Stairlift Service Across Dauphin County

Dauphin County, PA

From Colonial Park — where 1960s split-levels with mid-landing turns are the most common curved-rail install in the township — to the postwar ranches along Linglestown Road and the brick colonials in Paxtonia, our team has measured every stair geometry Lower Paxton builds. We know which Progress homes have the steep 13-tread runs that need swivel-exit seats, which Lawnton bungalows measure under 30 inches wide, and which Rutherford raised ranches require outdoor platform lifts for the front porch steps. Because Dauphin County’s senior population extends well beyond the township line, we also serve Harrisburg, Penbrook, Susquehanna Township, and Hummelstown — all within 15 minutes.

Paxtonia colonial — rail color-matched to original oak banister

Paxtonia, PA Installed March 2026

A 1968 colonial in Paxtonia with a formal oak banister the family had refinished twice. We brought finish samples on the first visit, matched the rail to the warm oak grain of the hardwood treads, and bolted the track directly into the stair treads without touching a single spindle. The beige seat sits unfolded at the bottom landing, blending with the warm tones of the open-tread stairway. Mrs. Hartman’s book club met the following week — nobody noticed the lift.

Colonial Park split-level — 90° curved rail to the upper landing

Colonial Park, PA Installed February 2026

A 1963 split-level in Colonial Park with the classic mid-staircase 90° turn. Two companies told the Kowalskis they needed two separate lifts with a transfer in the middle. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated one continuous curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the upper landing, and installed a swivel-exit seat so Mrs. Kowalski steps off directly onto the hallway floor. The brown-upholstered seat parks neatly at the top floor beside the framed art and chandelier.

Lawnton bungalow — compact rail beside the hallway sideboard

Lawnton, PA Installed January 2026

A compact 1952 bungalow in Lawnton with stone-tiled treads and a wooden sideboard at the bottom of the stairs that had been there since the family moved in. The stairwell measured just 28 inches wide — tight even by postwar standards. We fitted the narrow-profile straight rail with a folding armrest, leaving the seat tucked beside the cabinet and potted plant at the base. The cottage feel of the home stayed intact, and Mr. Schaffer passes on foot when he chooses.

Rutherford raised ranch — weather-sealed porch lift for a veteran

Rutherford, PA Installed December 2025

Mr. Hollenbeck is a Vietnam-era veteran in Rutherford with a raised front porch and rough natural stone paving at the entry. The eight concrete steps had become the real barrier to leaving the house. We installed a cream-colored weather-sealed seat on the outdoor rail, with galvanized hardware and an IP55-rated motor housing rated for Dauphin County’s freeze-thaw cycles. The seat parks at the covered porch entry, and Mr. Hollenbeck’s HISA grant through Lebanon VA covered most of the cost.

Progress carpeted stairs — swivel-exit seat for safer top-landing step-off

Progress, PA Installed November 2025

A two-story home in Progress with 13 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the lower landing. Mrs. Zimmerman’s main concern was stepping off at the top, where her husband had slipped twice. We installed the straight rail on the carpet-covered treads with a swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing. The brown upholstery blends with the carpet tones, and the folding footrest keeps the full stair width clear for grandchildren.

Platform Lift

Linglestown ranch — indoor wheelchair platform for a non-transferable resident

Linglestown, PA Installed October 2025

Mr. Brennan’s mother uses a power wheelchair and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. Their 1975 ranch in Linglestown has an open stairway to the finished basement — the only route to the family room and workshop. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip surface, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and white handrails along the indoor stairway. The terracotta-toned walls and natural window light keep the space warm despite the industrial-grade equipment. She rolls on, rides down, and rolls off without leaving her chair.

Common Questions

Everything Lower Paxton Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lower Paxton Township right now?

Straight rails in standard Lower Paxton homes — the Colonial Park split-levels, the Linglestown ranches, the Paxtonia colonials — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which most Colonial Park split-levels require because of the mid-landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 since the rail is fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and basement walk-outs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher because I'm close to Harrisburg?

No. Equipment prices are the same across the Harrisburg metro — we don’t charge a surcharge for Dauphin County addresses. What can vary slightly is labor for unusual conditions: preserving a period banister in an older Paxtonia colonial, or adding a dedicated circuit in a 1950s ranch that still runs a 60-amp panel. We list every line item in your quote upfront. No mystery charges after we start.

Is a refurbished stairlift worth considering for a Lower Paxton home?

For straight staircases — the majority in Linglestown and Rutherford — a certified factory-reconditioned unit can save 30–40% with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never viable because the rail is custom-built for a specific staircase. Ask us about refurbished inventory during the assessment. We’ll give you an honest comparison rather than pushing you toward whichever has the higher margin.

Are there hidden fees for older homes in the township?

Our quote covers the rail, seat, installation labor, battery backup, and first service visit. The only occasional add-on in older Lower Paxton neighborhoods is a dedicated electrical circuit when the outlet near the stair base can’t handle the load — common in pre-1960 homes. If that’s the case, we identify it during the assessment, not mid-installation. A new circuit adds $200–$400 and our licensed electrician handles it.

A word from Luis

Most calls I get from Lower Paxton come after a near-miss on the stairs — a parent who grabbed the banister just in time, a spouse recovering from hip surgery in a Colonial Park split-level who hasn’t slept upstairs in weeks, a daughter in Harrisburg calling about her father in a Linglestown ranch he’s owned for 35 years.

My job is direct: drive to your door within 24 hours, measure the staircase once with a laser, and hand you a written quote good for 30 days. No pressure, no upsell, no mystery fees.
