Stairlift Service Across Kerr County

Kerr County, TX

From the hilltop custom homes in The Summit — where a three-story layout is common to capture ridge-line views — to the 1970s-era two-story homes in Riverhill with original oak staircases, Kerrville homes vary widely. Comanche Trace, the 1,300-acre golf community, has multi-level estate homes where the master suite is often upstairs. The gated The Meridian 55+ community sees residents planning ahead for single-level living, but many still need a lift for the front-entry stairs. In Saddlewood Estates, homes along the Guadalupe often have outdoor staircases from the porch down to the yard. Historic limestone homes in the downtown district — some dating to the 1880s — have narrow interior staircases where a slim-rail straight lift makes the difference between staying or selling.

Straight

Straight Rail on Dark Hardwood — Comanche Trace Estate

Comanche Trace, TX Installed March 2026

This Comanche Trace estate home has a grand two-story foyer with dark oak hardwood stairs — 14 steps to the upper hallway. After a hip surgery made the stairs difficult, the homeowners needed the upstairs master suite accessible. Luis mounted a beige straight-lift rail to the oak treads with lag bolts — no wall anchoring needed. The chair parks at the bottom landing and tucks against the rail when not in use.

Curved Rail at Upper Landing — The Summit Hilltop Home

The Summit, TX Installed February 2026

Perched on one of the highest hills in Kerrville, this Summit home has a staircase that sweeps up to a 90-degree turn at the upper landing beneath a chandelier. The curved rail was laser-measured on site — one hour with our measurement rig — and fabricated to match the turn exactly. The brown upholstered chair parks at the top floor.

Straight

Straight Lift on Stone Treads — Riverhill Compact Home

Riverhill, TX Installed April 2026

This Riverhill home — a compact 1970s two-story with stone tile treads and a wooden sideboard near the staircase — needed a straight lift that would not overwhelm the space. The brown chair sits at the bottom beside the sideboard, rail running up the left side of the stairs. Stone treads required a masonry bit, but the bolt-through mounting was standard. The cottage-like feel is preserved — the chair folds up when not in use.

Outdoor Porch Lift — Saddlewood Estates Riverfront

Saddlewood Estates, TX Installed May 2026

This Saddlewood Estates home sits along the Guadalupe River with a stone-paved outdoor entry porch and a flight of exterior stairs to the driveway. The cream-colored outdoor unit is IP55-rated with sealed motor housing and a corrosion-resistant rail coating. Mounted to the stone treads with stainless hardware, the lift parks at the porch level under a waterproof seat cover.

Straight Lift on Carpeted Stairs — Keystone Family Home

Keystone, TX Installed January 2026

This Keystone subdivision home has carpeted stairs leading from a tiled ground-floor entry to the second floor — the brown upholstered chair matches the warm carpet tones. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wood treads beneath; carpet fibers close back around the bolt points so the mounting is barely visible. A second remote at the top lets the homeowner call the lift up or send it down.

Indoor Wheelchair Platform — The Meridian 55+ Community

The Meridian, TX Installed March 2026

In The Meridian, Kerrville's gated 55+ community, this homeowner uses a wheelchair and needed a platform lift for the indoor staircase. The inclined platform has a flat black deck with yellow safety edges that fold up when in motion, plus a white handrail along the wall side. It carries the wheelchair and occupant — up to 600 lb — at a steady, controlled speed.

Common Questions

Everything Kerrville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Kerrville?

A straight stairlift in Kerrville starts at $2,800 installed. That includes the rail, the chair, mounting to the stair treads (not the wall), and about 3 to 4 hours of install time. Most straight installations in Kerrville — whether a 1970s Riverhill two-story or a Keystone split-level — come in between $2,800 and $4,200 depending on rail length. We give you a firm price at the free assessment, not an estimate.

How much is a curved stairlift for a Kerrville home?

Curved stairlifts in Kerrville start at $9,000. The rail is custom-bent to match your staircase exactly — every turn, every landing. We spend about an hour on site with a laser measurement rig, then the rail is fabricated to spec. Homes in The Summit and Comanche Trace with multi-level layouts and 90-degree landings are the most common curved installations we do. Lead time from measurement to install is about 3 weeks.

Can I finance a stairlift in Kerrville?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month. We work with third-party lenders who offer 12-month same-as-cash options and longer-term plans. The application takes about 10 minutes, you get an answer same-day, and there is no prepayment penalty. Most Kerrville customers who finance choose the 24- or 36-month plan.

Does Medicare cover a stairlift in Kerr County?

Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover stairlifts. Medicare classifies stairlifts as durable medical equipment for the home, and they only cover DME that is primarily medical in nature — hospital beds, oxygen equipment, and the like. However, Texas STAR+PLUS Medicaid, the HISA grant through the Kerrville VA Medical Center, and the Amy Young Barrier Removal Program are all options that can cover part or all of the cost.

A word from Luis

I've installed stairlifts in Kerrville for over 15 years, and what I see across town is the same pattern: Hill Country views come at a price — and that price is stairs. In The Summit, homes sit up on the ridge with three levels to catch every angle of the sunset. In Riverhill, I see a lot of original 1970s two-story homes where the homeowners bought 30 years ago and are not leaving. The stairs just got to be too much.

What works here is different from what works down in San Antonio. Our limestone homes downtown have tight interior staircases — 32 inches in some of the older ones on Water Street. A slim-rail straight lift slides right in. Out in Comanche Trace, those big estate homes with curved staircases need a full custom measurement — about an hour with our laser rig, and we order the rail to match the turn exactly.

The Kerrville VA Medical Center right here on Memorial Boulevard is a big help for veterans. Their prosthetics department handles the HISA paperwork. I tell every veteran who calls: come to the assessment, we'll give you the quote, you take it to the VA, and they process the $6,800 grant. Done it dozens of times for Kerr County veterans.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Kerrville stairs come in every configuration the Hill Country can throw at them — tight limestone staircases from the 1880s, carpeted split-levels from the 1980s, grand curved entries in Comanche Trace, outdoor porch stairs down to the Guadalupe. We have installed on all of them.

Call Luis for a free assessment. He will measure your stairs, talk through straight vs. curved, check what the Kerrville VA or STAR+PLUS might cover, and give you a firm quote before you decide anything. Same-day or next-day assessment available — reach out through the form on this page.
