Stairlift Service Across Plymouth County

Plymouth County, MA

Middleborough is the second-largest town by land area in Massachusetts — 72 square miles — so housing stock shifts neighborhood to neighborhood. The Center Historic District holds Greek Revival and Italianate homes from the 1840s–1880s, most with narrow, steep staircases. South Middleborough's village center has capes and colonials from the late 1700s, often with winder turns. Oak Point, the largest 55+ community in the state, runs manufactured homes on slab where straight rails bolt to the treads. Rock Village has older ranches and split-levels — wider stairs but headroom issues at the turn. Thomastown and North Middleborough trend toward mid-century ranches and newer colonials on larger lots.

Straight

Straight Rail on Hardwood in a Center Historic District Colonial

Center Historic District, MA Installed February 2026

The Hendersons' 1870s Italianate on South Main Street had original wide-plank oak treads — beautiful but worn smooth over 150 years. The staircase runs straight for 12 feet with a standard rise, but the treads had cupped slightly, so Luis leveled the rail brackets individually rather than using a uniform mount. The beige seat at the bottom landing parks tight against the newel post, leaving a clear walking path to the kitchen.

Curved

Curved Rail at Upper Landing in a South Middleborough Colonial

South Middleborough, MA Installed January 2026

A 1787 center-chimney colonial with a 90° turn at the upper landing — the staircase bends around a half-wall overlooking the foyer. A chandelier hangs above, so the rail had to hug the inside radius without any top over-run encroaching on the walking path. Luis laser-measured every tread and the factory bent a continuous rail to match.

Straight

Straight Rail on Stone Treads in a Rock Village Cottage

Rock Village, MA Installed March 2026

A compact cottage-style home on Rocky Cutter Street with a short staircase — nine stone-faced treads, each slightly different in thickness. The staircase runs alongside a wooden sideboard that the family didn't want to move, so Luis mounted the rail on the treads with the seat folding up to clear the cabinet by two inches. Brown upholstery matched the dark wood trim throughout the downstairs.

Outdoor

Weather-Sealed Outdoor Lift on an Oak Point Porch

Oak Point, MA Installed October 2025

A raised front porch in Oak Point with seven stone-paved steps — the homeowner had been avoiding the porch entirely since a hip replacement. Luis installed an IP55-rated outdoor straight rail with a cream-colored weatherproof seat. The rail is marine-grade aluminum, powder-coated against the salt air and freeze-thaw cycles that hit Plymouth County each winter. The seat cover sheds rain and snow, and a key lock prevents unauthorized use.

Straight

Straight Rail on Carpeted Stairs in a Thomastown Ranch

Thomastown, MA Installed April 2026

A 1970s ranch near the Middleborough-Lakeville line with a carpeted staircase leading to three bedrooms and a bath. The brown upholstery blends with the taupe carpet, and the rail brackets were mounted directly through the carpet and pad into the tread structure beneath — no carpet damage, no pulling or bunching. The staircase is standard-width with a gentle rise, so Luis used a stock straight rail and cut it to length on site.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift in a North Middleborough Home

North Middleborough, MA Installed February 2026

The Davises' son uses a power wheelchair after a spinal cord injury and couldn't access the second floor of their North Middleborough ranch. Luis installed an inclined platform lift on the straight main staircase — a flat black deck with yellow safety edges that auto-stop on contact. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use, leaving the stairs fully walkable.

Common Questions

Everything Middleborough Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Middleborough?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your stair geometry after a laser measurement on site. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models (up to 600 lb capacity) start at $5,050. These prices include the assessment, rail, carriage, seat, installation, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage. Luis does the measurement at no charge — you'll have a firm quote before committing.

Are there lower-cost options for straight stairs in Middleborough?

The $2,800 straight rail is the entry price and covers most capes and ranches in town. If budget is tight, financing runs from $79/month with no prepayment penalty. The Massachusetts Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP) also offers zero-interest loans up to $50,000 for homeowners — that covers a stairlift and other accessibility work in one application. Call CEDAC at 1-866-500-5599 to check eligibility.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more in Middleborough?

Curved rails are not off-the-shelf. Luis does a 45-minute laser measurement on your staircase — capturing every turn, rise, and run — and the rail is bent at the factory to that exact profile. Middleborough's older homes often have 2–3 turns and non-standard rise heights, which adds fabrication time. The install itself takes about 5–6 hours versus 3 for a straight rail.

Does MassHealth cover stairlift costs in Massachusetts?

The MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver (FEW) can cover home accessibility modifications including stairlifts for residents who meet nursing-home-level care criteria. Approval goes through your managed care organization or Aging Services Access Point (ASAP). Coverage is not automatic — it requires a clinical assessment and prior authorization. Separately, the HMLP zero-interest loan (up to $50,000) is available regardless of MassHealth enrollment.

A word from Luis

Middleborough homes run the full range — you've got the 1840s Greek Revivals on North Main with staircases under 30 inches, and then newer colonials in Thomastown where the stairs are wider but there's a 180° turn halfway up. I've done installs in the Center Historic District where the treads are original wide-plank pine and the homeowner doesn't want a single hole beyond the bolt points. We work around that.

Oak Point is probably a third of my installs. Those are manufactured homes on slab — one level living mostly, but the ones with a second story or a raised entry need a straight rail, and the install is fast because the floor structure is predictable. The bigger challenge is the old capes in South Middleborough and Rock Village, where the staircase might have settled over 250 years. Laser measurement catches that — we don't show up with a prefabricated rail and hope it fits.

If you're near Plymouth Street or out toward the Nemasket, give me a call. I measure on site, no charge, and I'll tell you honestly whether a straight rail works or you need curved. Most of the time I can have the lift in within a week of the measurement.

— Luis Ramírez, Middleborough
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Middleborough's mix of housing — 18th-century capes, 19th-century Greek Revivals, mid-century ranches, and the Oak Point 55+ community — means no two stairlift installs look the same here. We measure every staircase with a laser before ordering a rail, so the fit accounts for settled treads, odd turns, and tight landings that are common in Plymouth County's older homes.

Luis Ramírez handles every Middleborough assessment himself. Call or fill out the form above — he brings the laser, takes about 45 minutes to measure and quote, and can usually schedule the install inside a week. Straight rails from $2,800, curved from $9,000, financing from $79/month.
