Stairlift Service Across Bexar County

Bexar County, TX

We install across Universal City's older subdivisions. Coronado Village, off Kitty Hawk Road, has 1970s split-levels with two short flights and a landing turn — good candidates for a short curved rail. Northview and Camelot II hold 1980s two-stories with carpeted treads that take a bolt-through straight rail. Northcliffe and Valley Forge mix single- and two-story homes with straight interior runs. Forest Crest and the Old Rose Garden ranches near Pat Booker Road run narrow — often under 34 inches — so we use a slim-fold seat to keep walkway clearance. Whatever the tread material or turn geometry, the rail bolts to the stairs, not the walls.

Common Questions

Everything Universal City Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Universal City?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800 installed. Curved models start at $9,000, outdoor lifts at $4,000, and heavy-duty models rated to 600 lb at $5,050. Each price includes the rail, chair, installation, and a five-year warranty.

Why are curved stairlifts more expensive in Universal City homes?

Curved rails are custom-bent for your exact staircase. Coronado Village split-levels and other 1970s homes often have a 90-degree landing turn, so each rail is laser-measured and fabricated to that geometry — which is why curved models start at $9,000 versus $2,800 for a straight rail.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Universal City?

No. Medicare does not pay for stairlifts. Texas STAR+PLUS Medicaid covers minor home modifications, including stairlifts, for eligible seniors and adults with disabilities who qualify for nursing-facility-level care.

Are there financing options for a stairlift in Universal City?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month. Many Universal City veterans also use the VA HISA grant of up to $6,800, and some qualify for the Amy Young Barrier Removal Program, which can be combined with financing to lower the out-of-pocket cost.

A word from Luis

Universal City is a Randolph Air Force Base town through and through. When I pull up to a house in Coronado Village or off Toepperwein Road, there's a good chance the homeowner served at JBSA-Randolph or has family who did.

Most of these homes went up in the 1960s and 70s when the base was expanding, and the staircases run narrower than what I see in newer San Antonio subdivisions — a lot of the ranch homes have 34-inch-wide stairs. I fit a folding slim-rail seat for those. And because so many customers here are veterans, the VA HISA grant comes up in nearly every assessment; I walk folks through the two forms and we submit to the Audie L. Murphy VA.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Universal City's mid-century ranch and split-level homes near Randolph weren't built with stairs in mind, but nearly every one can take a stairlift in a single afternoon — no wall work, no electrician. Straight rails start at $2,800, and many local veterans cover much of the cost with the VA HISA grant.

Call (800) 965-0350 for a free in-home assessment. Luis measures your staircase, checks the funding you qualify for, and gives you a firm quote with no obligation.
