Stairlift Service Across Suffolk County

Suffolk County, NY

We serve the Village of Patchogue and the surrounding south-shore hamlets. The 1890s Victorians around Patchogue Village and South Ocean Avenue near the Carnegie Library have steep 30-to-32-inch staircases that need careful straight-rail measurement. East Patchogue and Hagerman Cape Cods carry tight top-landing turns that call for a curved rail. North Patchogue, around man-made Canaan Lake, runs to 1960s ranches with fully carpeted runs. Waterfront homes in Bayberry Dunes and along the Patchogue River need IP55 marine-grade outdoor lifts against Great South Bay salt air and nor'easters. We also reach the Fire Island communities of Davis Park and Water Island by the Patchogue-Watch Hill ferry, plus Holbrook, Holtsville, Medford, and Brookhaven.

Patchogue Highlands — straight rail on original 1925 oak treads

Patchogue Highlands, NY Installed March 2026

The O'Neills' 1925 colonial has the original oak treads, wide, solid, and worth preserving. A straight rail bolted directly to the treads with standard mounting brackets, keeping the plaster walls untouched. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing beside the entry-hall bench. The install took three hours, and the family had the upstairs bathroom accessible again the same afternoon.

East Patchogue — curved rail at the upper landing of a split-level

East Patchogue, NY Installed April 2026

The Ferraras' split-level has a 90-degree turn at the top where the staircase meets the hallway. A straight rail would have ended mid-stair, leaving three steps uncovered. Luis laser-measured the turn radius and ordered a custom-curved rail section. The brown seat now parks at the upper landing, out of the traffic path, and the chandelier above stayed in place with no clearance issues.

Hagerman — compact straight rail on stone-tile treads in a Cape Cod

Hagerman, NY Installed February 2026

The Jensens' 1954 Cape Cod has a narrow staircase, just 30 inches wide, with stone-tile treads laid in a 1990s remodel. A straight rail with a low-profile carriage fit the width, and the brown seat parks at the bottom near a wooden sideboard. The mounting brackets drilled into the tile treads, not the wall, so the original beadboard paneling along the stairwell stayed intact.

Canaan Lake — outdoor lift on a stone-paved front stoop

Canaan Lake, NY Installed May 2026

The Gallaghers' lake-access home has a stone-paved front stoop with seven steps, the only entrance. An IP55-rated outdoor stairlift with a marine-grade rail and sealed electronics was mounted to the stone treads with stainless hardware. The cream-colored seat parks at the top under the porch overhang, shielded from rain, and the unit has run without fault through a nor'easter and several summer storms.

North Patchogue — straight rail on a fully carpeted ranch staircase

North Patchogue, NY Installed January 2026

The Simmons' 1960s ranch has a fully carpeted staircase, 13 steps in beige cut-pile that matched the brown stairlift seat well. A straight rail mounted directly to the treads through the carpet, with the brackets gripping the underlying framing. No shims were needed and the carpet didn't bunch. The seat charges at the bottom landing next to the tiled foyer.

Common Questions

Everything Patchogue Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Patchogue?

A straight stairlift starts at $2,800 installed, curved lifts from $9,000, outdoor units from $4,000, and heavy-duty models from $5,050. All include the assessment, rail, seat, installation, battery backup, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage. Financing is available from $79/month with no prepayment penalty.

Does Medicare cover stairlift installation in Patchogue?

Medicare Parts A and B do not cover stairlifts; they're classified as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Suffolk County include a home-modification benefit, but coverage varies by plan, so check your specific policy or ask us to help you read the benefits summary.

Are there local Patchogue or Suffolk County programs that help pay for a stairlift?

Yes. The Town of Brookhaven runs a Residential Rehabilitation and Home Accessibility program using federal CDBG funds (a deferred loan for income-eligible homeowners). Suffolk County's Office for the Aging connects seniors to the United Way of Long Island Older Adult Home Modification Program, and New York's Access to Home program provides outright grants for accessibility work for low- and moderate-income residents with disabilities.

What financing options are available for a Patchogue stairlift?

Financing starts at $79/month with no prepayment penalty. Approval is credit-based and the online application takes about 10 minutes. There's no home-equity requirement and no property lien, so the lift doesn't tie up the house you're staying in.

A word from Luis

I've installed lifts in Patchogue for over a decade, and I know these houses. The Victorians on South Ocean Avenue near the Carnegie Library have steep, narrow staircases, 32 inches wide, not 36. A straight rail still works, but you have to measure twice. Over in Hagerman, those 1950s Cape Cods have a tight turn at the top landing where the stairs meet the hallway. That's a curved-rail job every time.

For waterfront homes near the Patchogue River, I always spec the outdoor model with the IP55 weather seal. Salt air off the Great South Bay eats through unprotected metal in two winters. The bolt-through mounting on the treads, not the wall, keeps the drywall intact in these older homes, which matters when there's lath-and-plaster behind the Sheetrock in a 1920s colonial. Call me at the number on this page and I'll come out and tell you exactly what fits.

— Luis Ramírez, Patchogue
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Patchogue has changed a lot. The downtown revival brought restaurants and a brewpub, and the LIRR now reaches Penn Station in about 90 minutes. But the housing stock is what it's always been: older homes built before anyone thought about aging in place. That 1910 Victorian on Lake Street near the Carnegie Library, or the 1960s ranch in North Patchogue, the staircase was built narrow because that's how they built them then. A stairlift fixes that without ripping out walls or losing a bedroom.

If you live in Patchogue, the Patchogue VA Clinic on Phyllis Drive can start the HISA grant paperwork for veterans. For everyone else, New York's NHTD Medicaid Waiver and the state Access to Home program cover stairlifts when medical necessity is documented. Call Luis at (800) 965-0350. He handles the assessment, the measurement, and the paperwork on the same visit. One trip, three hours, done.
