Stairlift Service Across Duval County

Duval County, FL

From 1900s Craftsman and Prairie School homes in Riverside and Avondale — where original quarter-sawn oak banisters sit inside the Riverside Avondale Historic District — to 1910s mansions along the Ortega River, we know Jacksonville housing stock decade by decade. Riverside and Avondale are curved-rail territory: narrow stair runs, untouchable banisters, and we bring wood stain samples and a laser scanner on visit one. Springfield’s 1880s Queen Anne homes north of downtown are the oldest intact neighborhood in the city. San Marco splits between 1920s Mediterranean Revival and 1950s mid-century modern. Outside the pre-war core, Mandarin runs 1960s concrete-block ranches along the St. Johns — outdoor weather-sealed installs with marine-grade stainless hardware are common within a mile of the tidal salt estuary. Arlington is post-war tract stock, mostly single-story CMU. Southside, Baymeadows, and Deerwood are 1980s–2000s two-story stucco-over-block HOA communities where we pre-fill the Fair Housing Act accommodation packet at no charge.

Avondale bungalow — straight rail on original heart-pine treads

Avondale, FL Installed March 2026

A 1922 Craftsman bungalow on Talbot Avenue in Avondale with original dark-stained heart-pine treads and a mahogany banister the family refused to touch. We anchored a slim-profile straight rail directly into the existing hardwood treads without contacting the sidewall or banister, finished in matte walnut to blend with the warm wood tones. Mrs. Kinnaird had stopped going upstairs after a hip replacement last fall. She rode the lift the afternoon we finished and said the house felt like hers again.

1914 Riverside Prairie School — curved rail past an original oak banister

Riverside, FL Installed February 2026

A 1914 Prairie School home on Post Street inside the Riverside Avondale Historic District with a 90° mid-landing turn. The Holcombes were clear nobody would touch the original quarter-sawn oak banister. We laser-scanned the staircase, custom-fabricated a curved rail that threads past the original newel with two inches of clearance, and parked the seat at the upper landing hallway. Rail finish color-matched to the original stain. Mrs. Holcombe rides from the entry hall up to the second-floor bedroom her grandmother used when the house was built.

1926 Ortega cottage — compact straight rail beside antique sideboard

Ortega, FL Installed January 2026

A compact 1926 cottage on the Ortega River peninsula with stone-tile treads and a narrow stair run beside an antique wooden sideboard the Lichtenbergs have owned since the 1970s. Space was tight — the rail had to clear the furniture and the potted plants at the base of the stairs. We installed a slim-profile straight rail anchored into the stone treads, seat folding flush against the wall when not in use. Dr. Lichtenberg, 80, rides it daily from the entry to the main living floor.

Mandarin riverside ranch — outdoor porch rail with marine-grade hardware

Mandarin, FL Installed December 2025

A 1971 concrete-block ranch on the St. Johns River in Mandarin with a raised porch entry over natural stone paving and six concrete risers up from the driveway. Salt-influenced tidal water sits half a mile off the seawall. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail anchored into the poured concrete stringer with 316 stainless wedge anchors, marine-grade powder coat, and a cream-colored UV-stabilized seat. Hurricane tie-down straps with quick-release bracket included for named-storm storage. Funded through SMMC-LTC via Sunshine Health — zero out-of-pocket.

2003 Baymeadows colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Baymeadows, FL Installed November 2025

A 2003 two-story stucco-over-block colonial on Old Baymeadows Road with a standard 15-tread carpeted interior stair, single straight run from the tiled entry landing to the upper floor. The brown upholstery blends with the carpet tones on the treads. The Okafors’ father came down from Houston after a stroke and needed the upstairs bedroom by the weekend. We filed the HOA architectural packet through the community manager and had approval within a week under Fair Housing Act accommodation grounds. Four hours from walk-in to first ride.

Platform Lift

Arlington split-level — indoor wheelchair platform for a Navy veteran

Arlington, FL Installed October 2025

A 1968 concrete-block split-level on Fort Caroline Road in Arlington with an eight-step rise between the lower entry and the main living floor. Mr. Bautista — 76, retired Navy E-7, 24 years at NAS Jacksonville — uses a wheelchair after spinal surgery and cannot transfer to a seated lift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform with a flat anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and white handrails inside the terra-cotta-painted stairwell. Filed VA Form 10-0103 for the HISA grant through the Jacksonville Outpatient Clinic; the Malcom Randall VAMC in Gainesville approved in about five weeks. Common Questions

Everything Jacksonville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Jacksonville right now?

