Stairlift Service Across South Central Connecticut County

South Central Connecticut County, CT

We've installed across Meriden's neighborhoods — from the older 1930s Colonials along West Main Street and the hillside lots off Broad Street to the postwar cape cods of South Meriden and the East Side ranches near Hanover Pond. We know which blocks off Paddock Avenue have the steep 45-degree staircases that require the swivel-exit seat, and which Colony Street multi-family conversions have the narrow stairwell that needs our compact-profile rail.

1940s West Main Street Colonial — straight rail alongside original oak banister

West Main Street, CT Installed March 2026

A 1942 West Main Street Colonial with steep stairs and an original oak banister the family had no intention of touching. The rail bolts into the tread wood through the carpet — the banister is untouched, undamaged, and still exactly as built. We pulled a dedicated electrical circuit because the 1942 panel shared the stair-landing outlet with the living room — permit submitted Monday, inspection cleared Wednesday, install Thursday. Three days from assessment to first ride.

Landing turn in a Broad Street Colonial — laser-scanned, newel post preserved

Broad Street, CT Installed February 2026

A Broad Street Colonial where the staircase turns 90 degrees at a small landing — a layout that appeared in several Meriden builder plans from the 1950s. We laser-scanned the full geometry on the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that threads around the landing turn and past the original newel post, and installed in a single afternoon. Mrs. Rivera's home health aide was present for the full training session and can operate every function.

South Meriden cape cod — swivel seat, steep pitch, carpeted treads

South Meriden, CT Installed January 2026

A 1955 South Meriden cape cod with a steep staircase and 14 carpeted treads. The bigger engineering issue was the pitch — steeper than standard, requiring the seat to be set at a forward lean so it remains level throughout the ride. Mr. Kowalski had a stroke six months prior; his neurologist had cleared stairs with assistive equipment. We included the swivel-exit seat so he steps onto the hallway floor at the top, not the top tread. His PT watched the install and signed off.

East Side raised entry — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving

East Side, CT Installed December 2025

An East Side Colonial with a raised front porch and five stone-paved steps from the walkway to the front door. Mrs. Okafor's daughter called from Hartford after her mother slipped on the wet stone in November. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor stairlift with a cream-colored seat anchored along the stone treads, IP54-rated motor housing, and cold-weather lubricant for Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles. The seat folds flat against the rail when parked so the porch entry stays fully passable for guests.

Colony Street landing — straight rail over carpet-covered treads

Colony Street, CT Installed November 2025

A Colony Street multi-family conversion with carpeted stairs running from a tiled foyer to the upper landing. The brown carpet covered every tread and the landing itself, which meant the rail brackets compressed the carpet pile without cutting it. Mr. Petrov's father needed the lift after a hip replacement — the carpet-matched seat blends with the staircase and the rail bolts through the carpet into the plywood subtread beneath. When parked at the bottom, the chair sits flush at the landing beside the light switch panel.

Platform Lift

Paddock Avenue — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Paddock Avenue, CT Installed October 2025

A Paddock Avenue ranch-style home where the garage entry opens onto a half-flight of interior stairs to the main living level. Mrs. Diaz uses a power wheelchair and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip surface and high-visibility yellow safety edges along the platform perimeter. The orange-toned hallway walls frame the unit, and a window on the stairway wall provides natural light. A white handrail runs the full length for any standing passenger. The VA HISA grant covered the majority of the cost through the West Haven campus.

Common Questions

Everything Meriden Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost installed in Meriden, CT?

Straight rails in standard Meriden two-story Colonials and cape cods run $2,800 to $5,500 installed — that covers rail, seat, battery backup, and installation. Curved rails, needed for staircases with landings or turns common in Meriden's older Colonial stock, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your staircase geometry. Every quote is written, includes all line items, and is honored for 30 days. No estimate-only visits.

Do I need to pay the contractor separately to pull a Connecticut permit?

No. Permit costs and labor for pulling the electrical permit — if a dedicated circuit is needed — are included in our quote. We handle the HIC-registered submission to the City of Meriden building department and schedule the town electrical inspection on your behalf. The HIC (Home Improvement Contractor) registration number appears on every written quote, as required by Connecticut law.

Are prices different in Meriden than in Wallingford or New Britain?

Equipment prices are consistent across New Haven County — we don't vary quotes by town. What occasionally affects labor is unusual staircase conditions: the very steep 45-degree stairs in some West Main Street Colonials require extra anchoring hardware, and older electrical panels in pre-1960 Meriden homes sometimes need a dedicated circuit pulled. Both are line items on the quote. No surprise charges after installation.

What financing options are available for Meriden residents?

Three lending partners offer 0% APR for qualified buyers and fixed-rate plans from $79/month. The application is a soft credit pull (no score impact), takes about four minutes, and approval is typically same-day. Many Meriden families combine financing with a partial CHCPE grant or VA HISA benefit to reduce the out-of-pocket monthly payment. We run through the numbers during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Meriden has one of the highest disability rates in Connecticut — over 15% of the population — and the housing stock reflects decades of working-class homeownership: 1940s Colonials, 1960s cape cods, the occasional multi-family on West Main that someone converted into a single-family. The stairs in these homes are steep, narrow, and built before anyone thought about aging in place.

I've installed in more narrow stairwells in the South Meriden and East Side neighborhoods than anywhere else in the state. The work here matters more than most places I go.

— Luis Ramírez, Meriden
