Straight Stairlift

The standard install for Troy's 1970s colonials, ranch condos, and Long Lake Estates two-stories.

Over 65% of the stairlifts we install in Troy are straight rails. The rail bolts into your stair treads — never into the wall — the seat and footrest fold flat, and the battery backup keeps you moving through Michigan ice storm outages. Most Troy colonials and ranch condos install in under four hours. Sealed motor housing comes standard for Michigan basement humidity.

Starting at $3,200 installed

Stairlift Service Across Oakland County

Oakland County, MI

From Mt. Vernon Estates north of Wattles Road — where 1966-1974 colonials and split-levels account for more curved-rail installs than any other Troy subdivision — to Emerald Lakes and Beach Forest in the northwest quadrant, where wider 1990s staircases go straight in under four hours, our team knows which subdivision needs what. We've installed in Stoneridge ranch condos, East Long Lake Estates colonials with subfloor settlement, and Wattles Creek condos where the HOA board needed a reasonable-accommodation letter before approving exterior work.

Mt. Vernon Estates colonial — straight rail on original hardwood oak treads

Mt. Vernon Estates, MI Installed March 2026

A 1971 colonial in Mt. Vernon Estates with original oak stair treads the homeowners had maintained for over 50 years. Two other companies said the carpet needed to come off first. We bolted the rail through the carpet directly into the subfloor, matched the bracket finish to the oak trim, and completed the install in a single morning. The carpet shows no cuts, no seams, no evidence of work. Mrs. Kowalski said she'd been putting this off for two years because she thought it would ruin the stairs.

Coolidge Highway split-level — curved rail through the 90-degree upper landing

Coolidge Highway corridor, MI Installed February 2026

A 1968 split-level off Coolidge Highway with the signature landing turn that every stairlift company told the family would need two separate lifts. We laser-scanned the entire staircase geometry on the first visit, fabricated one continuous curved rail from the foyer to the upper bedrooms, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top landing. Mr. Patel's father rides it eight times a day — up for breakfast, down for the mail, up for a nap — and it hasn't missed once since February.

Stoneridge ranch condo — straight rail down stone-and-carpet basement stairs

Stoneridge, MI Installed January 2026

A ranch condo in the Stoneridge development where the basement stairs were the only barrier to Mr. Henderson staying home after knee surgery. Stone-and-carpet treads, standard width, no turns. The HOA board approved the install within a week after we submitted the reasonable-accommodation packet. Mr. Henderson was back in his basement workshop three days after surgery recovery. He told us the stairs were the reason he almost moved to a single-story apartment.

Emerald Lakes raised entry — weather-sealed outdoor rail on stone paving

Emerald Lakes, MI Installed December 2025

A raised front entry in the Emerald Lakes development with six exterior stone-paved steps between the driveway and the front door. Mr. Novak had been avoiding his own front entrance after a fall during the previous winter. We mounted an outdoor straight rail on the stone paving with stainless anchors, sealed the motor housing to IP54, and fitted a cream UV-resistant seat. The battery kept running through the January ice storm that knocked out power for nine hours. Mr. Novak uses his own front door again regardless of the weather.

East Long Lake Estates — straight rail on deep-pile carpeted stairs

East Long Lake Estates, MI Installed November 2025

An East Long Lake Estates colonial where Mrs. Chen's mother, 86, lives alone and refused to leave. Deep-pile carpeted stairs, standard width, 14 treads to the upper bedrooms. We bolted the rail through the carpet into the subfloor — no cutting, no removal. Installed in three hours on a Thursday morning, showed her every button twice, and called Monday to confirm she was comfortable. She calls it 'her little elevator' and she's staying in her house.

Platform Lift

Wattles Road ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Near Wattles Road, MI Installed October 2025

A ranch home near Wattles Road where Mr. Vargas — a retired autoworker and veteran — uses a power wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. Oakland County Veterans Services on Crooks Road helped him apply for the HISA grant, and we prefilled the VA paperwork. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides and a white handrail along the wall. The platform carries the wheelchair and rider from the garage level to the kitchen without any transfer required. He paid nothing out of pocket.

Common Questions

Everything Troy Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Troy right now?

Straight rails in standard Troy homes — the colonials in Mt. Vernon Estates, the ranch condos in Stoneridge, the two-stories off Long Lake Road — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most 1960s and 1970s split-levels off Coolidge and Livernois, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models rated for Michigan freeze-thaw run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Troy prices higher because it's an affluent suburb?

Equipment prices are identical across Oakland County — we don't inflate quotes for Troy, Bloomfield Hills, or Birmingham addresses. What can vary is install labor for unusual conditions: shimming brackets for 50-year-old subfloor settlement in Mt. Vernon Estates, pulling a dedicated circuit in a 1960s split-level with original 100-amp service, or fabricating a curved rail for a landing turn. We show you every line item before you sign. No 'Oakland County premium.'

Does the sealed motor housing for Michigan humidity cost extra?

No. Every Troy install ships with sealed motor housings as a baseline specification — it's not an upgrade or an add-on. Michigan basement humidity runs 65-75% in summer and corrodes standard unsealed motors inside two years. We learned that lesson early and stopped offering the unsealed option statewide. The sealed housing is in your quote at the same price.

Is the in-home assessment really free?

Yes — completely free with no obligation. Luis measures your staircase, photographs the geometry, identifies whether you need a straight or curved rail, and leaves you with a written quote the same day. For curved-rail projects in Troy's split-level homes, that measurement data goes directly to fabrication, so it's a working visit, not a sales pitch. You review the quote at your own pace and call when you're ready.

A word from Luis

Most Troy families call after a scare on their colonial staircase — a stumble on the carpeted split-level landing in Mt. Vernon Estates, a father who stopped going upstairs six weeks after hip surgery, a daughter in Chicago worried about her 84-year-old mother alone in a Wattles Road ranch she's lived in since 1972.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
