Stairlift Service Across Bexar County

Bexar County, TX

Scenic Oaks stretches across northern Bexar County west of I-10, a collection of gated subdivisions bound together by the Scenic Oaks Property Owners Association (SOPOA) and the member-owned Oaks Water Supply Corporation. The original Scenic Oaks subdivision — six units developed starting in 1979 — contains some of the area's oldest homes, many with wider staircases from that building era. River Rock Ranch adds a clubhouse, pool, and newer Highland Homes builds, where curved staircases and split-level entries are common. Country Estates runs along Boerne Stage Road with larger lots and a mix of ranch-style and two-story homes. Toward the northwest edge, Limestone Ranch feeds into Boerne ISD and sits closer to the Kendall County line.

River Rock Ranch · Dark Hardwood Stairs

River Rock Ranch, TX Installed March 2026

The Pattersons' Highland Home in River Rock Ranch has dark oak treads on a straight 14-foot run — the kind of staircase that takes a third of the install time of a curved one. Their staircase width ran 38 inches, giving us room to offset the rail slightly for a wider walking path alongside. Five brackets bolted into the oak treads, the DC motor mounted at the top, and the beige seat parked at the bottom landing. Battery tested three full cycles before we packed up.

Country Estates · 90° Curved Rail at Upper Landing

Country Estates, TX Installed January 2026

The Trans' two-story colonial in Country Estates has a staircase that bends 90 degrees around a limestone half-wall before reaching the upper landing, with a chandelier hanging through the center of the turn. We laser-measured the full run — 17 feet of rail, one continuous bend. The brown seat parks at the top floor, swiveling inward so you step straight onto the hallway, not sideways toward the staircase. Five-hour install, tested through a full discharge-recharge cycle on the backup battery.

Limestone Ranch · Stone Tile Treads, Compact Landing

Limestone Ranch, TX Installed April 2026

Compact ranch-style home in Limestone Ranch with stone tile treads and a narrow bottom landing near a wooden sideboard. The tile added about 30 minutes to the install — carbide bit, slow drilling, one tread at a time. The brown seat tucks against the wall at the bottom without blocking access to the sideboard cabinet. 12-foot straight rail, five brackets into the tile treads with zero cracks. The homeowners' father-in-law uses it daily to reach the upstairs guest room.

Threshold Ranch · Outdoor Stone Porch, Full Weather Seal

Threshold Ranch, TX Installed February 2026

Five rough-hewn stone steps up to the front porch of this Threshold Ranch fly-in community home. We mounted an IP55-rated outdoor rail directly to the stone with stainless hardware — the cream-colored seat sits at porch level under full Hill Country sun exposure. Marine-grade upholstery, UV-resistant rail coating, and a weather-sealed motor housing. Tested the battery backup by running five full cycles on battery power alone. The Caldwells' mother now enters through the front door instead of the garage.

Scenic Oaks Subdivision · Carpeted Stairs, 1980s Build

Scenic Oaks, TX Installed November 2025

Original Scenic Oaks subdivision home from the early 1980s — wider 38-inch staircase with beige carpet that matched the brown stairlift seat almost perfectly. Straight 16-foot rail on carpeted treads. The wider build meant we could offset the rail 4 inches from the wall, leaving a full walking lane for the Howards' spouse. Tile floor at the base landing gave us a clean lower mount point. The homeowners' mother had fallen once on these stairs; the lift has been in daily use for six months without an issue.

Platform Lift

Classic Oaks · Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift

Classic Oaks, TX Installed May 2026

The Simmons family's two-story Classic Oaks home needed a wheelchair platform lift — the homeowner uses a power chair and the standard stairlift seat was not an option. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges on a 20-foot straight run. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use. The white handrail runs the full length, and the 600 lb capacity handles the power chair plus occupant. Six-hour install — the heavier rail sections and platform assembly took extra time. Indoor unit, white finish, battery-backed DC drive.

Common Questions

Everything Scenic Oaks Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Scenic Oaks?

