Stairlift Service Across Spokane County

Spokane County, WA

From the 1890s Victorians of Browne's Addition — where the conversation is always about preserving hand-carved banisters and navigating 130-year-old stair geometry — to the steep colonial neighborhoods of the South Hill (Cliff-Cannon, Comstock, Rockwood, Manito), our team has mapped every stair shape Spokane builds. We know which Garland and Shadle post-war bungalows have the narrow-profile stairs that need a compact rail, which Indian Trail ramblers have the split-level entry common to 1970s construction, and which Whitworth area homes were built with wide modern treads that install in three hours flat.

1922 South Hill colonial — rail color-matched to original Douglas fir treads

South Hill, WA Installed March 2026

A 1922 colonial on the South Hill with original Douglas fir treads and a banister Mrs. Thornton's grandfather installed — the family had been in the house for three generations. Her first instruction: match the wood, don't touch the banister. We brought color samples to the first visit, matched the rail finish to the century-old fir grain, and bolted the track into the existing treads without touching a single spindle. The rail is practically invisible when parked at the upper landing.

1893 Browne's Addition Victorian — curved rail past the original hand-carved newel

Browne's Addition, WA Installed February 2026

An 1893 Queen Anne Victorian in Browne's Addition with a hand-carved newel post, original spindles, and stair treads that have settled unevenly over 130 years. Two companies had declined — one said the newel would have to be cut, another said the tread settlement made a flush install impossible. We digitally scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that threads past the newel with 2 inches of clearance, and shimmed brackets at three treads to compensate for the settlement. Mrs. Kowalchuk rode it to the second floor for the first time in six months.

Comstock bungalow — straight rail on original hardwood, post-surgery recovery

Comstock, WA Installed January 2026

A 1938 Comstock bungalow with original hardwood stairs and a tight 28-inch stairway width that two other companies said made a rail impossible. Mrs. Hendricks was three weeks from a scheduled hip replacement at Providence Sacred Heart and her surgeon required stair assist before discharge. We specified the compact-profile rail, confirmed clearance past the lower newel, and bolted the track into the hardwood treads without removing a single board. She rode it home from Sacred Heart on a Wednesday afternoon and went upstairs to her own bed that same evening.

South Hill steep front entry — weather-sealed outdoor rail, HISA-funded

South Hill, WA Installed December 2025

The Mitchell home sits on one of the South Hill's steeper grades — eight exterior concrete steps from the sidewalk to the front porch, sheeted with ice for four months of the year. Mr. Mitchell is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Spokane VA Medical Center on West Fort George Wright Drive. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103 and had the prescription back in six weeks. The outdoor rail ships standard with stainless fasteners, sealed motor housing, drip shield for spring snowmelt, and cold-rated battery to -20°F. It ran through two months of below-zero nights without a service call.

Garland District bungalow — compact rail in a 26-inch stairway

Garland, WA Installed November 2025

A 1945 bungalow in the Garland District with a 26-inch stair width and a newel post at the bottom that ate up another two inches. A national chain had quoted a rail that required removing the newel — Mrs. Dubois had lived in this house for 38 years and the newel was staying. We specified the compact-profile rail, confirmed 1.5 inches of clearance past the newel on each side, and added the fold-flat footrest so the stairs stay fully walkable for her visiting grandchildren. The cold-weather battery is standard on every Spokane install.

Platform Lift

Shadle Park ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift for basement workshop access

Shadle Park, WA Installed October 2025

A 1958 ranch in the Shadle Park neighborhood where Mr. Delgado uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury during his Army service at Fort Lewis. The five-step interior drop between the main floor and the finished basement workshop ruled out a seated stairlift entirely. We installed a vertical platform lift with bright yellow safety edges on the perimeter, interlocked gates at both levels, and controls mounted at wheelchair height. The VA approved his HISA grant through the Spokane VA Medical Center, and we prefilled every form. Mr. Delgado rolls his chair on, presses one button, and reaches his basement workshop for the first time in four years.

Common Questions

Everything Spokane Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Spokane right now?

Straight rails in standard Spokane homes — the South Hill colonials, the Garland bungalows, the Indian Trail splits — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most Browne's Addition Victorians, Comstock landing turns, and 1970s split-level entries, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for porch and entry stairs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-rated battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Spokane than in Seattle?

Equipment prices are the same statewide. What differs is the baseline spec: every Spokane install ships with a cold-weather battery rated to -20°F, which we include at no extra charge because the eastern Washington climate demands it. Seattle installs get the marine-grade coating instead. Same price, different weather engineering.

Do you charge a travel fee for homes outside the city?

No travel fee anywhere in Spokane County — that includes Spokane Valley, Airway Heights, Cheney, Medical Lake, and the Five Mile area. For homes in the Idaho panhandle (Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls), the assessment is still free; we route you on the nearest available day.

What if I only need the lift for post-surgery recovery?

We install rentals and short-term leases for post-surgery recovery — common after hip and knee replacements at Providence Sacred Heart, MultiCare Deaconess, and the Spokane VA. The rental includes install, removal, and the cold-rated battery. If you decide to keep it, we credit the rental payments toward the purchase price.

A word from Luis

Most Spokane families call me after a hard winter — a fall on the icy front steps, a parent who stopped going upstairs in November and still hasn't gone back by March, a son in Seattle worried about his mother alone in a South Hill Victorian while the roads are sheeted over.

My job is simple: get to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
