Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Delaware County

Delaware County, PA

Ridley Township covers a dense patch of southeastern Delaware County, with Folsom and Woodlyn as its two census-designated places and Crum Lynne, Holmes, and part of Secane rounding out the unincorporated communities. Swarthmorewood — a subdivision of twin homes built around 1956 — sits at the northern edge with staircases that often run as narrow as 32 inches. The borough of Ridley Park, with its Victorian Historic District and Ridley Lake, is wrapped by the township on three sides; those tall original-oak stairs take a straight rail bolted to the treads. Leedom and Milmont Park mix prewar and mid-century homes, where steep front stoops are common candidates for an outdoor lift. We also serve Eddystone, Norwood, Prospect Park, and Glenolden nearby.

Straight

Folsom — straight rail on original oak treads

Folsom, PA Installed March 2026

A 1950s brick twin on a quiet Folsom side street with a straight 13-step oak staircase, 34 inches wide. The Gallaghers needed access to the upstairs bathroom after a knee replacement. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing; the rail bolted to the treads in three hours with no wall drilling and the plaster untouched.

Curved

Ridley Park — curved rail parked at the upper landing

Ridley Park, PA Installed February 2026

A Victorian near Ridley Lake with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing under a hallway chandelier. The staircase runs seven steps, hits a flat landing, then continues. Laser-measured on site, the rail was fabricated to the exact turn radius and the brown seat parks at the top floor, clear of the hallway.

Woodlyn — compact straight rail on stone-faced treads

Woodlyn, PA Installed January 2026

A compact split-level in Woodlyn with stone-faced treads and a narrow hallway at the base, near a wooden sideboard. The 12-step straight flight runs just 31 inches wide. The perch-seat option saved two inches on the folded width so the hallway stays passable for the rest of the family.

Outdoor

Leedom — outdoor rail on a stone-paved porch

Leedom, PA Installed April 2026

A prewar home in Leedom with a rough stone-paved front porch — eight steps up from the flagstone walk. We mounted an IP55-sealed outdoor rail with weather-sealed stainless hardware. The porch faces east and takes morning sun and afternoon rain, so corrosion resistance matters through Ridley's freeze-thaw winters.

Holmes — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Holmes, PA Installed December 2025

A 1960s split-level in Holmes with wall-to-wall beige carpet on a 14-step straight flight, standard 36-inch width. The brown seat was matched to the carpet tones, and the rail mounted to the treads without disturbing the carpet — done before Christmas so Mrs. Evans could join the holiday dinner upstairs.

Platform Lift

Crum Lynne — indoor wheelchair platform lift

Crum Lynne, PA Installed May 2026

A straight indoor staircase in a Crum Lynne row home where the Mitchells' son uses a manual wheelchair and needed the second-floor bathroom. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges, a white handrail alongside the track, and a deck that folds up vertically so the rest of the family still uses the stairs.

Common Questions

Everything Ridley Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Ridley, PA?

A straight stairlift in Ridley starts at $2,800 installed. Curved rails start at $9,000 — the price climbs with the number of turns. Outdoor units start at $4,000, and heavy-duty models rated for 600 pounds start at $5,050.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more than straight ones in Ridley homes?

A curved rail is bent to match your exact staircase after a one-hour laser measurement. The Ridley Park Victorians and Holmes split-levels with 90-degree landings need custom fabrication — the rail isn't cut from stock, so it costs more than an off-the-shelf straight rail.

Are there any hidden fees with stairlift installation in Ridley Township?

No. The price quoted at the in-home assessment is the final price. It covers the rail, carriage, seat, installation labor, and removal of packaging. We don't charge travel or trip fees in Delaware County.

Does insurance cover stairlift installation in Ridley, PA?

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover stairlifts — it classifies them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Pennsylvania include a home-modification benefit, so check your specific plan.

A word from Luis

I've done more installs in Ridley Township than anywhere else in Delaware County. The housing stock here is a real mix — 1950s twins in Swarthmorewood with narrow 32-inch staircases, split-levels in Woodlyn where the landing does a 180, and the tall Victorian stairs in Ridley Park near the lake that go straight up three floors. Each one needs a different approach.

The Ridley Park Victorians are some of my favorite jobs. The original oak treads are usually in great shape — a century of quality lumber. We bolt straight to the treads, no wall drilling, so the plaster and trim stay untouched. Over in Folsom, the brick twins from the '40s and '50s have tighter turns at the landing, so I measure twice before ordering any rail.

One thing I tell every veteran family here: MacDade Boulevard puts you about 15 minutes from the Delaware County VA Clinic in Newtown Square. Don't leave that HISA grant money on the table — $6,800 can cover a whole straight-rail install with battery backup. I help with the paperwork right at the assessment.

Luis Ramírez, Ridley
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Ridley sits about 11 miles southwest of Center City Philadelphia, with the Delaware County VA Clinic on West Chester Pike in Newtown Square roughly 15 minutes up MacDade Boulevard. Between the HISA grant for veterans, Community HealthChoices for Medicaid-eligible residents, and the PA Accessible Housing Grant, most Ridley families have at least one funding path.

Call us at the assessment stage — we walk you through which one fits, measure the staircase, and give you a flat local price with no travel fees. Most straight rails are installed the same week.
