Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Delaware County

Delaware County, PA

Ridley Township covers a dense patch of southeastern Delaware County, with Folsom and Woodlyn as its two census-designated places and Crum Lynne, Holmes, and portions of Secane rounding out the unincorporated communities. Swarthmorewood — a subdivision of twin homes built around 1956 — sits at the northern edge. The borough of Ridley Park, a separate municipality with its Victorian Historic District and Ridley Lake, is surrounded by the township on three sides. Leedom Estates, founded 1867 along I-95, has its own park and a mix of prewar and mid-century homes. Most of the staircases I work on here fall into two categories: the straight 12-to-14-step flights in the 1950s twins and split-levels, and the steeper original staircases in Ridley Park's century-old Victorians.

Common Questions

Everything Ridley Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Ridley, PA?

A straight stairlift in Ridley starts at $2,800 installed. Curved rails start at $9,000 — the price goes up with the number of turns. Outdoor units start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models for 600-pound capacity start at $5,050. All prices include the assessment, rail, carriage, seat, delivery, installation, and a 5-year warranty. Financing runs $79/month. No hidden charges — you get the final number at the in-home measurement, not after.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more than straight ones in Ridley homes?

A curved rail is bent to match your exact staircase after a 1-hour laser measurement. The Ridley Park Victorians and Holmes split-levels with 90-degree landings need custom fabrication — the rail isn't cut from stock. Manufacturing takes 2-3 weeks. The motor and carriage have to handle the additional friction of curved travel. Straight rails ship from inventory and go in same-week.

Are there any hidden fees with stairlift installation in Ridley Township?

No. The price quoted at the in-home assessment is the final price. It covers the rail, carriage, seat, installation labor, and removal of packaging. If your Ridley Park Victorian needs a longer rail than standard (15 feet or more), that's included in the quote — not billed as an add-on. The only variable is if you add options like a power swivel seat or a second remote.

Does insurance cover stairlift installation in Ridley, PA?

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover stairlifts — they classify them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Pennsylvania include a home-modification benefit; call the number on the back of your card to check. Pennsylvania Medicaid through Community HealthChoices can cover stairlifts under the HCBS waiver if a clinical assessment shows medical necessity. VA HISA grants cover up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans. We help you sort through which path applies at the assessment.

A word from Luis

I've done more installs in Ridley Township than anywhere else in Delaware County. The housing stock here is a real mix — you've got 1950s twins in Swarthmorewood with narrow 32-inch staircases, split-levels in Woodlyn where the landing does a 180, and those tall Victorian stairs in Ridley Park that go straight up three floors. Each one needs a different approach.

The Ridley Park Victorians near the lake are some of my favorite jobs. The original wood treads are usually in great shape — a century of quality lumber. We bolt straight to the treads, no wall drilling, so the plaster and trim stay untouched. Over in Folsom, the brick twins from the '40s and '50s have tighter turns at the landing. I measure everything twice before ordering the rail.

One thing I tell every family here: MacDade Boulevard puts you 15 minutes from the Delaware County VA Clinic in Newtown Square. If you're a veteran, don't leave that HISA grant money on the table — $6,800 can cover the whole straight-rail install with battery backup. I help with the paperwork at the assessment.

— Luis Ramírez, Ridley
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Whether you're in a Folsom brick twin where the staircase runs narrow and straight, or a three-story Victorian in Ridley Park with original oak treads, the install follows the same pattern — we show up, measure, and three hours later the rail is bolted to the treads and plugged into a standard outlet. No drywall work, no rewiring, no contractor crew. Just Luis and the rail.

Ridley sits 10 miles from Philadelphia, with the Delaware County VA Clinic on West Chester Pike in Newtown Square about 15 minutes up the road. Between the HISA grant for veterans, Community HealthChoices for Medicaid-eligible residents, and the PA Accessible Housing Grant, most Ridley families have at least one funding path. Call us at the assessment stage — we walk you through which one fits.
