Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Fauquier County

Fauquier County, VA

New Baltimore spreads across eastern Fauquier County with a mix of housing stock that affects stairlift selection directly. Snow Hill — 164 single-family homes on 360 wooded, rolling acres — has mostly colonials and ramblers from the 1990s and 2000s, standard 13- to 15-step straight staircases. Vint Hill, the former Army signal-intelligence base converted to residential use, brings split-levels and newer craftsman-style builds, many with staircases that turn at mid-landing. The Historic District along Old Alexandria Turnpike holds 55 contributing structures dating to the 1820s — narrow treads, winder stairs, and tight clearances are common here. Broad Run and Breyerton have larger-lot homes with deep front porches and exterior stair access. Buckland and the Route 29 corridor feature newer construction with code-width straight staircases.

Snow Hill Colonial — Straight Rail, Dark Hardwood

Snow Hill, VA Installed March 2026

The Pattersons' 2004 colonial in Snow Hill had a standard 14-riser straight staircase with dark oak treads. Mrs. Patterson, 78, was avoiding the second floor entirely after a hip surgery. Luis bolted the cream-colored rail directly to the treads — no drywall cuts, no wall brackets. The seat parks at the bottom landing, matching the warm indoor tones of the entryway. From arrival to test ride: just under three hours.

Vint Hill Split-Level — 90° Curve at Upper Landing

Vint Hill, VA Installed January 2026

The Reeves' Vint Hill split-level had a staircase that bent 90 degrees at the upper landing, wrapping past a half-wall beneath a chandelier. The brown upholstered seat needed a custom-bent rail — laser-measured on site, then fabricated to match the turn exactly. The rail hugs the half-wall contour and parks the seat at the top floor, out of the hallway.

Historic District Cottage — Stone Treads, Compact Fit

Historic District, VA Installed February 2026

The Webbers' 1840s cottage on Old Alexandria Turnpike had stone-tile treads and a compact staircase only 30 inches wide. A wooden sideboard sat at the base, limiting clearance. Luis used a slim-rail straight model that bolted to the stone treads with masonry anchors. The brown seat tucks against the wall near the sideboard when parked. The narrow-fit rail preserved walking space on the steps for other family members.

Outdoor

Broad Run Porch Entry — Weather-Sealed Outdoor Lift

Broad Run, VA Installed November 2025

The Staffords' Broad Run property had a six-step stone-paved front porch entry exposed to full weather. Mrs. Stafford, 82, could no longer handle the stone steps safely after a fall. Luis installed a cream-colored IP55 outdoor unit — marine-grade rail, UV-stabilized seat cover, and a 4Ah battery that holds through Fauquier County power outages. The rail is anchored to the stone pavers.

Breyerton Rambler — Carpeted Stairs, Standard Straight Fit

Breyerton, VA Installed December 2025

The Lawsons' Breyerton rambler had a 13-riser carpeted staircase running up to the upper-bedroom hallway, brown carpet matched to the seat upholstery. The rail bolted through the carpet into the wood treads beneath, with tile flooring at the base where the rail ends. Mr. Lawson, a Vietnam-era veteran, used the HISA grant — Luis helped process the application through the Washington DC VA Medical Center.

Platform Lift

Mill Run Wheelchair Platform — Full Second-Floor Access

Mill Run, VA Installed May 2026

The Crawfords' Mill Run home needed a wheelchair solution, not a seat lift. Luis spec'd an indoor inclined platform lift — black flat deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail — rated to 600 lb. The platform folds against the wall when not in use. The DC motor and battery backup keep it running through the storm outages that hit the Mill Run corridor off Route 29.

Common Questions

Everything New Baltimore Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in New Baltimore, Virginia?

A straight stairlift in New Baltimore starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement on site. Outdoor lifts for Broad Run or Breyerton porch entries start at $4,000 with IP55 weather sealing. Heavy-duty models rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. These prices include the rail, seat, battery backup, and our 3-hour install. No hidden charges for the Fauquier County service area.

Are there extra fees for older homes in the New Baltimore Historic District?

No surcharge for the age of the house, but curved-rail installs cost more because the rail has to be factory-bent to match the specific turn geometry of your stairs. Historic District homes along Old Alexandria Turnpike — particularly the 1840s Federal-style dwellings with narrow winder treads — almost always need a curved rail. The 1-hour laser measurement tells us exactly what the bend pattern will be. The price difference is the rail fabrication, not an old-house fee.

Does Medicare cover a stairlift in Fauquier County?

Medicare does not cover stairlifts — they are classified as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. But Virginia's CCC Plus Waiver (Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus) does fund environmental modifications, including stairlifts, for Medicaid-enrolled residents who qualify. And the Virginia Livable Home Tax Credit offers up to $6,500 against state income tax for qualifying accessibility modifications. We help New Baltimore families work through both programs during the assessment.

What financing options are available for a stairlift in New Baltimore?

Financing starts at $79/month through our third-party lender. There's no prepayment penalty, and most approvals come through in under an hour. For New Baltimore veterans, the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected disabilities — tax-free, one-time, and never repaid. We walk you through the prescription and application steps using the Washington DC VA Medical Center on Irving Street as the processing hub, with the Warrenton CBOC at 60 Hospital Drive handling the local medical-necessity letter.

A word from Luis

New Baltimore is the kind of place where the house tells you what kind of install it needs before you even measure. Up in Snow Hill, I'm usually looking at newer colonials with straight 13- to 15-riser staircases — three-hour bolt-to-tread jobs. Over in the Historic District along Old Alexandria Turnpike, those 1840s Federal-style homes throw you narrow stairwells with winder treads and low headroom. That's a custom-curved-rail day, and I've done enough of them there that I can tell you which houses will need it just from the exterior photos.

Vint Hill is its own thing. A lot of those homes went up during the 1990s and early 2000s conversion of the old Army base, so you get wider stairs and open floor plans. But the development has a lot of split-levels and two-story foyers where the staircase turns at a landing. Outdoor installs are common in the Broad Run and Breyerton areas where folks have long front porches and stone entryways — the IP55 weather-sealed rail holds up through Fauquier County's freeze-thaw winters. If you're near Lake Brittle or out toward Buckland, give me a call. I've probably already done a house on your road.

— Luis Ramírez, New Baltimore
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

New Baltimore sits on a quiet stretch of Route 29 between Warrenton and Gainesville, but the stairlift need here is real — aging-in-place families in Snow Hill, veterans settling into Vint Hill, and owners of historic homes along Old Alexandria Turnpike who want to keep using their upper floors. Every install we do here accounts for Fauquier County's winter freeze-thaw cycles, especially on outdoor rails.

Whether you're five minutes from Lake Brittle or back in the wooded lots off Broad Run Church Road, we handle the whole process — measurement, install, and the funding paperwork. The Washington DC VA Medical Center on Irving Street processes HISA grants for Fauquier County veterans, with the Warrenton CBOC at 60 Hospital Drive as the closer primary-care touchpoint. Virginia's CCC Plus Waiver covers environmental modifications for Medicaid-enrolled residents. Call us at (800) 965-0350 or request an assessment online.
