Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Lewis County

Lewis County, WA

From the steep, narrow staircases inside Tower Avenue Historic District Victorians — where original fir treads and ornate banisters date to the early 1900s — to the standard-width carpeted runs in the postwar ranches surrounding Borst Park, our crew has measured stairs across every Centralia neighborhood. Seminary Hill homes sit on graded lots where split-level entries and interior half-flights are common. The Centralia College area mixes older single-story cottages with two-story rentals converted back to family use. South Centralia's grid of 1940s and 1950s bungalows features compact staircases with steep pitches original to their construction. Fort Borst properties and the homes along the Skookumchuck River corridor often have raised entries with outdoor steps exposed to Lewis County's 45-plus inches of annual rainfall — every outdoor install here gets marine-grade stainless fasteners and sealed motor housings as standard.

1948 South Centralia bungalow — straight rail on original fir treads

South Centralia, WA Installed March 2026

A 1948 bungalow on Centralia's south side with 13 original Douglas fir treads and a narrow stairwell typical of postwar construction. Mrs. Mitchell had been sleeping in the downstairs den for two weeks after knee replacement surgery at Providence Centralia Hospital because the steep stairs to the bedrooms were off-limits. We laser-measured the 14-foot run, confirmed the dense fir treads could accept the mounting hardware without splitting, and installed the same week. The rail parks flush against the wall at the bottom. Mrs. Mitchell slept in her own bed that night for the first time in two weeks.

1965 Seminary Hill split-level — curved rail through a 90° landing turn

Seminary Hill, WA Installed February 2026

A 1965 split-level on Seminary Hill with five steps from the front entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, then nine more steps to the bedrooms. Mr. Novak is a retired Army combat engineer who served at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and has lived in this house since 1982. We laser-scanned the full run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries him from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat so he steps off onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread. His VA provider at the Chehalis VA Clinic wrote the HISA prescription and the grant covered $6,800 of the cost.

1908 Tower Avenue Victorian — slim-profile rail on steep original staircase

Tower Avenue Historic District, WA Installed January 2026

A 1908 Victorian on Tower Avenue with a steep, narrow staircase only 31 inches wide between the original banister and the plaster wall. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom of the stairs in the entry hall. The dense old-growth fir treads gave the slim-profile rail solid anchoring — folded, the seat and rail together take up just 11 inches, leaving 20 inches of clear passage. We never touched the original banister. Mrs. Marsh's physical therapist at Providence Centralia said it was the cleanest install she had seen in a historic Lewis County home.

Fort Borst area ranch — outdoor lift with marine-grade hardware on mossy porch steps

Fort Borst area, WA Installed December 2025

A 1955 ranch near Fort Borst Park with a raised front porch and six concrete steps that collect moss and standing water from October through April. Mrs. Wallace slipped twice last winter before her son finally called. We installed the outdoor lift with 316 marine-grade stainless fasteners instead of standard zinc-plated, an IP55-sealed motor housing that keeps out rain and windblown debris, and a fitted cover that sheds water and prevents moss growth on the seat. The battery backup keeps the lift running during Pacific storm power outages common in Lewis County. Mrs. Wallace has not worried about those steps since the install.

Borst Park ranch — straight rail, same-week install

Borst Park area, WA Installed November 2025

A mid-century ranch near Borst Park with a standard 36-inch-wide staircase and carpeted treads. Mr. Christiansen's daughter in Tacoma called on Monday, we measured Tuesday, and the install crew was at the house Thursday morning. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. The seat folds flat against the wall, and the wider staircase in this neighborhood made it one of the cleanest installs we have done in Centralia. Mr. Christiansen said the installer explained every button twice and left a printed manual on the wall next to the controls.

Platform Lift

Centralia College area home — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Centralia College area, WA Installed October 2025

A two-story home near Centralia College where Mr. Herrera uses a power wheelchair full-time after a logging accident in the Gifford Pinchot. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and the COPES Waiver covered the remaining balance through his DSHS Home and Community Services coordinator. Mr. Herrera rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Centralia Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Centralia, WA?

Straight rails in standard Centralia homes — the ranches near Borst Park, the bungalows in South Centralia, the postwar homes along Harrison Avenue — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for landing turns in Seminary Hill split-levels and Tower Avenue Victorians run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Do outdoor stairlifts cost more because of all the rain?

No. Marine-grade stainless fasteners and sealed motor housings are baseline on every Lewis County outdoor install — not an upcharge. Centralia averages over 45 inches of rain per year and moss grows on exposed surfaces within weeks. We spec 316 stainless steel fasteners, IP55-sealed motor housings, and UV-stabilized upholstery rated for 2,000+ hours of Pacific Northwest weather exposure. These are standard on every Centralia outdoor quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Moving costs in Lewis County — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposit — typically run $8,000 to $18,000 minimum. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you've owned for decades, in the neighborhood you know, near the doctors and friends you already have. For most Centralia families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing in Centralia?

Yes. We offer fixed-rate financing from $79 per month with no prepayment penalties. Most Centralia homeowners choose 36- or 60-month terms. You can also combine financing with VA HISA grant funds or Washington COPES Waiver coverage to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket cost. We walk you through every option during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Most Centralia families call after a scare on the stairs — a slip on rain-slick treads in a Tower Avenue Victorian, a father who hasn't been upstairs since hip surgery at Providence Centralia Hospital, a daughter in Seattle worried about her parents in a postwar ranch near Borst Park that they've owned for forty years and refuse to leave.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
