Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Richmond County

Richmond County, NY

From Todt Hill and Grymes Hill — the Island's hilltop neighborhoods, where custom colonials and Victorians have the wide staircases and curved geometries that require precision-fabricated rails — to New Dorp, Great Kills, and Annadale on the South Shore, where the 1960s split-levels with their mid-landing 90° turns are the single most common staircase we install on the Island, our team covers every neighborhood. We know which Tottenville waterfront homes need the marine-grade rail coating for Atlantic salt exposure, which St. George and Stapleton row-style co-ops require NYC DOB paperwork and board approval before a single bolt goes in, and which Emerson Hill colonials have the tight newel-post turns that require a compact-profile chair. Because Staten Island families often have parents in Brooklyn too, we also staff coverage across the Verrazzano into Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, and Dyker Heights.

Todt Hill colonial — slim-profile rail matched to original mahogany hardwood

Todt Hill, NY Installed February 2026

A 1958 colonial on Todt Hill with a wide formal stairway and original mahogany banister — the kind of home where the staircase is a design feature. Mrs. Castellano was clear: "This cannot ruin my foyer." We specified the slim-profile rail in dark mahogany finish, mounted the chair flush against the wall at the bottom so the foyer width is fully preserved, and added the soft-start motor so the ride is silent enough for 5 AM use. Marine-grade fasteners are standard on every Staten Island install given the proximity to New York Harbor.

New Dorp 1964 split-level — 90° curved rail at mid-landing, one continuous ride

New Dorp, NY Installed March 2026

A 1964 split-level in New Dorp with the classic Staten Island layout — six steps from the entry, a 90° mid-landing turn, then eight more to the bedrooms. Every company Mrs. Mancini called said she'd need two separate lifts with a transfer at the landing. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that carries her husband from the front door to the upper hallway in one continuous ride, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top. One ride, zero transfers.

Stapleton brownstone stoop — weather-sealed porch entry, 316-stainless salt-air spec

Stapleton, NY Installed December 2025

A restored brownstone in Stapleton with a 10-step front stoop — the classic North Shore porch entry. Mrs. Rodriguez's mother moved in after a hip fracture and couldn't manage the exterior stairs. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail with marine-grade epoxy coating, 316-stainless fasteners, and a fold-up deck so the stoop stairs stay fully clear when the lift is parked. The NYC DOB paperwork was submitted and approved within two weeks; Stapleton is not in a designated landmark district.

Great Kills raised ranch — 600 lb bariatric capacity, swivel exit, marine hardware

Great Kills, NY Installed January 2026

A 1967 raised ranch in Great Kills with 14 carpeted treads. Mr. O'Brien needed the heavy-duty model — the standard 300 lb seat wasn't comfortable for his frame, and his doctor specified the 22-inch padded seat with the reinforced 600 lb drive. We added the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing so he steps onto the hallway floor instead of the top step. Marine-grade fasteners are standard because Great Kills is within the Staten Island salt-air zone. The folding footrest keeps the stairway clear for his visiting grandchildren.

Annadale two-story townhome — narrow-profile install before hip replacement return

Annadale, NY Installed October 2025

A 1970s two-story townhome in Annadale with a standard straight staircase — wide-enough treads but a tight wall clearance typical of the South Shore rowhouse construction from that era. Mrs. Walsh had a hip replacement scheduled at Staten Island University Hospital and needed the lift working before she came home. We measured on Wednesday, installed on Friday, fitting the slim-profile rail to keep full stair access for the rest of the household. She rode it home from the hospital eight days later without touching the stairs.

Grymes Hill Victorian — curved rail threading 180° turn and second-floor landing

Grymes Hill, NY Installed November 2025

A 1920s Victorian on Grymes Hill with a tight 180° turn at the second-floor landing and an original walnut banister the family refused to alter. Two other companies quoted removing the newel post. We digitally mapped every angle, fabricated a multi-landing curved rail that clears the walnut post by three-quarters of an inch, and installed the compact-profile chair. One continuous ride from the ground floor to the second-floor hallway, no transfer at the landing. Mrs. Petrov has used it daily for five months — not a single scratch on the original woodwork.

Common Questions

Everything Staten Island Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost on Staten Island right now?

Straight rails in standard Staten Island split-levels and colonials run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails — needed for Todt Hill custom staircases, Grymes Hill Victorian turns, and the mid-landing splits that dominate the South Shore — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and front-stoop access run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different on Staten Island than in Manhattan or Brooklyn?

Equipment prices are the same across all five boroughs — we don't inflate quotes for Todt Hill or Grymes Hill addresses. What varies on the Island is co-op board approval timelines (St. George and North Shore boards can add 4-8 weeks), and the occasional need for marine-grade hardware on Tottenville waterfront installs. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise "NYC premiums."

Do you charge extra for co-op or condo board paperwork?

No. Our quote includes the full board-approval packet — ANSI A18.1 product spec sheet, installer insurance certificates naming the building as additional insured, structural load statement, and a historic-district compliance letter if applicable. We have templates on file for two dozen Staten Island buildings. The NYC Human Rights Law (Executive Law §296) and the federal Fair Housing Act require boards to approve reasonable accessibility accommodations. We follow up with the property manager directly.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% — we carry factory-reconditioned models with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never possible because the rail is manufactured to a specific staircase. If your Staten Island home has a standard straight run, ask us during the assessment. Every refurbished unit we sell gets the same marine-grade treatment as new installs for South Shore and waterfront homes.

A word from Luis

Most Staten Island families call me after the same conversation at the kitchen table — a parent who slipped on the split-level stairs in a New Dorp ranch, a spouse who hasn't been upstairs since the knee replacement at Staten Island University Hospital, a daughter in Manhattan worried about her mother alone in the Todt Hill colonial she's lived in for 45 years.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