A straight-rail stairlift in Scenic Oaks starts at $2,800 installed. Curved rails, which are custom-bent to your staircase after an on-site laser measurement, start at $9,000. Outdoor lifts for porch or entry steps start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models rated for 600 lb start at $5,050. All prices include the 3-hour install, the rail, the seat, and the battery backup. Financing runs $79/month through a third-party provider — no prepayment penalty.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more in Scenic Oaks than straight ones?

A curved rail is not an off-the-shelf part. It is a single piece of steel bent to match your exact staircase — the 90-degree turn in a River Rock Ranch split-level, the wrap-around landing in a Country Estates two-story. We spend an hour on site with a laser measurement tool that records every rise, run, and turn radius. That data goes to the fabrication shop, where the rail is cut and bent as one continuous piece. The rail itself costs more to make, and the measurement step adds labor. Straight rails, by contrast, come in standard lengths and install in about 3 hours with no measurement visit needed beforehand.

Are there any recurring costs after a Scenic Oaks stairlift install?

No mandatory recurring costs. The DC motor runs off a rechargeable battery that charges from a standard wall outlet — your electric bill won't notice it. The battery itself lasts 3-5 years under normal use and costs about $180 to replace when the time comes. We offer an annual service check for $149 that includes rail lubrication, battery load test, and safety sensor calibration. About half our Scenic Oaks customers do it; the other half call us if anything acts up. The 5-year warranty on the motor and drivetrain and the lifetime warranty on the rail are included in the install price.

What affects the final price of a stairlift in a Scenic Oaks home?

Three main factors. First, whether the rail is straight or curved — that's the biggest cost driver. Second, the length of the staircase: a 14-foot straight run costs less than a 22-foot run because the rail extrusion and the install labor both scale with length. Third, any access complications: if your home is in the original Scenic Oaks subdivision with a tight landing and a 90-degree turn at the bottom, that adds fabrication complexity. Outdoor installs on stone porch steps at a Threshold Ranch property may need a concrete pad poured for the lower rail mount — that's about $200 extra if needed. We give you a firm quote after measuring, before any work starts.

A word from Luis

Scenic Oaks is a different kind of install territory. These aren't tight San Antonio bungalows — they're Hill Country homes on acre-plus lots, many with split-level layouts and curved staircases. I've put rails into River Rock Ranch homes where the main staircase sweeps 90 degrees around a limestone half-wall. Country Estates has its share of two-story colonials with narrow treads. Threshold Ranch brings its own challenge: outdoor lifts that need IP55 sealing against Hill Country sun and the occasional ice storm.

The battery backup matters here more than people think. Summer thunderstorms knock out power along Boerne Stage Road two or three times a season, and when you're on an acre lot with a well pump, the outage can stretch hours. Every lift I install in Scenic Oaks gets the 4Ah battery regardless of whether the homeowner asks for it — I won't put someone's mom on a rail without it.

Most installs here take about 3 hours. The rail bolts to the treads, not the wall — drywall stays intact, no repainting needed. If you're in the original Scenic Oaks subdivision with the 1980s builds, those staircases are typically wider, which makes for a faster fit. The newer custom homes in River Rock Ranch sometimes have floating stairs or open risers, and those need a different mounting approach. Either way, we handle it.

— Luis Ramírez, Scenic Oaks
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Scenic Oaks sits in a practical spot for stairlift service — 25 minutes from the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center on Merton Minter Boulevard if you need to file a HISA grant in person, and 10 minutes from Boerne's Hill Country Mile if you want to grab lunch while the install finishes. The gated entry stations on Boerne Stage Road mean we coordinate access ahead of time, and we've done it enough that the gate staff know our trucks.

Whether you're in a 1980s build in the original Scenic Oaks subdivision with wider treads, a split-level in River Rock Ranch with a curved rail, or a Threshold Ranch property that needs an outdoor lift at the porch, the same approach holds: we measure, we bolt to the treads, we test the battery backup, and we're out in about 3 hours. Straight rail starts at $2,800, curved at $9,000, financing from $79 a month.
