Stairlift Service Across Delaware County

Delaware County, PA

Stairlift installs in Yeadon run into the same two housing patterns every time. First: the 1920s–1940s twins that dominate the Church Lane Historic District, Bullock Avenue, and Bonsall Avenue corridors — straight staircases, 36-inch treads, hardwood or tile. A straight rail goes in quick here, usually 3 hours. Second: the larger Colonials and Dutch Colonials along Cobbs Creek Parkway and up near Providence Road, where curved landings and half-walls mean custom-measured rails. The MacDade Boulevard commercial strip has apartments above storefronts with unusually steep back staircases — another challenge we see regularly. Chester Avenue and Baily Road round out the residential core, with a mix of 1930s singles and twins.

Common Questions

Everything Yeadon Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Yeadon, PA?

A straight stairlift in Yeadon starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, which require custom rail fabrication after a laser measurement on site, start at $9,000. Outdoor units for porch or stoop installs start at $4,000, and heavy-duty models rated to 600 pounds start at $5,050. The final number depends on your staircase — a straight 12-foot run on a Bullock Avenue twin runs at the base price, while a curved Colonial near Cobbs Creek Parkway with a 90-degree landing turn runs higher. Financing starts at $79/month.

How much is a curved stairlift in Yeadon compared to a straight one?

Curved lifts start at $9,000 versus $2,800 for a straight rail. The price difference comes from the custom fabrication — every curved rail is bent to your exact stair turn after a 1-hour laser measurement. Yeadon has a lot of Dutch Colonials with 90-degree turns at the upper landing, especially near Providence Road and along Church Lane. Those homes almost always need curved rails. Straight twins on Bonsall or Bullock, by contrast, use a standard rail that ships same-week.

Are there any hidden fees with Yeadon stairlift installation?

No. The quote Luis gives you at the in-home assessment is the price you pay. It covers the rail, the seat unit, the installation labor, and the first year of service. No extra charges for stair width, tread material, or electrical work — the lift plugs into a standard wall outlet. If your Yeadon home has particularly steep back stairs like some of the apartments above MacDade Boulevard storefronts, Luis will flag any complications during the measure, before you commit.

Does insurance cover stairlift costs in Yeadon, Delaware County?

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover stairlifts — they're classified as home modifications, not medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Pennsylvania offer a home accessibility benefit. Pennsylvania's Community HealthChoices (CHC) Waiver, administered by the Office of Long-Term Living, can cover home modifications including stairlifts for eligible Medicaid recipients. The OPTIONS program through Delaware County COSA (610-490-1300) also helps residents 60 and older with home accessibility needs. The Delaware County Whole Home Repair Program offers up to $50,000 for income-qualified homeowners — accessibility modifications qualify.

A word from Luis

I've done over 80 installs in Yeadon since 2018, and the housing stock here is genuinely its own thing. Most of these homes went up between 1920 and 1950 — twins, Dutch Colonials, the occasional Victorian — and the staircases reflect that era. Thirty-six-inch-wide treads were standard then, which is fine until someone needs a lift. A straight rail on a Church Lane twin takes me about three hours. The curved jobs up near Cobbs Creek Parkway, where some of those older Colonials have a 90-degree turn at the landing, run closer to six.

The other thing about Yeadon is the weather. Sixteen inches of snow a year isn't North Dakota, but it's enough that outdoor installs need IP55-rated rails and sealed motor housings. I've put outdoor units on porches near Bonsall Avenue and along Providence Road — they hold up through February just fine. For indoor installs on carpeted stairs around Bullock or Chester, the rail bolts directly to the treads. No drywall work, no rewiring. You plug it in, test it, and go.

— Luis Ramírez, Yeadon
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Yeadon's the kind of borough where someone's lived in the same twin home on Bullock Avenue since 1962, and they're not leaving just because the stairs got difficult. We get that. The install doesn't tear up your walls or take a week — we bolt to the treads, plug it in, and you're using it the same afternoon. Whether you're on Church Lane in a 1930s Dutch Colonial or out near Cobbs Creek in a split-level with an outdoor stoop, there's a rail that fits.

Call the Delaware County Wellness Center at 125 Chester Avenue to ask about the OPTIONS program through COSA, or contact the Philadelphia VA Medical Center on Woodland Avenue if you're a veteran looking at HISA. Luis handles every Yeadon assessment himself — same guy from measure to install.
