Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Nassau County

Nassau County, NY

North Merrick sits north of Sunrise Highway, between Roosevelt and North Bellmore. Three elementary schools anchor the grid — Camp Avenue, Harold D. Fayette, and Old Mill Road — and most homes were built between 1940 and 1969 as Capes, colonials, and split-levels with hardwood treads. The Brookside blocks off Meadowbrook Road and the Park Avenue School area cover the western residential pocket, with wider mid-1960s colonial staircases. The historic Camp Grounds — the 1869 Methodist retreat known locally as Tiny Town, north of Camp Avenue — still has some of the tightest staircases on Long Island. Wenshaw Park off Jerusalem Avenue and Lindenmere on Lindenmere Drive round out the older homes with narrower treads and 90-degree landings.

1952 Cape on Oak Treads — Camp Avenue Area

Camp Avenue area, NY Installed February 2026

Classic 1952 North Merrick cape near Camp Avenue School. Dark hardwood treads, 32-inch-wide staircase — tight enough that another company said it wouldn't fit. Our compact straight rail cleared with room to fold the seat to 12 inches. Bolted to the oak treads at five points. Mrs. Kowalski, 81, now gets from her upstairs bedroom to the kitchen on her own.

1948 Two-Story off Meadowbrook Road, Curved at Upper Landing

Meadowbrook Road corridor, NY Installed January 2026

The Morettis' 1948 two-story off Meadowbrook Road, near Brookside School, has the classic North Merrick post-war geometry — straight first flight, then a sharp 90-degree turn at the upper landing. Laser measurement took one hour on site. The custom-bent curved rail hugs the turn exactly, and the brown-upholstered seat parks at the top landing under a chandelier. No wall drilling — all brackets on the treads.

Compact Cottage Install — Camp Grounds (Tiny Town)

Camp Grounds, NY Installed March 2026

One of the historic Camp Grounds cottages, built around 1910 and converted to year-round residential. Stone-tile treads, 29-inch staircase, very little landing space at the bottom near a wooden sideboard. The compact straight rail tucks in tight — seat folds to 12 inches so other family members pass comfortably. The Hendersons had been using a first-floor daybed for two years before calling us.

Raised-Ranch Porch Entry — Wenshaw Park

Wenshaw Park, NY Installed December 2025

Raised ranch off Jerusalem Avenue in Wenshaw Park with six stone-paved steps from the driveway to the front door. The Gallaghers' mother slipped on those steps during the January 2025 freeze and broke her wrist. IP55-rated outdoor unit, cream finish, marine-grade coating against south-shore breeze humidity and snow melt. Remote control at the bottom of the steps — she parks, presses the fob, and rides up without touching the icy stone.

1965 Colonial on Carpeted Stairs — Park Avenue School Area

Park Avenue School area, NY Installed October 2025

Mid-1960s colonial a few blocks from Park Avenue School at 1599 Park Avenue. Wall-to-wall beige carpet on the treads — the brown-upholstered seat was chosen to match. Fourteen steps, standard width, straight rail bolted through the carpet into the wood treads beneath. The carpet doesn't affect the mount stability. Mrs. Simmons, 76, had been sleeping downstairs in the den for six months before the install.

Indoor Wheelchair Platform — Lindenmere Split-Level

Lindenmere, NY Installed April 2026

Split-level home on Lindenmere Drive. The Dawsons' son uses a wheelchair full-time and the half-flight between the living room and bedroom level was the barrier. Inclined platform lift with flat black deck, yellow safety edges, and white handrail — carries the wheelchair plus occupant up to 600 pounds. Common Questions

Everything North Merrick Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in North Merrick?

A straight stairlift in North Merrick starts at $2,800 installed. That covers a standard 12- to 14-step colonial or cape staircase — the most common configuration in homes built between 1940 and 1969. Curved lifts for staircases with turns or landings start at $9,000 because each rail is custom-bent after a laser measurement. Outdoor units for porch entries start at $4,000. All prices include the assessment, install, and a 5-year warranty.

How does financing work for a stairlift in Nassau County?

We offer financing from $79/month through a third-party provider. No prepayment penalty, and you can pay off the balance early without extra fees. The application takes about 10 minutes and you'll get an answer same-day. Most North Merrick families we work with choose the 36-month term, but 24, 48, and 60-month options are available.

Are there any hidden fees — permits, disposal, travel charges?

No. The quoted price is what you pay. North Merrick does not require a building permit for a stairlift install — it's classified as a temporary home modification, not a structural change. Old-unit removal is included if you're replacing an existing lift. There's no travel charge for any Nassau County install.

What's the price difference between a straight and curved stairlift in North Merrick?

A straight rail starts at $2,800. A curved rail starts at $9,000. The difference is the custom fabrication — a curved rail is bent to match your specific stair turn after a 1-hour laser measurement on site. In North Merrick, roughly one in four homes needs a curved rail, usually because of a 90-degree turn at a landing or a staircase that splits mid-flight in a split-level.

A word from Luis

North Merrick has a housing stock you don't see in newer suburbs — homes built between 1940 and 1969 with real wood treads, narrow staircases, and tight landings. I've installed lifts in capes off Camp Avenue, split-levels near Old Mill Road, and even a few of the tiny historic cottages in the Camp Grounds north of the school. The stair geometry here means you measure carefully — you cannot guess on a 34-inch-wide staircase with a turn at the landing, and the older Brookside-area colonials off Meadowbrook Road have those tight 90-degree turns at the top.

What I tell families around here is that a straight-rail install on a standard colonial staircase takes about three hours. We bolt the rail to the treads, not the wall — your drywall stays exactly as it is. And with the south-shore winters we get, the battery backup matters. Every lift we put in carries a 4Ah battery that runs through a full-day outage. I've been doing this on Long Island long enough to know what holds up in these older homes.

— Luis Ramírez, North Merrick
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

If your mom lives in North Merrick and the stairs are becoming a daily risk, you've got options that work with these older Long Island homes. A straight lift on a colonial staircase off Old Mill Road installs in a morning. The HISA grant through the Northport VA system covers up to $6,800 for veterans — enough to put in a straight rail with nothing out of pocket. And the NHTD Medicaid Waiver covers environmental modifications at 100% of approved cost for qualifying Nassau County residents.

Call us at (800) 965-0350 or fill out the form on this page. Luis does the assessment himself — he'll measure your specific staircase, check the tread depth and landing clearance, and tell you whether you need a straight rail or a custom curved one. Same-day quote, no pressure, and most installs are done within the week.
