Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Nassau County

Nassau County, NY

North Wantagh is the area above Jerusalem Avenue — a hamlet within the Town of Hempstead that shares the 11793 ZIP code with Wantagh proper. The housing stock is overwhelmingly post-war: Cape Cods, split-levels, and colonials built between 1948 and 1965, many with narrow staircases under 34 inches wide. Forest City, developed on what was once the Ogden Phipps hunting estate, has some of the neighborhood's oldest homes and gentlest terrain. Duck Pond Drive and the streets off it are classic Levitt-style Capes on concrete slabs — straight-stair installs, tread-mounted rails. Twin Lane and Lea Ann Terrace tilt more toward expanded split-levels with half-landings that need curved rails. We also serve Mandalay, Wantagh Woods, Forest Lake, and the homes along the Seaford and Levittown borders.

Straight

Levitt Cape on Duck Pond Drive

Duck Pond Drive, NY Installed February 2026

Classic 1951 Levitt Cape with oak treads on the original staircase — 33 inches wide, 13 feet of rail. The Morrisons' 79-year-old mother had been sleeping on a pullout in the den for four months after a near-fall. Straight rail, beige seat at the bottom landing, tread-mounted with five bolts. No wall damage to the original plaster. She was using the upstairs bathroom again the same evening.

Split-Level Curve on Lea Ann Terrace

Lea Ann Terrace, NY Installed January 2026

1963 split-level with a 90-degree turn at the half-landing. The Kaufmans' father has Parkinson's and had stopped using the stairs entirely. Curved rail laser-measured on site, bent at the factory, dark brown seat parked at the upper landing. The chandelier at the landing stayed untouched — the rail curves around it cleanly. Install took a single afternoon.

Colonial on Tardy Lane North

Tardy Lane North, NY Installed March 2026

A 1958 colonial with tile-over-concrete treads and a straight 15-foot staircase. The DeMarcos needed a lift for their 82-year-old father after knee replacement surgery. Brown seat at the bottom near a wooden sideboard in a compact entryway. The rail fit snug against the wall, leaving the stairway fully passable for other family members. Temporary need that became permanent within a month.

Porch Entry off the Seaford Border

North Wantagh-Seaford border, NY Installed October 2025

Six stone-flagged front-porch steps on a street near the Seaford line. The Thompsons' mother couldn't manage the rise anymore. Cream outdoor lift with IP55 weather sealing, marine-grade cover over the seat track. Rail anchored to the stone with stainless hardware. Survived the 2025-2026 winter — two nor'easters, salt spray, and freezing rain — without a single fault.

Carpeted Cape near Forest City Park

Forest City, NY Installed April 2026

A 1954 Cape Cod two blocks from Forest City Community Park. Fully carpeted stairs — beige pile that matched the brown seat perfectly. 14-foot straight run, standard residential install. The Brennans put off getting a lift for two years; the deciding factor was their mother missing her grandson's Little League games at the park because she couldn't get down the front steps. Now she's at every Saturday game.

Jerusalem Avenue corridor, NY Installed May 2026

A 1960s colonial near the Wantagh-Seaford line where the son uses a wheelchair full-time. Indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black deck, yellow safety edges, and a white handrail — 600 lb capacity. The staircase is straight, 16 feet, tiled treads. Common Questions

Everything North Wantagh Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in North Wantagh?

A straight stairlift in North Wantagh starts at $2,800 installed. That covers the rail, seat, battery backup, and installation. Most of the Cape Cods and colonials here have staircases between 12 and 16 feet — the rail is cut to your exact stair length. If your staircase is wider than standard or needs a power outlet added, that adds a small amount, but we cover all of that at the free assessment.

How much is a curved stairlift for a North Wantagh split-level?

Curved stairlifts start at $9,000 in North Wantagh. The price depends on how many turns your staircase has — split-levels on Lea Ann Terrace and Twin Lane typically have one 90-degree turn at the half-landing. The measurement visit takes about an hour with a laser scanner, and the rail is custom-bent at the factory to match your exact stair geometry. Lead time is usually two to three weeks from measurement to install.

Are there financing options for a stairlift in Nassau County?

Yes. We offer financing starting at $79/month through third-party lenders. Most North Wantagh families choose a 36- or 60-month term. There's no prepayment penalty, and the application takes about ten minutes. We can walk you through it at the assessment.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in New York?

Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not cover stairlifts — they're classified as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. However, New York Medicaid's Community First Choice Option (CFCO) and the NHTD Waiver can cover stairlifts for eligible recipients. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Nassau County offer supplemental home-modification benefits. We help you check your specific plan during the assessment.

A word from Luis

I've done more installs in North Wantagh than I can count — the housing stock here is almost entirely post-war, and that creates a specific set of challenges. All those Levitt-style Cape Cods on Twin Lane and Duck Pond Drive? The staircases are narrow — usually about 32 inches between walls. A standard straight rail fits, but you need the slim-rail option, and you have to mount to the treads, not the wall, because half those walls are plaster over gypsum lath from 1951. Split-levels are the other big category around here — Lea Ann Terrace, Downhill Lane, that whole corridor. Those half-flights with a landing mean a curved rail every time. We come out, laser-measure the turn, and the rail gets bent to match at the factory. Takes about an hour on site.

The other thing about North Wantagh is how many families here are multigenerational now — a lot of those original 1950s homeowners are in their 80s and 90s, and their kids have moved back in or never left. When I do an assessment on Tardy Lane or over in Forest City, I'm usually talking to the adult daughter. Her mom fell last month and now nobody sleeps well. We get the lift in within a week of the deposit, and the install itself is about three hours. Bolt to the treads, plug into a standard outlet, test it five times, walk the family through the controls. The battery backup runs about six hours if the power cuts — and out here, with nor'easters knocking out lines a couple times a winter, that matters.

— Luis Ramírez, North Wantagh
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

North Wantagh is the kind of place where people stay. Those Cape Cods off Duck Pond Drive and the split-levels along Twin Lane aren't starter homes anymore — they're where someone's 82-year-old mom still lives, and where her daughter comes by every evening after work to check in. A stairlift here isn't a renovation project. It's the difference between sleeping downstairs on a pullout couch and getting back to your own bedroom on the second floor.

We've put lifts into Forest City, into the Levitt-style homes near the Seaford border, into colonials off Jerusalem Avenue — we know these houses. If you want to know whether your staircase can take a straight rail or needs a curved one, call Luis. He'll come out, measure, and give you a real answer — no pressure, no sales pitch, just someone who knows these homes and has installed in most of them already.
