Stairlift Service Across Jefferson County

Jefferson County, WA

We install across Port Townsend and all of Jefferson County. In the Uptown Historic District and Morgan Hill, the 1880s-1910s Victorians and Craftsmans have narrow, settled staircases that need careful laser measurement. Cape George Colony and Glen Cove homes from the 1980s tend to have standard straight or carpeted runs. North Beach and Fort Worden properties near the water get our marine-grade outdoor package for Strait of Juan de Fuca salt spray, and the Water Street Historic District sees converted-loft platform installs. We also serve Port Hadlock, Chimacum, and Port Ludlow at no travel charge.

Uptown Historic District — straight rail on original Douglas fir treads

Uptown Historic District, WA Installed February 2026

The Morrisons' 1889 Queen Anne on Clay Street has the original Douglas fir staircase — 14 steps, a straight run, treads worn smooth by 137 years of use. We bolted the rail to the treads to preserve the lath-and-plaster walls and set the seat at the bottom landing.

Morgan Hill, WA Installed March 2026

The Chens' 1912 Craftsman on Morgan Hill rises eight steps to a square landing, then turns 90 degrees for another six to the second floor. We laser-measured for an hour, custom-bent the rail, and parked the brown seat at the top with a powered swivel.

Glen Cove — slim rail past a sideboard on stone tile treads

Glen Cove, WA Installed January 2026

The Hendersons' 1940s Glen Cove cottage has a compact straight staircase with stone tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base — only 31 inches of width, just enough for the rail. We mounted it on the wall side to keep clear passing space at the cabinet.

North Beach — weather-sealed porch lift facing the Strait

North Beach, WA Installed October 2025

The Palmers' North Beach home sits three blocks from the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with salt spray every winter. We installed an IP55-rated outdoor lift with marine-grade seals on every joint and a UV-stabilized seat cover on the stone porch. One full winter later, the rail shows zero corrosion.

Water Street Historic District — indoor wheelchair platform

Water Street Historic District, WA Installed December 2025

The Washingtons own a converted loft in the Water Street Historic District — commercial below, living space above, with a straight 15-step staircase. Common Questions

Everything Port Townsend Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Port Townsend?

A straight-rail stairlift starts at $2,800 installed. Curved rails start at $9,000, and outdoor lifts for North Beach or waterfront homes start at $4,000. Heavy-duty units begin at $5,050. Every quote includes the rail, seat, installation by our local crew, and a full demo before we leave.

Why are curved stairlifts more expensive in Port Townsend?

Each curved rail is custom-fabricated for one staircase. A technician spends about an hour on site with a laser measuring every rise, run, and angle — essential in Port Townsend's settled Victorians where no two flights match. Fabrication then takes about three weeks.

Does the $2,800 straight-rail price include installation in Port Townsend?

Yes. The $2,800 starting price covers the rail, the seat unit, installation by our local Port Townsend crew, and a full demo. There's no extra charge for travel within Jefferson County — Port Hadlock, Chimacum, Port Ludlow, and Discovery Bay are all included.

Can I finance a stairlift in Port Townsend?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month through our partner lender — a quick application with a same-day decision, no prepayment penalty, and terms from 12 to 60 months. Many customers on a fixed income combine financing with a VA HISA grant or COPES coverage.

A word from Luis

Port Townsend's staircases are unlike anywhere else I've worked. In the Uptown Historic District I've measured stairs in 1890s Queen Annes with treads worn smooth by 130 years of use — every one measures differently because these houses have been settling for over a century. That's why I laser-measure on site instead of working from a template.

If your mom's house is one of those Victorians on the bluff, we put the lift in without drilling into the balusters or the carved newel post. The rail bolts to the treads, and when it eventually comes out, the holes fill and stain back to match.

— Luis Ramírez, Port Townsend
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

If your parent lives in one of Port Townsend's historic houses and the stairs are getting harder, call us. We'll come out, measure the staircase — every tread, rise, and turn — and give you a firm quote the same day. Most installs take about three hours, and the rail bolts to the treads, not the wall, so the original woodwork stays as it was in 1889.
