scanned both runs on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries him from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread. The HISA grant covered $6,800 of the total cost.

Cool Spring Terrace rambler — straight rail on narrow hardwood treads

Cool Spring Terrace, MD Installed January 2026

A 1950s brick rambler on Cool Spring Terrace with a converted second floor added in the 1980s and a narrow 30-inch-wide staircase with original hardwood treads. Mrs. Martinez's daughter in Silver Spring called after her mother slipped on the second step and bruised her shoulder. We installed a slim-profile rail that takes up only 11 inches when folded, leaving 19 inches of clear passage. Luis conducted the entire assessment in Spanish and left a Spanish-language manual next to the controls. Mrs. Martinez rides it four times a day without help.

Outdoor

Holly Hill Manor townhome — outdoor lift on raised concrete front entry

Holly Hill Manor, MD Installed December 2025

A two-story townhome in Holly Hill Manor with six poured-concrete front steps leading to the main entry. Mrs. Thompson hadn't used her own front door in three months — her son had been bringing groceries through the back patio slider. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat sits at the bottom step, ready when she comes home from errands. Every component is UV-stabilized for Mid-Atlantic sun, sealed against Chesapeake-region humidity, and carries marine-grade corrosion protection for year-round outdoor exposure.

Knollwood home — straight rail on wide oak treads, same-week install

Knollwood, MD Installed November 2025

A single-family home in the Knollwood subdivision with wide oak treads and an open stairwell. Mr. Rodriguez's daughter in Atlanta called on a Wednesday, we measured Thursday morning, and the install crew arrived Friday afternoon. The rail mounts flush against the wall on the right side, leaving the left banister fully open. The swivel seat at the top lets Mr. Rodriguez step off onto the hardwood landing facing the upstairs hallway. He was riding it by Friday evening.

Platform Lift

Chatham townhome — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Chatham, MD Installed October 2025

A two-story townhome in the Chatham subdivision where Mr. King uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury during his Army service. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered $6,800 and the Maryland Accessible Homes program covered the remaining balance. Mr. King rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Adelphi Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Adelphi, MD?

Straight rails in Adelphi homes — the colonials in Adelphi Hills, the ramblers along Cool Spring Terrace, the townhomes in Holly Hill Manor — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the split-levels near Buck Lodge or Knollwood homes with landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase's exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Adelphi prices different from Silver Spring or College Park?

Equipment prices are identical across the D.C. metro — we do not adjust based on ZIP code. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: narrow treads in 1950s Cape Cods, raised concrete entries common in Cool Spring Terrace, and the humidity-rated lubricant we spec as standard on every Adelphi install. Those are baseline specs, not upcharges. We list every line item on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Relocation costs in Prince George's County — real estate commission, closing costs, moving crew, new deposits — run $18,000 to $35,000 minimum given the D.C.-area housing market. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you've lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, close to your doctors and the University of Maryland campus. For most Adelphi families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing for Adelphi homeowners?

Yes. We offer 12-month interest-free financing and extended terms up to 60 months starting at $79 per month for a standard straight install. Approval takes minutes during the in-home visit. We also help you stack financing with VA HISA, Maryland Accessible Homes grants, or Medicaid waiver assistance so you pay the lowest possible out-of-pocket.

A word from Luis

Adelphi families usually call after a fall or a close call on the stairs — a grandmother who slipped on the carpet runner in a Buck Lodge split-level, a father recovering from knee replacement at MedStar who hasn't been upstairs in six weeks, a daughter in Silver Spring worried about her parents in a 1960s colonial on University Boulevard they've lived in for 40 years.

I drive out, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote good for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