Straight rails in a standard two-story Jacksonville home — Baymeadows tract colonial, Southside stucco-over-block, Deerwood two-story, Arlington split-level — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Riverside and Avondale Craftsman and Prairie School homes with landing turns, Ortega mansions, Springfield Victorians, and San Marco Mediterranean Revivals run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact stair geometry off a laser scan. Outdoor weather-sealed rails for Mandarin riverside ranches, Beaches homes, and raised front stoops in Arlington and the Northside run $4,000 to $7,500 with hurricane tie-downs and marine-grade hardware included. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, extended-discharge battery, install labor, and the first service visit. No historic-district premium.

My 1914 Riverside Prairie School home has the original quarter-sawn oak banister — will you have to touch it?

No. Modern stairlifts bolt into the stair treads themselves, not the wall and not the banister. The rail is self-supporting. In Riverside, Avondale, Ortega, Springfield, and San Marco we’ve installed dozens of lifts in pre-war Jacksonville homes without touching a single original spindle, newel post, or piece of heart-pine or quarter-sawn oak millwork. We bring wood stain samples on the first visit and match the rail finish to your existing banister. When the lift eventually comes out, you’re left with a handful of small anchor holes in the tread wood — nothing else. The original millwork stays exactly as it is. For any exterior rail in Jacksonville’s historic districts, we pre-fill the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission submission at no charge.

Is there a real price difference between installing in Riverside versus Baymeadows in Jacksonville?

The equipment price is the same — location doesn’t inflate the quote. The difference is labor time and rail type. A Baymeadows or Deerwood straight-rail install on a wood-frame interior stair runs 3 to 4 hours. A Riverside or Avondale curved-rail install in a 1910s home with a 90-degree landing turn requires a first-visit laser scan, 7 to 14 days of custom rail fabrication off-site, and a full-day install — and that fabrication cost is why curved rails in Jacksonville run $9,000 to $15,000 versus $2,800 to $5,500 for straight. Both get written quotes honored for 30 days with no hidden fees, no historic-district surcharge, and no travel fee from Riverside to the Beaches.

Are there lower-cost options for Jacksonville homeowners who can’t afford a new stairlift outright?

Yes. Jacksonville homeowners who don’t qualify for SMMC-LTC or VA HISA funding have three practical paths. First, certified pre-owned straight-rail units from our own refurbished fleet carry a 2-year warranty and typically run $500 to $1,500 below new pricing — same safety spec, same install, different price point. Second, HSA and FSA accounts cover stairlifts as IRS-eligible medical expenses, so if you have either, those funds apply. Third, we offer 12-month same-as-cash financing through approved credit for Jacksonville-area homeowners. For seniors 60+ who earn too much for Medicaid, ElderSource (the Jacksonville-area Area Agency on Aging at 904-391-6600) can connect you to state home-modification programs on a sliding-scale income basis.

A word from Luis

Jacksonville is the largest city by area in the lower 48 and the housing stock reflects it. One call is a 1912 Prairie School in Riverside with an original quarter-sawn oak banister nobody in the family will let me touch. The next is a 1968 concrete-block ranch in Mandarin with a raised river-facing stoop, saltwater less than a mile away, and a homeowner who wants marine-grade hardware before I even open my notebook. Third call is a 2003 two-story tract colonial out in Baymeadows where the whole conversation is the HOA architectural packet and the masonry anchors for the garage-to-entry rise.

My promise: on-site within 24 hours anywhere inside the Duval County consolidated city limit, a written quote honored for 30 days, extended-discharge battery backup standard on every install, and marine-grade stainless fasteners on every home within a mile of the St. Johns River or the Atlantic. Atendemos en español — la comunidad puertorriqueña y mexicana crece cada año en el Southside y en Arlington, y trabajo muchas llamadas militares retiradas alrededor de Mayport y NAS JAX.
