Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Yamhill County

Yamhill County, OR

The Knob Hill Historic District holds most of Newberg's 1910s Craftsman bungalows and Queen Anne Victorians — narrow staircases with oak treads, often 32 inches wide, anchored by landmarks like the Spaulding House on East Sheridan. Springbrook and The Greens, built from the 1990s forward, have wider carpeted stairs but steep rises common in two-story floor plans. On Chehalem Mountain, hillside homes sit on slopes with curved staircases wrapping around landings — a standard straight rail usually won't work. In Ewing Young and Jaquith Park, mid-century ranches tuck single-level living around split-level entries where a short straight lift covers 6 to 8 steps. North Newberg and College Park near George Fox add a mix of 1960s ranches and newer infill.

Three-bedroom Craftsman on North College Street, a short walk from the Spaulding House. Dark oak treads original to 1916, 34 inches wide with 8-inch risers. Ewing Young Porch Entry — Outdoor Lift on Flagstone

Ewing Young, OR Installed October 2025

Single-level home with a side-porch entry up 7 flagstone steps. The homeowners had been carrying groceries up those uneven stones for years — a fall on wet flagstone last autumn pushed them to call. IP55-sealed outdoor rail, cream-colored weatherproof seat. Rail anchored into the stone with stainless hardware. Natural daylight pours over the entry — the lift sits exposed but has held up through a full Willamette Valley winter with no issues.

Common Questions

Everything Newberg Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Newberg?

A straight stairlift in Newberg starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 because each rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement. Outdoor lifts, common on Newberg's flagstone porch entries, start at $4,000. Heavy-duty units rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. The final price depends on rail length and the number of turns — we give you a firm quote at the assessment, never an estimate that climbs later.

What financing options are available in Newberg?

We offer financing from $79/month with approved credit. Many Newberg clients combine financing with Oregon K Plan Medicaid coverage (up to $5,000 per home modification) or the VA HISA grant ($6,800 for service-connected veterans). The Yamhill County Veterans Services office on NE 5th Street in McMinnville helps with HISA paperwork.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Newberg?

Medicare Parts A and B do not cover stairlifts — they classify them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. But Oregon's K Plan (Community First Choice) Medicaid waiver covers up to $5,000 per modification, and the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Yamhill County include a home-modification allowance — worth checking your specific plan.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more than straight ones in Newberg?

A curved rail is a single piece of steel bent to match your exact staircase — no generic template works. Luis takes a one-hour laser measurement at your home. The rail is fabricated to spec and ships pre-bent. The extra cost is in the custom manufacturing, not the install labor. In Newberg's Chehalem Mountain homes, where staircases curve around a hillside landing, curved is often the only option.

A word from Luis

The Knob Hill Historic District is where I do most of my installs in Newberg. Those 1910s Craftsman bungalows have oak staircases but they're steep — 8-inch risers, 32-inch tread width. A straight rail bolts onto those old-growth treads without touching the original woodwork. Out on Chehalem Mountain, I see a lot of curved installs where the staircase turns around a landing with vineyard views. And Springbrook? Those 1990s two-stories almost always have carpeted stairs with a 180-degree landing turn — curved rail comes up from the manufacturer pre-bent after a one-hour laser measurement on site. I've also done outdoor lifts in Ewing Young for folks who enter through a side porch with flagstone steps. The Willamette Valley's wet winters mean the outdoor unit needs full IP55 weather sealing, but once it's in, those folks can get from the driveway to the kitchen without touching a stair.

The VA process trips people up. We work with the Portland VA Medical Center at 3710 SW US Veterans Hospital Road and the Hillsboro VA Clinic — both about 20 to 30 minutes from Newberg. The HISA grant covers $6,800 for service-connected veterans. I've had clients get a straight lift fully covered. Oregon's K Plan also helps — up to $5,000 per modification for Medicaid recipients. Between those two programs, half my Newberg clients pay little or nothing out of pocket.

— Luis Ramírez, Newberg
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Newberg sits in the heart of the Willamette Valley, about 25 miles southwest of Portland along Highway 99W. The city's housing stock spans three eras — 1910s Craftsman bungalows in the Knob Hill district, mid-century ranches in Jaquith Park and Ewing Young, and 1990s–2000s two-story subdivisions like Springbrook. Each era brings its own stair geometry, and we stock rails and carriage configurations for all of them.

If you're in Newberg and ready to get a stairlift in, call us at (800) 965-0350 or fill out the form on this page. Luis does the assessment on site — measurements take about an hour, and most installs are done within the same week. The Chehalem Senior Center at 101 W Foothills Drive has our cards on the bulletin board if you want to ask around first.
