Straight Stairlift — San Antonio, TX

Straight Stairlift

The standard for San Antonio's Stone Oak two-stories and Alamo Heights estates.

Over 65% of the stairlifts we install across Bexar County are straight rails — the 1990s-to-2010s two-stories in Stone Oak, Alamo Ranch, and Shavano Park with wide, carpeted stairs. The track bolts to your stair treads, never into the wall. The seat and footrest fold up out of the way, the battery backup keeps you moving through South Texas storm outages, and most installs finish in under three hours.

Starting at $2,800 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion

Compared to Alternatives

vs Curved: 3x less expensive and installed in one visit. vs Home elevator: 10-15x less cost and no construction. vs Moving bedroom downstairs: Keeps your home exactly as it is.

1938 Alamo Heights limestone estate — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Alamo Heights, TX Installed January 2026

A 1938 limestone estate on Inslee Avenue in Alamo Heights with a long single-run staircase and an original mahogany handrail. Dr. Crenshaw, 84, is a retired cardiologist who couldn't manage the stairs after his knee replacement at the South Texas Medical Center. The All American team matched the rail finish to the original mahogany handrail, pulled the Alamo Heights electrical permit on the company's behalf, and installed a premium padded seat with upgraded armrests. The 16-foot straight rail bolts into the hardwood treads with pilot holes — no contact with the wall, the banister, or any original trim. Dr. Crenshaw calls it the best gift his family ever gave him. Four hours on site, written quote honored to the penny.

1892 King William mansion — curved rail past original carved oak newel post at upper landing

King William, TX Installed March 2026

An 1892 brick mansion in the King William Historic District with a carved oak banister original to the house. Mrs. Schumacher's opening requirement was 'don't touch the banister.' Two other companies told her the curved rail couldn't be done without removing the newel post. Luis laser-scanned the stairs on the first visit, fabricated a 19-foot curved rail in 12 days, and threaded it around the 90-degree upper landing with two inches of clearance from the original newel post. Interior install — no HDRC review required. The chair parks flush at the upper landing with swivel exit onto the hallway rug. Not one screw in the banister. Mrs. Schumacher's mother rode it the afternoon of install.

1908 Southtown brick two-flat — slim-profile straight rail, full Spanish-language service

Southtown, TX Installed November 2025

A 1908 brick two-flat on South Presa Street in Southtown. Mrs. Reyes, 79, had been sleeping on the downstairs couch after her doctor told her to stop climbing. Her granddaughter called on Monday. The entire process — assessment on Tuesday, written quote in Spanish, install on Thursday — was conducted in Spanish by Luis. The 14-foot straight rail runs along the narrow traditional staircase, the folded seat takes up just 11 inches, and the crew trained Mrs. Reyes on the seatbelt, key lock, and manual crank with her granddaughter and great-grandson present. Mrs. Reyes slept in her own bed that night.

Pre-war Terrell Hills estate — heat-rated outdoor porch lift for flagstone entry steps

Terrell Hills, TX Installed December 2025

A 1941 Spanish colonial estate in Terrell Hills with a flagstone front porch and six entry steps that bake in full afternoon Texas sun. Col. Haskins, 78, retired from Randolph AFB and receives his VA care at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans' Hospital. The VA HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum — zero out-of-pocket. We installed a straight outdoor rail along the entry stair side with stainless fasteners into the flagstone stringer. Every component is heat-rated: UV-stabilized upholstery for 2,000-plus sun hours, a heat-shielded motor housing rated to 140°F, a battery cell rated for repeated 105°F-plus summer days, and a sealed motor housing for the 80% summer humidity that Gulf moisture pushes into Bexar County.

2004 Stone Oak two-story — straight rail on wide carpeted stairs, under three hours

Stone Oak, TX Installed February 2026

A 2004 two-story stucco in Stone Oak with wide, carpeted stairs — the standard 13-tread run common to every subdivision north of Loop 1604. Mrs. Whitaker fell on the fourth step in January and her son in Austin called the next morning. Under the federal Fair Housing Act, HOAs cannot unreasonably refuse accessibility modifications for residents with documented medical needs. We prepared the documentation, submitted it Tuesday, and received written HOA approval by Friday. Measured Monday, installed Wednesday — 2.5 hours on site. The rail runs along the open side, the seat folds flush when parked, and the grandchildren named it 'Mimi's elevator.'

Platform Lift

Windcrest ranch — VA HISA-funded wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Windcrest, TX Installed October 2025

MSG Delafuente, 72, retired Army medic from Fort Sam Houston, wheelchair user with a service-connected spinal cord injury. The 4-foot driveway-to-front-entry rise at his 1980s Windcrest ranch made the front door unusable. We pre-filled VA Form 10-0103 at his kitchen table on the first visit, and the HISA coordinator at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans' Hospital approved the full $6,800 in five weeks. The vertical platform lift has a keyed call station, yellow high-visibility pressure-sensitive safety edges on the platform and gate thresholds, interlocking top and bottom gates, and a heat-rated enclosed motor. MSG Delafuente rolled onto it the same afternoon it was installed — zero out-of-pocket.

Common Questions

Everything San Antonio Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in San Antonio right now?

Straight rails in a standard two-story San Antonio home — Stone Oak, Alamo Ranch, Shavano Park, the 1990s-to-2010s tract stock — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the 1890s King William brick mansions and the 1920s Monte Vista carved-wood staircases run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact stair geometry and threaded past original millwork. Outdoor heat-rated runs on Terrell Hills and Olmos Park pre-war estate porches run $4,000 to $7,500 depending on rise.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service on the West Side or Southtown?

No. San Antonio is roughly 64% Hispanic and Spanish is the primary language in a large share of households across the West Side, Denver Heights, Government Hill, Beacon Hill, and parts of Southtown. Every assessment can be conducted entirely in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual, the entire home visit runs in Spanish start to finish, and every printed quote, consent form, operating manual, and safety sheet is available in Spanish at no charge.

Can I pay monthly instead of one large payment?

Yes. We work with three lending partners that offer 0% APR for qualified San Antonio buyers and low fixed-rate plans starting around $79 per month. The application is a soft credit pull, takes about four minutes, and approval is usually instant. No prepayment penalty. Many Bexar County families combine financing with a partial VA HISA grant or STAR+PLUS waiver to bring their monthly out-of-pocket to under $50.

Is a stairlift cheaper than assisted living in San Antonio?

Assisted living in Bexar County averages $4,500 per month — that is $54,000 per year and $540,000 over a decade. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets your parent stay in the home they know, in the neighborhood they love, near their doctors at the South Texas Medical Center and their friends at the parish. For most San Antonio families, the stairlift costs less than two months of assisted living.

A word from Luis

San Antonio is a military city with three joint bases, 67,000 active-duty and civilian DoD employees, and one of the largest veteran populations in the country. The stairlift calls I take here split into two worlds: pre-war estates in King William, Monte Vista, Alamo Heights, and Terrell Hills where the homeowner's first words are 'don't touch the banister' — and the 1990s-to-2010s two-stories in Stone Oak, Alamo Ranch, and Shavano Park where a parent moved in after surgery and the stairs became a daily risk.

I measure both. I speak Spanish with the West Side families and English with the Stone Oak HOAs. The quote is written, honored for 30 days, and the install is this week. En español si lo prefiere.
