Stairlift Service Across Santa Barbara County

Santa Barbara County, CA

Old Town Lompoc — the streets around South H Street and the Carnegie Library — holds 1890s Victorians and Craftsman bungalows with original hardwood staircases narrower than modern code. Vandenberg Village, built as 1960s base housing, has ranch-style homes with mostly straight stairs and wider treads. Five miles north, Mission Hills mixes 1950s ranches with newer builds; the older homes have tighter stairwells and lower headroom. Mesa Oaks, within Mission Hills near the golf course, has slab-on-grade homes where outdoor stoop stairs see salt air from the coast 8 miles west. North Vandenberg Village features 1970s–80s two-story homes with carpeted staircases. Providence Landing, the newest planned community, has wider stairwells built to current code.

Original Oak Treads in an Old Town Victorian

Old Town Lompoc, CA Installed February 2026

The Kellers' 1893 Victorian on South H Street has original oak treads — narrow at 32 inches, worn smooth by 130 years of use. A straight rail in a warm beige matched the wood tone almost exactly. The rail bolted directly into the oak treads with five steel bolts per bracket; the banister and wall were untouched. Mrs. Keller, 81, had been sleeping in the downstairs parlor for six months before the install.

90° Curve at the Upper Landing in Mission Hills

Mission Hills, CA Installed March 2026

The Dawsons' 1958 two-story in Mission Hills has a staircase that meets a half-wall, makes a single 90-degree turn, and continues to the upper hallway. A curved rail was laser-measured on site, then factory-bent to match the exact radius. The brown upholstered seat parks at the top landing, out of the walkway.

Stone-Tread Stairs in a Compact Vandenberg Village Ranch

Vandenberg Village, CA Installed January 2026

The Ortegas' 1964 ranch in Vandenberg Village has stone-tile treads — durable, but slick when wearing socks. A straight rail with a brown upholstered seat was installed in just under 3 hours. The rail brackets compressed slightly into the tile, but the mounting system uses rubber gaskets that grip without cracking the stone. The seat parks at the bottom near a wooden sideboard. Mr.

IP55-Rated Outdoor Lift on a Mesa Oaks Stoop

Mesa Oaks, CA Installed October 2025

The Ferraras' Mesa Oaks home has a rough stone stoop — four steps up from the driveway. Salt air from the coast 8 miles west had pitted the stone over the years. An IP55-rated outdoor stairlift with marine-grade fasteners was bolted into the stone with epoxy-set anchors. The cream-colored seat is UV-resistant and has a waterproof cover.

Carpeted Stairs in a North Vandenberg Village Two-Story

North Vandenberg Village, CA Installed April 2026

The Chens' 1982 two-story in North Vandenberg Village has beige carpeted stairs — 14 treads, straight shot from the living room to the upstairs hallway. The brown upholstered seat blended into the neutral palette. The rail brackets compressed the carpet pile underneath without tearing or cutting it. Power runs along the rail to a standard wall outlet at the top. Mrs.

Wheelchair Platform Lift in a Providence Landing Home

Providence Landing, CA Installed December 2025

The Reyes' daughter uses a manual wheelchair and couldn't access the upstairs bedrooms in their Providence Landing home. An inclined wheelchair platform lift was installed along the straight stairway — flat black deck with yellow safety edges and a white handrail. The platform carries up to 600 lb: the chair, the user, and a caregiver if needed. When not in use, the platform folds vertically against the wall, leaving the stairs fully walkable.

Common Questions

Everything Lompoc Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lompoc?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800, curved at $9,000, outdoor at $4,000, and heavy-duty at $5,050. These are installed prices — the quote Luis gives at the free assessment is the final number. No surprise charges for Lompoc homes.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more in Lompoc?

Curved rails are custom-bent to your exact staircase after a 1-hour laser measurement. Old Town Victorians on South H Street often have turns, landings, and half-walls — every rail is one-off. The fabrication happens at the factory, not on site, which drives the cost difference.

Is there a cheaper alternative to a custom curved rail?

In some Lompoc homes, yes. If your staircase has a straight run with a single 90° landing, we can sometimes use two straight rails with a transfer point at the landing. That can bring the cost closer to $5,500–6,500. But for a true curved staircase — like the ones in older Mission Hills two-story homes — the custom rail is the safer, quieter option.

Are there any hidden fees for Lompoc installations?

No. The price includes the lift, rail, installation, and a demo of how to use it. We don't charge extra for coming out to Lompoc — we're based in the region. The only add-on might be an outdoor weather cover ($300) if you're installing on a Mesa Oaks stoop.

A word from Luis

I've been installing stairlifts in the Lompoc Valley for over 15 years, and I can tell you exactly how your specific home is going to go. Old Town Victorians on South H Street? The staircase is narrow — 32 to 34 inches — and the treads are original hardwood. We use a compact rail that mounts to the treads, not the wall. Vandenberg Village ranches are the opposite: wide stairs, straight shot, done in under two hours usually.

Mission Hills homes from the 1950s can be trickier — some have low headroom at the landing, and we have to custom-bend the rail to clear it. But I've never seen a staircase in Lompoc we couldn't fit. If you're in Mesa Oaks and worried about salt air on an outdoor unit, the IP55-rated models we install have held up for years out here. Call me — I'll come measure your stairs, no charge, and tell you exactly what it'll cost.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Lompoc's housing stock runs the full range — 130-year-old Victorians on South H Street, 1960s Vandenberg Village ranches, Mission Hills split-levels, and brand-new Providence Landing builds. A stairlift fits every one of them. Luis has been installing across the Lompoc Valley for over 15 years and has probably worked on a staircase just like yours.

If you're figuring out how to pay for it, the HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for veterans. Medi-Cal's HCBA waiver through CalAIM handles the rest for qualifying residents. And financing starts at $79/month. Call Luis for a free assessment — he'll measure your stairs, give you a fixed quote, and help with the paperwork. No pressure, no surprise charges.
