Straight Stairlift

The workhorse of Warwick's post-war colonials and ranches — from Cowesett to Norwood to Greenwood.

Over 70% of the stairlifts we install across Warwick are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold flat so the stairs stay open for the rest of the household, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next nor'easter power outage. Most Warwick installs — the Cowesett colonials, the Norwood ranches, the Greenwood capes — wrap in under four hours.

Starting at $3,150 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Kent County

Kent County, RI

From the waterfront cottages of Conimicut, where retirees watch the sunrise over Narragansett Bay from houses they’ve owned since the 1980s, to the 1960s colonials of Cowesett with formal front-hall staircases and finished basements that add a second flight to measure, our team has mapped every village in Warwick. We know which Warwick Neck homes need marine-grade coating on the outdoor rail, which Pawtuxet Village pre-war capes have the low ceiling clearance requiring a compact folding seat, which Oakland Beach and Palace Garden bungalows have narrow stairs that only fit our slim-profile track, and which Greenwood and Norwood ranches have the half-flight basement run that doubles as a main-floor bedroom.

We also cover West Warwick, East Greenwich, and Coventry — no waiting on a tech from Providence or South County.

1958 Cowesett colonial — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Cowesett, RI Installed March 2026

A 1958 colonial in Cowesett with a formal front-hall staircase and the original red oak treads the homeowner refused to carpet over. Mrs. Ferreira was clear: no carpet, no wall contact, nothing that changes what she has maintained for 35 years. We pilot-drilled the tread nosings, mounted the rail brackets, matched the finish to the existing brass hardware, and left the hardwood unmarked outside the bolt footprint. Her son drove up from Providence the following weekend and said the lift looked like it was designed for that specific staircase.

Warwick Neck colonial — custom curved rail around a 90-degree landing

Warwick Neck, RI Installed February 2026

A 1939 colonial on Warwick Neck Drive with a staircase that turns 90 degrees at the upper landing before reaching the bedroom hallway. The original oak newel post was refinished in 1991 and neither owner was willing to have it touched. We laser-scanned the full staircase geometry, fabricated a curved rail that traces the turn within an inch of the newel without contacting it, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top. Marine-grade components were standard given the location off Greenwich Bay. Mrs. Aldrich slept in her own bedroom the night we installed.

Oakland Beach bungalow — weather-sealed stoop lift with full marine spec

Oakland Beach, RI Installed January 2026

A 1946 bungalow three blocks from Oakland Beach with a raised concrete front stoop — six steps, no handrail, and a northeast exposure that collects salt air off Narragansett Bay from October through March. Mr. Pelletier qualified for a HISA grant through the Providence VA. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription cleared in four weeks, and installation was scheduled the following week. The outdoor rail received full marine treatment: epoxy-coated track, 316-stainless fasteners, IP55-sealed motor housing, and a desiccant insert in the rail cavity. It ran through a full Rhode Island winter without a service call.

Greenwood ranch — 600 lb heavy-duty install for post-surgery recovery

Greenwood, RI Installed December 2025

A 1955 ranch in Greenwood where Mr. Branco needed more than the standard 300 lb capacity and where every other company he called either did not carry the heavy-duty model or quoted a two-week wait. We carry the reinforced frame in-stock and had it on-site in 48 hours. The 22-inch padded seat is the widest we install and the first stairlift Mr. Branco had sat in that felt built for him. His cardiologist at Kent Hospital had recommended avoiding the stairs entirely post-bypass — the lift changed that conversation.

Apponaug townhome — slim-profile rail in a 28-inch-wide stairwell

Apponaug, RI Installed November 2025

A 1980s townhome in Apponaug with a narrow interior stairwell — 28 inches clear from wall to wall — and a homeowner who had been told by two companies the width was not adequate for any stairlift. We measured 26 inches of clearance with the slim-profile seat folded, which meets our minimum. The chair parks flush at the bottom landing, the folded footrest clears the opposite wall by four inches, and visiting grandchildren walk up and down without stepping around anything. Mrs. Rodrigues called three weeks after install to say she had not thought about the stairs once.

Long Meadow colonial — continuous curved rail over two half-flights

Long Meadow, RI Installed October 2025

A 1967 colonial in Long Meadow with a staircase that runs from the lower family room through a mid-landing and continues up to the bedroom hallway — two separate half-flights with a 90-degree turn between them. Two other companies told the family they would need two separate lifts with a mid-landing transfer. We laser-scanned both flights and the landing, fabricated a single continuous curved rail, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top hallway. Mr. DaSilva Sr., 84, rides from the family room to his bedroom in a single uninterrupted motion. His daughter said the first time he rode it all the way up he sat at the top for a minute just to take in the view he had not seen in eight months.

Common Questions

Everything Warwick Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Warwick right now?

Straight rails in standard Warwick homes — the Cowesett colonials, Norwood ranches, and Greenwood capes — run $2,800 to $5,600 installed. Curved rails for Pawtuxet Village pre-war homes with landing turns and Warwick Neck colonials with sweeping staircases run $9,200 to $15,500 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your staircase geometry after a laser scan. Outdoor rails for waterfront stoops in Conimicut, Oakland Beach, and Warwick Neck run $4,200 to $7,800 with marine-grade components as standard. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes rail, seat, motor, battery backup, and first service visit.

Does the waterfront location add to the cost?

For outdoor installs within three miles of Narragansett Bay or Greenwich Bay — Conimicut, Warwick Neck, Oakland Beach, Pawtuxet Village waterfront — marine-grade epoxy rail coating, 316-stainless fasteners, and an IP55-sealed motor housing are standard spec, not upcharges. For indoor installs in the same neighborhoods, we seal the battery terminals because salt air penetrates window frames and corrodes unprotected copper. The only line items that genuinely add cost are scope-driven: a curved rail costs more to fabricate than a straight one, and a heavy-duty frame costs more than standard. All are itemized on the written quote before you sign.

Do you charge extra for 55-plus community or condo installs in Warwick?

Our quote includes the condo board paperwork we handle at no charge. We have worked with retirement communities along Post Road and West Shore Road, the Cowesett complexes, and multiple Warwick Cove associations. Under the RI Fair Housing Practices Act and the federal Fair Housing Amendments Act, condo boards and HOAs must permit reasonable accessibility accommodations for residents with documented disabilities. We provide the accommodation-request packet for board review. The only situation that occasionally adds a small charge is when a board requires a licensed engineer letter — we tell you that upfront.

Can I get a written quote before committing to anything?

Yes — and every Warwick homeowner gets one regardless of whether they move forward. The free home assessment takes about 45 minutes: a CRLB-registered installer walks your stairs, measures with a laser, and leaves you with a written itemized quote honored for 30 days. No pressure, no deposit, no obligation. The quote lists every component — rail, seat, motor, battery backup, marine-grade hardware if applicable, and first service visit — on separate line items so you can compare it directly to any other quote you receive.

A word from Luis

Most Warwick families call me after something specific — a stumble on the carpeted stairs of a 1960s Cowesett colonial, a father who stopped going upstairs in the Conimicut cape after his knee replacement, a daughter in New York worried about her mother in a Warwick Neck waterfront home she's owned since 1975.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
