Straight Stairlift — Shoreline, WA

Straight Stairlift

The standard install for Shoreline's post-war ramblers and split-entry homes along Aurora Avenue.

Shoreline's housing stock is dominated by 1950s–1970s single-story ramblers and split-entry homes — the rambler's interior stairs and the split-entry's upper or lower run are typically 10–14 treads with a straight layout, the ideal configuration for our standard straight rail. The rail bolts into the tread surface, the seat and footrest fold flat, and the battery backup keeps the lift running through Shoreline's frequent winter outages. Most installs wrap in under four hours.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion
  • Fold-up seat, arms, and footrest
  • 10-year motor & gearbox warranty

Compared to Alternatives

vs Curved: 3x less expensive and installed in one visit. vs Home elevator: 10-15x less cost and no construction. vs Moving bedroom downstairs: Keeps your home exactly as it is.

Stairlift Service Across King County

King County, WA

From the post-war ramblers in central Shoreline along NE 145th Street to the split-level properties on the hillside streets west of Aurora Avenue, from the wooded lots in Lake Forest Park to the denser residential blocks of Mountlake Terrace — our team has mapped the staircase geometry of every housing era in this corridor. We know which Shoreline split-entries have the mid-landing turn that requires a curved rail, which Lake Forest Park ramblers have the low attic ceiling at the top tread, and which Mountlake Terrace raised entries need a platform lift for wheelchair access. We also serve Edmonds from the same North King team — no added wait, no out-of-area charge.

1958 Shoreline rambler — straight rail on original fir treads

Shoreline, WA Installed March 2026

A 1958 rambler in central Shoreline with original fir treads that have held up for almost 70 years. Mrs. Olsen had been avoiding the basement laundry room for months after a hip replacement at Northwest Hospital. We measured the 14-foot run, confirmed the fir treads could accept the mounting hardware without splitting, and installed a straight rail the same week. The rail parks flush against the wall at the bottom. She does her own laundry again.

1964 split-level — curved rail around a mid-landing turn off Aurora Avenue

Shoreline, WA Installed February 2026

A 1964 split-level west of Aurora Avenue with a mid-landing 90-degree turn that two other companies told the Parks could not be done with a single rail. We laser-scanned the full run on the first visit, fabricated a continuous curved rail in 12 days, and installed it in under five hours. Mr. Park rides from the entry to the upper bedrooms without stopping or transferring. The swivel-exit seat lets him step off onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread.

Lake Forest Park split-entry — powered swivel seat for safer top-landing dismount

Lake Forest Park, WA Installed January 2026

A split-entry home in Lake Forest Park where the front door opens onto a landing with stairs going up and down. Mr. Chen had been using only the main floor since a stroke at UW Medical Center left his left side weakened. We installed a straight rail on the upper run with a powered swivel seat at the top so he can turn safely before stepping onto the hallway carpet. The rail folds flat against the wall, leaving the full stairway width clear for his wife and grandchildren.

Outdoor

Mountlake Terrace raised entry — outdoor stairlift on rain-exposed front steps

Mountlake Terrace, WA Installed December 2025

A raised front entry in Mountlake Terrace with seven concrete steps that stay wet from October through May. Mr. Andersen is a retired Navy veteran with a service-connected knee injury. He had slipped twice on the wet steps before his daughter called us. We installed a marine-grade outdoor stairlift with stainless-steel fasteners, an IP55-sealed motor housing, and a weather cover that keeps the seat dry between rides. The HISA grant through VA Puget Sound covered $6,800. Every component is rated for continuous Pacific Northwest rain exposure.

Contemporary Shoreline townhouse — slim-profile rail, minimal visual footprint

Shoreline, WA Installed November 2025

A newer Shoreline townhouse near the light rail station with a modern open stairway and 34-inch-wide treads. Mrs. Nguyen's mother moved in after her husband passed and the three-story layout was the only concern. We installed a slim-profile straight rail that folds to 11 inches from the wall, leaving full passage width. The seat matches the light wood tones of the stairway. Her mother rides between the bedroom floor and the kitchen level four times a day without asking for help.

Platform Lift

Edmonds split-entry — inclined wheelchair platform lift for full-time chair user

Edmonds, WA Installed October 2025

A 1955 split-entry in Edmonds where Mr. Larson uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury. A seated stairlift was not an option. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway from the entry to the main living level: a flat anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges, white handrails, and a keyed lockout. The VA HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and COPES covered the remaining balance. Mr. Larson rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides to the main floor without leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Shoreline Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Shoreline, WA?

Straight rails in Shoreline's postwar ramblers and split-levels run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. The garage-to-main-floor half-flights common in Richmond Beach area split-levels — 7 to 10 steps — typically land in the $2,800 to $3,800 range. Full two-story stair runs in Lake Forest Park and the older Shoreline colonials run $3,500 to $5,500. Curved rails run $9,000 to $15,000.

Are prices different in Shoreline than Seattle or Bellevue?

Equipment prices are the same across the Puget Sound corridor. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original fir treads in 1950s ramblers, marine-grade outdoor specs that ship standard on every King County install, and the L&I-registered installer requirement that Washington mandates and out-of-state chains often skip. We tell you the line items upfront on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Moving costs in King County — real estate commission, closing costs, transfer tax, and packing — typically run $40,000 to $80,000 minimum given Shoreline home values. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you have lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, near the doctors and friends you already have. For most Shoreline families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Shoreline assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request. Luis is bilingual and has walked King County families through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

A word from Luis

"Every home in Shoreline is different — the staircase width, the tread material, the landing configuration. I measure in person because a phone estimate in this market is a guess, and guesses cost families money. We give you a written quote, honored for 30 days, and we do not start until you are ready."
