Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Miami-Dade County

Miami-Dade County, FL

Westwood Lakes spans roughly a square mile between SW 40th Street and SW 56th Street, from the Florida Turnpike east to SW 102nd Avenue. The Tropical Estates area along SW 48th Street sits near the community park and public pool. Lakefront properties wrap around Westwood Lake South, the 61-acre lake at the center of the CDP. Homes along the Bird Road corridor tend to be the Mackle-built originals from 1955 — compact ranches with the original hardwood treads still in place. We also serve bordering communities: Westchester to the north, Olympia Heights to the east, Kendale Lakes to the south, and Tamiami just across the Turnpike.

Common Questions

Everything Westwood Lakes Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Westwood Lakes?

A straight stairlift in Westwood Lakes starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts — common in the larger homes near the lakes and along SW 56th Street — start at $9,000. Outdoor porch lifts start at $4,000. The price includes the on-site measurement, the rail, the seat, installation, and a lifetime warranty on the rail. Most Mackle-built originals from the 1950s take a straight rail at the lower end of the price range.

Is financing available for Westwood Lakes residents?

Yes. Financing starts at $79 per month. We run applications during the in-home assessment — most Westwood Lakes homeowners hear back within 10 minutes. No prepayment penalty, no balloon payment.

Does the $2,800 price include installation and the rail?

Yes. The $2,800 straight-lift price covers the full install — the rail, the seat, the labor, and a 5-year parts warranty plus a lifetime rail warranty. We don't separate the install fee from the equipment cost. If your Westwood Lakes home has a landing turn, you're looking at a curved lift from $9,000, which also includes the laser measurement, fabrication, and full installation.

What makes a curved stairlift more expensive in Westwood Lakes?

Every curved rail is a one-off — bent to your staircase after a laser measurement that maps every tread and the exact turn radius. The larger lots near Westwood Lake South and the expanded ranches off SW 48th Street often have staircases with a mid-flight landing or a 90-degree turn at the top. The fabrication alone takes 2-3 weeks after measurement. The measurement visit takes about an hour and is free.

A word from Luis

Westwood Lakes is one of those Miami-Dade pockets where people don't leave. I've put lifts into Mackle-built ranch homes from 1955 where the original owner still lives, and into renovated three-bedrooms where a younger family just moved in to be near the grandparents. The homes here share a common build pattern — the staircase almost always runs up one side of the living area, usually with a turn at the landing. Straight rail fits about two-thirds of these houses. The rest need a curved rail bent after our laser measurement, which takes about an hour on site.

The freshwater lakes give this neighborhood its character, but they also mean the water table is high and the ground settles over time. I always double-check the tread leveling on older homes off SW 48th Street and near Westwood Lake South — a 70-year-old staircase can shift enough to throw off a rail fit by a quarter inch. We correct for it during the install, takes an extra 20 minutes, no added charge.

If you're near Tropical Estates Park or over by the Turnpike side, give me a call. I know these houses. I know which staircases need a short rail, which ones need the 16-footer, and which Mackle originals still have the original oak treads solid enough to bolt into without reinforcement.

— Luis Ramírez, Westwood Lakes
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Westwood Lakes has been a quiet anchor in west Miami-Dade since the Mackle brothers finished their first 150 homes in 1955. The neighborhood hasn't changed much — still the same freshwater lakes, still the same mature oaks shading SW 48th Street, still the same families passing houses down instead of selling. When a staircase starts to get difficult, the question here isn't whether to move. It's whether to put in a straight rail on the original oak treads or a curved one around the landing.

Call Luis at the number above or email [email protected]. He's measured and installed lifts in this CDP for over 15 years — he can tell from one photo whether your staircase is a standard Mackle build that takes a 14-foot straight rail or one of the expanded ranches off SW 56th that needs the full curved treatment.
