Stairlift Service Across Niagara County

Niagara County, NY

We install stairlifts across every corner of the Town of Lewiston. In the Village Center along Center Street, homes from the 1820s–1840s have steep, narrow staircases — Greek Revivals and Italianates with treads as shallow as 8 inches. Lewiston Heights, set atop the Niagara Escarpment, holds larger split-levels and custom homes with switchback stairs that overlook the river gorge. Colonial Village off Colonial Drive is mid-century through and through — ranches and split-levels from the 1950s–60s where two short flights replace one long staircase. The rural hamlets of Dickersonville and Pekin have older farmhouses with outdoor porch entries and narrow interior stairs. Sanborn mixes 19th-century village homes with capes and ranches on larger lots.

Straight

Straight Rail on Oak Treads, 1838 Village Home

Village Center, NY Installed March 2026

The Hendersons' Center Street Greek Revival was built in 1838 and still has the original oak treads — narrow at barely 8½ inches deep, steep at a 42-degree pitch. Luis mounted a 14-foot straight rail directly to the oak treads with through-bolts, reinforced at every mounting point because the 180-year-old wood had softened slightly. The cream seat parks at the bottom near the front door.

Curved Rail with 90° Turn at Upper Landing, Lewiston Heights

Lewiston Heights, NY Installed January 2026

The Rossis' Lewiston Heights home sits on the Escarpment with a switchback staircase — a 90-degree turn at a mid-level landing, then a second shorter flight to the upper hallway under a chandelier. Luis laser-measured the geometry — the upper landing wasn't a true 90 but 87 degrees — and the factory bent the rail to match. The brown seat parks at the top landing. Install took five hours.

Straight

Straight Rail on Stone Treads, Colonial Village Split-Level

Colonial Village, NY Installed April 2026

The Kowalskis' 1968 split-level in Colonial Village has two short flights of stone-faced treads — the main flight up to the bedrooms, a half-flight down to the den. Luis installed a 12-foot straight rail on the main flight only, bolting through the stone treads with masonry anchors. The brown seat parks at the bottom near a wooden sideboard. The compact install fit the narrower split-level staircase without crowding the hallway.

Outdoor

Weather-Sealed Outdoor Rail on Stone Porch, Dickersonville

Dickersonville, NY Installed December 2025

The Jensens' Dickersonville farmhouse has a stone-paved outdoor entry — three steps from the gravel drive to the porch, then a flight of six to the kitchen door. Luis set the outdoor rail on concrete footings dug 18 inches below the frost line. The cream seat sits at the bottom, with an IP55-rated motor housing and a powder-coated aluminum rail. It stayed solid through the January thaws and refreezes.

Straight

Straight Rail on Carpeted Stairs, Sanborn Cape

Sanborn, NY Installed February 2026

The Mitchells' Sanborn cape has a single straight staircase with thick beige carpet that matches the brown seat upholstery almost exactly. Luis mounted a 13-foot rail directly through the carpet into the plywood treads beneath — the carpet actually helps dampen vibration during operation. The seat parks at the bottom near a tiled entryway floor. The color match was so close Frank's father joked the house came with it.

Platform Lift

Indoor Inclined Platform Lift, Pekin Wheelchair Access

Pekin, NY Installed March 2026

Robert's brother has used a wheelchair since a spinal injury and hadn't been upstairs in their Pekin home for four years. Luis installed an inclined platform lift on the 15-foot straight run — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail. The platform folds against the wall when not in use, leaving the stairs passable. The brother wheels on, locks the chair, rides up. Battery backup runs through outages.

Common Questions

Everything Lewiston Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lewiston, NY?

A straight stairlift in Lewiston runs from $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 — the price depends on how many turns your staircase has and how tight the landings are, which matters a lot in the 1820s-era homes on Center Street where treads can be under 9 inches deep. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000, and heavy-duty units at $5,050. Every quote includes the rail, seat, installation, and a walkthrough with Luis so you know exactly how to use it before we leave.

Are there hidden fees with stairlift installation in Lewiston?

No. The quote you get covers the full install — the rail, the carriage, the seat, all mounting hardware, the electrical connection to a nearby outlet, and the final test run. If your Lewiston home needs a longer rail than our standard straight kit (more than 16 feet), that's included in the quote upfront — we don't show up and tack on extra footage charges. Same for any tread reinforcement on older stairs, which we sometimes encounter in Center Street homes where the original pine treads have softened.

Do curved stairlifts cost more in older Lewiston homes?

Curved stairlifts are always custom, so the price reflects the number of turns, the angle of each landing, and the total rail length. In older Lewiston homes — particularly the Greek Revivals and Italianates along Center Street built between 1820 and 1850 — staircases can be tighter and steeper than modern code allows, which means more rail bends. A standard two-turn curved rail in a newer Lewiston Heights home might run $9,000–10,000. The same layout in an 1838 Center Street house with an intermediate landing at an odd angle could push toward $11,000.

How much is a heavy-duty stairlift in Lewiston?

A heavy-duty stairlift starts at $5,050 installed in Lewiston. It carries up to 600 pounds — more than double the standard 300-pound capacity. The seat is wider, the rail track is reinforced, and the carriage uses a higher-torque motor. We've installed these in Lewiston homes where the user is over 350 pounds or where two people sometimes ride together, though we don't recommend that. The battery backup and soft-start/stop are identical to our standard units.

A word from Luis

"The staircases I see most in Lewiston are the ones on Center Street — homes built in the 1820s and 1830s where the stairs weren't made for a 74-year-old with a replaced hip. I've measured treads in those Greek Revivals that are barely 8 inches deep, with the railing on the wrong side. A straight rail bolted to the treads works in about two-thirds of them. The rest need a custom curve."

"Out in Colonial Village and the newer subdivisions off Ridge Road, it's a different story. Split-levels from the '60s and '70s — two short flights instead of one long one. We put a straight lift on the main flight and the homeowner keeps the lower half-flight for storage access. In Lewiston Heights, half the homes have that view of the Niagara gorge but the stairs are switchbacks — those get curved rails every time. And the freeze-thaw on outdoor installs near the Escarpment means the rail footings go deeper than code. I've been doing this here since 2010. I know which houses need what before I walk through the door."

— Luis Ramírez, Lewiston
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Lewiston sits at a unique spot — halfway between Niagara Falls and Fort Niagara, with the Escarpment rising behind it and the river in front. Homes here span two centuries of construction, and the stairs reflect that range: everything from 1820s treads under 9 inches deep to 1970s split-level flights that dead-end into a closet wall. A stairlift that works in a Center Street Greek Revival won't necessarily fit a Colonial Village ranch without adjustments.

If you're looking at a stairlift for your home in Lewiston — or for your mom's place off Ridge Road — we'll come out, measure, and give you a real number. No pressure. Call or fill out the form above, and Luis will walk the stairs with you and tell you what would actually work. Same-day quotes, install usually within the week.
