Stairlift Service Across Essex County

Essex County, MA

The Diamond District's turret-topped Queen Annes — on the National Register — have original oak banisters and formal stairwells where our rail bolts into treads without touching a spindle. Central Lynn and West Lynn triple-deckers have narrow 33-inch oak stairs serving two or three families; we spec slim-profile rails that leave 21 inches of passable width. Highlands homes near High Rock Tower have the steep interior pitch that needs a powered swivel-exit seat. Pine Hill Cape Cods often have the short half-flight between living room and bedrooms that installs in under three hours. Lynn English Colonial Revivals and Foursquares have the wide formal staircases that accommodate a full-size rail without crowding the hallway.

Straight

Diamond District Victorian — straight rail on original 1895 oak hardwood treads

Diamond District, MA Installed March 2026

A 1895 Queen Anne Victorian in the Diamond District with original quarter-sawn oak treads and a formal staircase rising 14 steps from the front hall. The beige seat sits unfolded at the bottom of the dark hardwood stairs, the straight rail bolted into the oak treads on the right side — never a spindle, never the wall, never the carved newel post at the base. Mrs. Callahan is 84 and has lived here since 1967. The rail finish matches the existing oak, and the warm residential tones of the open-tread staircase made the lift nearly invisible. Her neighbor across the street didn't notice it until she was told where to look.

West Lynn triple-decker — curved rail bends 90 degrees at the upper landing

West Lynn, MA Installed February 2026

A 1918 triple-decker in West Lynn where the staircase hits a 90-degree turn at the upper landing around the half-wall balustrade. The brown-upholstered seat parks at the top floor so Mrs. Mendoza steps directly onto the hallway — not at the turn. We laser-scanned the curve, fabricated a single continuous rail that bends around the balustrade, and added a swivel-exit seat at the upper landing. The modern interior with its chandelier above and framed art along the stairwell made a clean installation essential. The entire consultation happened in Spanish. Ella subió a su cuarto esa misma noche.

Pine Hill Cape Cod — compact straight rail alongside stone-face entry wall

Pine Hill, MA Installed January 2026

A 1952 Cape Cod in Pine Hill with stone-veneer treads and a compact staircase in a traditional cottage-style interior. Mr. Kowalski had a wooden sideboard with a potted plant sitting at the base of the stairs — furniture that has been in that spot since 1969. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom next to the sideboard, and the straight rail bolts into the stone treads using masonry anchors. The cozy, compact space with its traditional feel left no room for a bulky installation — the slim-profile rail clears the cabinet by three inches with the seat folded.

The Highlands — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone porch entry steps

The Highlands, MA Installed December 2025

A 1924 Colonial in the Highlands with a raised front porch and seven exterior stone paving steps. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat rides from the rough natural stone floor at the base up to the porch landing, with natural daylight flooding the entry from above. Mrs. Santos uses a rolling walker and hadn't left the house unassisted since a fall on the icy steps. We drilled stainless-steel masonry anchors into the stone treads, sealed the motor housing to IP55 against coastal humidity and salt spray, and applied the marine-grade rail coating standard on every install east of Route 128. The lift rode through the January Nor'easter without losing a single ride.

Lynn English Colonial Revival — straight rail on carpeted stairs, post-surgery recovery

Lynn English, MA Installed November 2025

A 1938 Colonial Revival in Lynn English with wall-to-wall carpet on a 13-step straight run from the front hall to the upstairs bedrooms. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones on the staircase, parked at a landing area near the wall-mounted light switches. Mrs. Pham had a total knee replacement at Salem Hospital and her surgeon told her no unassisted stairs for six weeks. We bolted the rail through the carpet and pad directly into the plywood subfloor — the carpet lies flat around the brackets with no bunching or trip hazard. The tiled floor at the bottom landing provides a stable step-on point.

Platform Lift

Central Lynn — indoor inclined wheelchair platform with yellow safety edges

Central Lynn, MA Installed October 2025

A 1926 duplex in Central Lynn where Mr. Rivera uses a power wheelchair after a stroke. The four-step rise between the sunken front room and the kitchen was the barrier — he couldn't transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway with a flat black anti-slip deck and high-visibility yellow safety edges on all sides. The orange-tinted walls and window light in the stairwell make the yellow edges visible from across the room. Mr. Rivera rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to kitchen level. His wife said the yellow edges were the detail that made her feel safe — she can see from across the room whether the platform is level before her husband rolls on.

Common Questions

Everything Lynn Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Lynn right now?

Straight rails in standard Lynn homes — the Diamond District Victorians, the triple-deckers in Central Lynn and West Lynn, the Colonial Revivals in Lynn English — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most triple-decker mid-landings and the grander Victorians with split-staircase turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor porch lifts with marine-grade coating for the North Shore salt air run $4,200 to $7,800. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Lynn than in Boston or Salem?

Equipment prices are identical across the North Shore and Greater Boston — we don't inflate quotes for the Diamond District or discount them for Central Lynn. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: compensating rail brackets in triple-deckers where 100 years of settling have left treads uneven, marine-grade coating on outdoor installs near Nahant Bay, and the slim-profile rail that fits the 33-inch-wide triple-decker stairs common in Central Lynn and West Lynn. We tell you the line items upfront.

Do you charge extra for a Spanish-language consultation?

No. Every Lynn assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual and has walked dozens of North Shore families through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge. For Khmer, Portuguese, and other languages spoken in Lynn we bring in a phone interpreter at our cost — never yours.

Any hidden fees for a landlord-owned triple-decker unit?

If you're a tenant, Massachusetts law requires landlord permission for a fixed installation. We draft the landlord notification letter and the Fair Housing Act reasonable-accommodation request at no charge. If the landlord requires their own engineer's letter or a specific insurance certificate, we provide those too. Our quote includes all paperwork. The only scenario that can add cost (rarely) is when a triple-decker needs a dedicated electrical circuit because the building's 60-amp service can't handle a plug-in unit. We tell you before we start — not after.

A word from Luis

Most Lynn families call me after the same thing — a slip on the narrow oak stairs inside a Diamond District Victorian that was built for coal deliveries and gaslights, not for an 82-year-old with a replacement hip. Or a daughter in Saugus who found out her mother hasn't been upstairs in the West Lynn triple-decker since Labor Day.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
