Stairlift Service Across Marinette County

Marinette County, WI

Marinette's housing stock tells the story of a lumber-boom town that never stopped being home. The Riverside Avenue Historic District holds the city's grandest homes — Queen Anne and Colonial Revival builds from 1880–1910 with wide oak staircases that get harder to climb every year. City Center, clustered near Main and Ludington, has compact worker cottages from the same era, many with steep enclosed stairwells where a straight rail tucks tight against the wall. Marinette East and Marinette Southwest are where you find mid-century ranches and split-levels — wider treads but often that half-flight turn at the landing that calls for a curved rail. Shore Drive along Green Bay has waterfront homes where outdoor lifts stand up to lake-effect snow and freeze-thaw.

Straight

Straight Rail on Historic Oak Staircase

Riverside Avenue Historic District, WI Installed March 2026

The Callahans live in a 1902 Queen Anne on Riverside Avenue with original dark oak treads and a straight flight from the foyer to the second floor. Mrs. Callahan, 81, had stopped using the upstairs entirely. Luis bolted a beige straight rail directly to the treads — no wall drilling, no trim damage. The seat parks at the bottom landing, out of the hallway path. Total install: three hours. Mrs.

Curved Rail at Upper Landing Turn

Marinette East, WI Installed January 2026

The Bauers' 1978 split-level in Marinette East has a 90-degree turn at the upper landing where the stairs meet the hallway. Mr. Bauer, a retired paper-mill worker, had fallen twice trying to take the turn with a cane. Luis spent an hour laser-mapping the stair geometry, then ordered a custom-bent curved rail. The brown seat parks at the top floor, clear of the chandelier.

Compact Straight Rail in City Center Cottage

City Center, WI Installed May 2026

The Nelsons own a 1910 worker cottage on a tree-lined street near Main and Ludington in City Center. The staircase runs tight against the wall — stone treads, enclosed sides, barely 30 inches wide. The brown straight rail mounts to the treads and tucks against the wall, with the seat folding up to clear 16 inches of walking space.

Outdoor Lift on Shore Drive Porch

Shore Drive, WI Installed October 2025

The Wagners' Shore Drive home sits on a rise above Green Bay with 12 stone-paved porch steps leading down to the driveway. Mrs. Wagner, 76, had stopped going out between November and March — the stone got slick with lake-effect snow and ice. Luis installed a cream-colored outdoor stairlift with IP55 weather sealing and galvanized stainless fasteners that shrug off the freeze-thaw cycles.

Carpeted Straight Rail in Marinette Southwest Ranch

Marinette Southwest, WI Installed February 2026

The Olsons' 1965 ranch in Marinette Southwest has a single straight flight of carpeted stairs running up to the bedroom level. Mr. Olson, a Navy veteran, was struggling with the climb after a hip replacement. Luis installed a brown straight rail that matches the carpet tone almost exactly. The rail bolts through the carpet to the sub-tread, no carpet damage.

Platform Lift

Indoor Platform Lift for Wheelchair Access

University Drive Area, WI Installed April 2026

The Hendersons' home near Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area on University Drive has a six-step staircase from the garage entry up to the main living level. Their son uses a manual wheelchair and had been relying on a portable ramp that was steep and exhausting for his parents to manage. Luis installed an inclined platform lift — a flat black deck with yellow safety edges and a white handrail — that rides the same stair path.

Common Questions

Everything Marinette Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Marinette?

A straight stairlift starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, custom-built for stairs that turn, start at $9,000. Outdoor units for Marinette's waterfront homes start at $4,000, and heavy-duty models that carry up to 600 lb start at $5,050. Every quote includes the site visit, measurement, installation, and a 5-year warranty. Financing runs from $79/month. Luis does free in-home assessments across Marinette — no obligation, and you'll have a firm number before you decide anything.

Are there hidden costs with stairlift installation in Marinette?

No. The price Luis quotes at the assessment is the price you pay. It covers the rail, the carriage, the seat, the battery backup, the install labor, and the cleanup. No charge for the site visit. No charge for removing old carpet or trim if needed — the installers handle it. Marinette homes sometimes have plaster walls from the early 1900s; if that comes up, Luis tells you before any work starts and the quote doesn't change.

How much is a curved stairlift for a Marinette split-level?

Curved stairlifts start at $9,000 and go up based on the number of turns and rail length. Marinette East and Marinette Southwest have a lot of split-levels from the 1960s and 70s with a half-flight turn at the landing — those usually run $9,000 to $11,000. Luis does a 1-hour laser measurement to map the exact geometry, then the rail is bent at the factory. No cutting or welding on site.

Does homeowners insurance cover stairlift costs in Wisconsin?

Standard homeowners policies in Wisconsin don't cover stairlifts — they're considered home modifications, not medical equipment. But if the stairlift is prescribed by a doctor as medically necessary following an injury or surgery, some policies may reimburse a portion. Check with your carrier. Most Marinette families use VA benefits, the Wisconsin IRIS program, or the $79/month financing to cover the cost instead.

A word from Luis

I've installed lifts in Marinette homes that date back to the 1880s along Riverside Avenue, and in mid-century ranches out by the University Drive area. The older homes are the ones where stairs become an issue first — those Victorian and Queen Anne builds have beautiful woodwork but the staircases are steep with narrow treads. A straight rail on a Riverside Avenue home usually bolts right to the oak treads in about three hours. Over in Marinette East, I see more split-levels and compact two-stories where a curved rail is the only option because of the landing turn at the top.

What people don't always realize is how much the winter weather factors in here. When the snow piles up and the roads ice over between Marinette and Green Bay, you don't want your mom trying to manage stairs on her own. The battery backup on every unit we put in runs through a full Wisconsin power outage — lake-effect storms off Green Bay can knock lines down for hours. The VA clinic over in Menominee, right across the river on 10th Avenue, processes HISA grant applications regularly for Marinette County veterans. Between that and the IRIS program through Wisconsin Medicaid, most of my Marinette customers aren't paying full price out of pocket.

— Luis Ramírez, Marinette
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Marinette sits in a unique spot — one of Wisconsin's oldest lumber-boom cities, twin to Menominee across the river, a place where the housing stock spans 140 years of building styles. That variety in architecture is exactly why one-size-fits-all stairlift advice doesn't work here. A Queen Anne on Riverside Avenue needs a different approach than a 1970s split-level in Marinette Southwest.

Whether you're on Shore Drive watching the Green Bay sunrise or in a City Center cottage a block from Main Street, the goal is the same: keep the stairs from deciding which rooms your family can use. Give Luis Ramírez a call. He'll come out, measure, and tell you what works — no fluff, no pressure, just the specifics for your house.
