Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Sarasota County

Sarasota County, FL

We install stairlifts all through the Laurel-Nokomis area, from Sorrento Woods — where 1980s ranch homes often have a full flight of tile stairs leading up from the garage — to Mission Valley Estates, with its larger equestrian-country homes and wider oak staircases. Along the water, Laurel Landings Estates and Shakett Creek Pointe have elevated homes where the living floor starts a story up; outdoor lifts here need marine-grade seals against the Gulf humidity. Calusa Lakes brings us into golf-course homes with curved half-turn staircases, and over in Bellacina by Casey Key, the active-adult community sees a lot of straight-rail installs in single-story-plus-loft layouts. On Casey Key itself, the bridge-access homes off Blackburn Point Road often have sweeping curved stairs at the entry.

Straight

Straight Rail on Dark Hardwood — Sorrento Woods Ranch

Sorrento Woods, FL Installed March 2026

The Millers' 1985 ranch in Sorrento Woods has a straight flight of dark oak stairs from the living room up to three bedrooms. Mrs. Miller had been avoiding the upstairs entirely after a fall. Luis mounted the beige-seat straight rail directly to the oak treads with five bracket points, no wall drilling. The chair parks at the bottom landing and folds to 12 inches wide — her husband still uses the stairs normally.

Curved Rail at Upper Landing — Casey Key Waterfront

Casey Key, FL Installed January 2026

The Harringtons' Casey Key home has a dramatic curved staircase from the ground-level entry to the main living floor, with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing under a chandelier. Luis laser-measured the full curve during the assessment — the custom-bent rail arrived four weeks later and mounted to the treads at eight bracket points.

Compact Straight Install — Shakett Creek Cottage

Shakett Creek Pointe, FL Installed April 2026

The Donovans' cottage-style home near Shakett Creek had a narrow staircase with stone tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base — tight quarters. The stair width measured just 33 inches, but the brown-seat carriage cleared it with room to spare when folded. Luis used masonry bits and sealed anchors for the stone treads; no damage to the tile. The sideboard stays where it is. Mrs.

Outdoor

Outdoor Porch Lift — Bay Point Canal-Front Home

Bay Point, FL Installed February 2026

The Kowalskis' Bay Point home sits on a canal off Roberts Bay, with the main living floor a full story up — accessed by an exterior stone-paved staircase open to the Gulf Coast weather. The cream-seat outdoor lift is IP55-rated with marine-grade seals on every electrical connection, stainless hardware, and a UV-stabilized rail cover. Luis mounted the rail to the stone treads with weatherproof anchors and sealed each bracket point.

Carpeted Stair Install — Calusa Lakes Golf Community

Calusa Lakes, FL Installed May 2026

The Bennetts' Calusa Lakes home had carpeted stairs leading to the second-floor bedrooms — beige carpet that matched the brown-seat carriage almost exactly. The mounting brackets bolt through the carpet into the wood sub-tread beneath; carpet fibers close back around the bolt heads so the mounting points are barely visible. Mr.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform — Mission Valley Estates

Mission Valley Estates, FL Installed October 2025

Mr. Crawford uses a wheelchair full-time and the family's Mission Valley Estates home has a straight indoor staircase that was cutting off the entire second floor. Luis installed an inclined platform lift — a flat black deck with yellow safety edges and a white handrail — that carries the wheelchair directly up the stairs. The platform folds against the wall when not in use, leaving the staircase clear.

Common Questions

Everything Laurel Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Laurel, Florida?

A straight stairlift in Laurel starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts run from $9,000 and up, depending on the number of turns and rail length. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000 with marine-grade weather sealing — worth it for canal-front homes exposed to salt air. Heavy-duty units that carry up to 600 lb start at $5,050. Every quote includes the assessment, the rail, the carriage, installation, and a walk-through demo so you know how to use it before we leave.

Why is a curved stairlift more expensive than a straight one in Laurel homes?

Curved rails are custom-fabricated for your exact staircase. We come out with a laser measurement system, map every turn and landing, and the rail is bent at the factory to match — no two curved rails are the same. In Laurel, we see a lot of curved installs on Casey Key and along the bays where elevated homes have stairs that turn 90 degrees at a mid-flight landing. The custom fabrication adds about four weeks to the timeline and accounts for the price difference versus a straight rail.

Are there any hidden costs with stairlift installation in Sarasota County?

No. The quote covers everything: the site assessment, the rail, the carriage, all mounting hardware, installation labor, the demo, and cleanup. Sarasota County does not require a separate building permit for a stairlift in a private single-family home. If your staircase has an unusual configuration — like the narrow 32-inch stairs we sometimes see in older Laurel ranches off Roberts Road — we'll tell you during the free assessment before you commit to anything.

Do you offer financing for stairlifts in the Laurel area?

Yes — financing starts at $79 a month. We work with a third-party lender that offers terms from 12 to 60 months, and we can run a soft credit check during the assessment so you know what you qualify for without any impact on your credit score. About half of our Laurel customers use some form of financing, and it often pairs with VA grant funds or Medicaid coverage to bring the out-of-pocket cost way down.

A word from Luis

I've put stairlifts into just about every kind of home you find in the Laurel-Nokomis stretch — 1980s canal-front ranches along Lyons Bay, newer builds in Sorrento Woods, even the elevated homes on Casey Key where the main living floor starts a full flight up from the garage. What I tell every family here is the same: the salt air matters. You want a lift with marine-grade components and a sealed rail, not something built for a dry inland climate. The hardware lasts longer and you're not dealing with corrosion in year three.

One thing that catches people off guard around here is the stair width in older homes. A lot of the original ranches off Albee Farm Road and Roberts Road were built with 32- to 34-inch staircases — just barely wide enough for a standard stairlift. We measure twice before we quote, and we've never had to turn a Laurel home down because of a tight fit. The rail bolts right to the treads, not the wall, so your drywall stays intact whether you're on the water or inland.

— Luis Ramírez, Laurel
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Laurel is the kind of place people stay. The 1980s ranch on the canal that someone bought thirty years ago becomes the house where the grandkids visit, and then suddenly the stairs to the master bedroom are a problem. A stairlift solves that without a remodel. We handle the whole process — assessment, permit, install — and most Laurel jobs are done in a single morning.

Between the HISA grant through the Sarasota VA Clinic on Bee Ridge Road, Florida's SMMC-LTC program for Medicaid recipients, and financing starting at $79 a month, cost doesn't have to be the reason you put this off. Call Luis at the number above or fill out the form — he'll come out to your place in Laurel, measure your stairs, and give you a real number on the spot.
