French Valley stairs are not forgiving. Half the homes I measure in Morningstar Ranch and Spencer's Crossing have a 90° or 180° turn at the mid-landing, 36-inch tread widths, and carpeted oak stringers. A straight rail will not fit — these need a custom curved rail that hugs the inside radius.
Summer is the real design constraint. Surface temps on west-facing garage stairs hit 140°F by 3pm in August. I spec powder-coated aluminum rail, UV-stable upholstery, and a battery that tolerates garage heat.
