Stairlift Service Across York County

York County, PA

Hanover Borough is anchored by Center Square where Broadway, Frederick, Carlisle, and Baltimore Streets meet — the heart of the Hanover Historic District with 2,632 contributing buildings listed on the National Register since 1997. East and southeast of Center Square the residential streets — Pleasant, Middle, Locust, McAllister, and Walnut — hold Victorian and twentieth-century row houses with narrow stair widths (28–32 inches) and steep tread rises. Broadway further from town turns residential with larger lots. The Pleasant Hill area near the old hospital site holds 1950s ranches and split-levels. Most installs we do in pre-1900 row houses are folding-seat straight rails with reinforced tread bolts. Also serving Spring Grove, McSherrystown, Littlestown, New Oxford, and across the line into Westminster MD.

Common Questions

Everything Hanover Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost installed in Hanover Borough?

Straight rails in Hanover Borough start at $2,800 installed for a single flight. Pleasant Hill ranches with 13–14 ft runs typically come in $3,200–$3,800 with battery backup, 5-year warranty, and same-week install. No travel fee within York County.

How much for a curved stairlift in a Hanover Historic District home?

Curved rails start at $9,000 in Hanover and run $11,000–$14,500 for a typical Historic District row house with a steep 90° landing turn. The rail is custom-bent in aluminum, 4–6 week build, then a one-day install.

Are there extra costs for narrow row-house stairs in the Historic District?

Stair widths in pre-1900 Hanover row houses on Pleasant, Locust, or McAllister Street can drop to 28 inches. A folding-seat stairlift fits as long as walking clearance stays above 21 inches. We measure in person and quote a fixed price — no surprises on install day.

What's financing run per month in Hanover Borough?

Financing starts at $79/month for qualified buyers. Most Hanover homeowners finance the straight install (~$3,200) over 36 months and pay $95–$110/month with no prepayment penalty.

A word from Luis

Hanover Borough in York County is the Snyder's pretzel and Utz potato chip town — 16,000 people in 4.3 square miles, anchored by Center Square where Broadway, Frederick, Carlisle, and Baltimore Streets all meet. The Historic District alone has 2,632 contributing buildings and most of them are 19th-century brick row houses with steep narrow stairs.

Pre-1900 row houses in Hanover have stair widths down to 28 inches and tread rises over 9 inches — those are the trickiest installs in the borough. The newer post-WWII neighborhoods out on Pleasant Street and around the high school have standard 35-inch widths with friendly 7-inch rises. I bolt rails to treads, never to the original brick walls behind plaster lath, and I document every install in case the next owner wants the lift removed.

For York County veterans I work the York VA Clinic at 2251 Eastern Boulevard, Suite 101 and the Lebanon VA Medical Center at 1700 South Lincoln Avenue for HISA grant authorization. PA Community HealthChoices and the OBRA waiver both cover home modifications for qualified residents.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Hanover Borough in York County is not Hanover Township up in Northampton County and it is not Hanover Township in Morris County NJ — it's the Snack Food Capital with 2,632 historic-district buildings and stair geometry that ranges from 1850s row-house steep to 1960s ranch easy. The Neas House on Abbottstown Street was built in 1783; the stairs that steep are still in use. We measure each home in person before quoting a fixed price.

Call for a free in-home assessment in the Historic District, Pleasant Hill, or anywhere across Hanover Borough — same-week installs, PA Community HealthChoices and OBRA paperwork handled, VA HISA letters processed through the York VA Clinic at 2251 Eastern Boulevard and the Lebanon VAMC at 1700 South Lincoln Avenue.
