Straight Stairlift

The workhorse of Waterbury's Town Plot colonials, Bunker Hill two-stories, and West Side three-deckers.

Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in the Naugatuck Valley are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next winter power outage. Every unit ships with IP54 sealed motor housing for Connecticut humidity. Most installs wrap in under four hours.

Starting at $2,800 installed

What's Included

Stairlift Service Across Naugatuck Valley County

Naugatuck Valley County, CT

From the stately colonials and Victorians of Town Plot — where original hardwood banisters, formal stairways, and century-old millwork require careful finish-matching — to the three-deckers and multi-family homes of the West Side and East End, where narrow stairwells, shared landings, and tight clearances are the standard install challenge, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Waterbury. We know which Bunker Hill two-stories have the mid-landing turn that requires a curved rail, which Overlook Cape Cods have the tight doorway at the top of the stairs, and which Waterville raised colonials have the exterior steps that need Connecticut's cold-weather outdoor spec.

We also cover Naugatuck, Oakville, Cheshire, Plantsville, Terryville, and Woodbury Center with the same 24-hour assessment window and no travel surcharge anywhere in the Naugatuck Valley.

1910 Town Plot Victorian — rail color-matched to original oak banister

Town Plot, CT Installed March 2026

A 1910 Victorian in Town Plot with original oak banisters and a formal stairway the family has maintained since the brass era. Mrs. Rinaldi's daughter called from Naugatuck after her mother's third near-fall in two months. We brought color samples, matched the rail finish to the original oak grain, and bolted the track into the existing treads without touching a spindle. The sealed motor housing handles the Naugatuck Valley humidity, and the rail practically disappears against the century-old woodwork.

90° landing turn in a 1940s Bunker Hill two-story

Bunker Hill, CT Installed February 2026

A 1940s two-story in Bunker Hill with a 90° turn at the upper landing and original maple millwork. A straight rail was impossible. We digitally scanned the staircase, custom-fabricated a curved rail that threads past the original newel post, and installed in a single afternoon. The chair parks flush at the upper landing and swivels 90° so Mr. Santoro steps off onto the hallway floor. The sealed motor housing is standard for the Naugatuck Valley climate.

Compact rail in a narrow West Side three-decker stairwell

West Side, CT Installed January 2026

A West Side three-decker where the stairwell is 30 inches wide and the treads have been there since 1925. Standard rails won't fit. We installed the compact-profile rail with the folding footrest and seat — the folded lift leaves 22 inches of clear passage, above the code minimum. Mrs. Matos's visiting aide confirmed the clearance works for both of them. The sealed motor housing handles the moisture that builds in the enclosed stairwell during Connecticut summers.

Cold-weather outdoor rail for a raised Waterville colonial entry

Waterville, CT Installed December 2025

A raised colonial in Waterville with a front entry and eight exterior stone steps fully exposed to Connecticut winters. Mr. DiMeo is a veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the VA Connecticut HCS West Haven campus — about 30 minutes south. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came back in four weeks, and the lift was installed the week after. Every bracket is galvanized, the motor housing is IP55 sealed, and the cold-weather battery ran through every sub-zero night this past January.

Overlook carpeted stairs — swivel-exit seat for safer top-landing step-off

Overlook, CT Installed November 2025

A two-story Cape Cod in Overlook with 13 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the bottom. Mrs. Calabrese's biggest worry was stepping off at the top — her neighbor had fallen there the previous winter. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing, so she stands on the hallway floor instead of the top step. The battery backup ensured the lift ran through a January nor'easter that knocked out power for six hours.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform for an East End split-entry duplex

East End, CT Installed October 2025

The Rivera family's mother uses a power wheelchair and needed access between the entry level and the main living area in their East End duplex — a half-flight of five steps that made the house inaccessible after her stroke. We installed an inclined platform lift with high-visibility safety edges, a fold-up deck when not in use, and a keyed call station at the lower landing. CHCPE's state-funded tier covered the majority of the cost — Mrs. Rivera was above Medicaid income limits but qualified for the state-funded component.

Common Questions

Everything Waterbury Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Waterbury right now?

Straight rails in standard Waterbury homes — the Town Plot colonials, the Bunker Hill two-stories, the West Side three-deckers — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for staircases with landings or turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and exterior steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Waterbury prices the same as Fairfield County or Hartford?

Equipment prices are the same across Connecticut — we don't inflate quotes by ZIP code. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original banisters in Town Plot Victorians, navigating narrow three-decker stairwells on the West Side, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a pre-1940 home still running a shared circuit on the landing. Line items are on the written quote.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% off a new install — factory-reconditioned with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never possible. If your Waterbury home has a standard straight run, ask about refurbished inventory during the assessment.

Do I need to verify the CT HIC registration?

Yes — and you should. Connecticut law requires every home improvement contractor to register with the Department of Consumer Protection under the Home Improvement Act (CGS 20-418). An unregistered installer leaves you with no access to the state's Home Improvement Guaranty Fund if the work fails. Our CT HIC registration number appears on every written quote. Verify at elicense.ct.gov.

A word from Luis

Most Waterbury families call me after something has already happened — a slip on the hardwood stairs in a Town Plot colonial, a parent sleeping in the downstairs den because the bedroom stairs are too much, a daughter in Naugatuck worried about her father alone in a three-decker on the West Side who refuses to move to a single-floor apartment.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
