Stairlift Service Across Thurston County

Thurston County, WA

South Capitol between the Capitol Campus and Capitol Lake is Olympia’s premier historic residential area — 1900s–1930s craftsman bungalows with original fir treads, steep narrow staircases, and banisters homeowners have preserved for a century. The rail bolts into treads and never touches the banister or original millwork.

The Eastside has 1940s–50s ranches and bungalows with steep, narrow postwar staircases. Several residents are state employees on fixed incomes who qualify for the COPES waiver. West Olympia from Harrison Avenue to Black Lake has the widest housing range — 1970s split-levels where we install the most curved rails in Thurston County.

Lacey and Tumwater round out the metro. Lacey’s newer subdivisions near Hawks Prairie mean fast installs; Tumwater’s older homes have narrower stairs and occasional split-level layouts.

1921 South Capitol craftsman — rail color-matched to original Douglas fir treads

South Capitol, WA Installed March 2026

A 1921 craftsman two blocks from the Capitol Campus with original Douglas fir treads and a hand-turned banister the Andersons have maintained for three generations. Mrs. Anderson retired from the state legislature staff in 2018 and was clear: the banister stays untouched. We brought finish samples, matched the rail to the fir grain, and bolted the beige-seat track into the treads without grazing a single spindle.

90° landing turn in a 1974 West Olympia split-level — one rail, zero transfers

West Olympia, WA Installed February 2026

A 1974 split-level off Harrison Avenue with a 90° mid-landing — the standard West Olympia layout. Mr. Nakamura is a retired JBLM officer who settled in Thurston County after 24 years of service. His knees can no longer handle the turn. We scanned the staircase, fabricated a single curved rail, and installed in one afternoon. The brown-seat chair parks at the upper landing and swivels for a safe hallway exit.

1948 Eastside bungalow — compact rail beside the original wooden built-in

Eastside, WA Installed January 2026

A 1948 bungalow on the Eastside with stone-tile entry treads and an original wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that Mrs. Olsen’s husband built in 1963. She was clear: it doesn’t move. We mounted the brown-seat slim-profile rail along the wall side, cleared the sideboard with room to spare, and added a folding footrest. Mrs. Olsen qualified for the COPES waiver — the state paid directly.

Raised porch on a South Capitol home — marine-grade outdoor lift

South Capitol, WA Installed December 2025

A 1930s bungalow in South Capitol with a raised front porch and stone-paved exterior steps that are rain-slicked eight months a year. Mr. Washington is a Vietnam veteran who qualified for the HISA grant through the American Lake campus. We mounted a cream-seat outdoor lift with the full marine-grade package: epoxy rail coating, 316 stainless fasteners, sealed IP55 motor housing. It has run through two Pacific Northwest winters of steady rain without corrosion.

Lacey subdivision — carpeted stairs, swivel-exit, COPES-funded

Lacey, WA Installed November 2025

A 2004 two-story in a Lacey subdivision near Hawks Prairie with 14 carpeted treads and a landing that opens onto the upstairs hallway. Mrs. Hernández qualified for the COPES waiver — we coordinated with her DSHS case manager, got the stairlift written into the care plan, and the state paid the provider directly. The brown-seat model with swivel-exit rotates at the top so she steps off onto the hallway floor.

Indoor wheelchair platform for a West Olympia split-entry — HISA-funded

West Olympia, WA Installed October 2025

The Rivera’s father is a JBLM retiree who now uses a power wheelchair. The West Olympia split-entry home has five steps from the garage to the main floor. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with yellow high-visibility safety edges, a flat anti-slip deck, and a keyed call station at the lower landing. The HISA grant through American Lake covered the full cost. The platform has run daily for six months without a service call.

Common Questions

Everything Olympia Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Olympia right now?

Straight rails in standard Olympia homes — the South Capitol craftsmen, the West Olympia two-stories, the Lacey subdivisions — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-level landing turns common in West Olympia run $9,000 to $15,000. Outdoor models for raised porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Does the marine-grade coating cost extra on outdoor installs?

No. Every outdoor install in Thurston County ships with marine-grade epoxy rail coating, stainless fasteners, and a sealed motor housing as baseline spec. Olympia gets 50 inches of rain a year. An uncoated outdoor rail corrodes within two seasons. We build the marine-grade package into the standard quote.

Are prices different in Olympia than Tacoma or Seattle?

Equipment prices are the same across Washington. What varies is the service window — Olympia is our Thurston County base, so no travel fees apply. The marine-grade and condensation-resistant specs are the same standing upgrades we ship on every western Washington install.

My South Capitol home is over 100 years old. Does that change the cost?

The equipment price doesn’t change. What we do differently is bring finish samples to color-match the rail to original fir treads, use a slower drill speed to prevent splitting in old-growth wood, and position the rail on the tread edge to minimize visible holes. No extra charge for the preservation work.

A word from Luis

Most Olympia families call me after a near-miss on rain-slicked porch steps, a parent who hasn’t been upstairs since last fall, or a retired state employee whose Capitol Campus commute is over but whose two-story South Capitol craftsman still has 14 steps between the bedroom and the kitchen.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
