Stairlift Service Across Oakland County

Oakland County, MI

Kendallwood — north of 12 Mile, east of Orchard Lake Road — is the bread-and-butter Farmington Hills install. Built in the late 1960s and 1970s, these are four-bedroom colonials with 14-to-16-step straight runs to the second floor, hardwood or carpeted treads, and a finished basement with another 10-step drop. Woodcreek Hills is 113 homes on wooded hills, mostly colonials with walk-out basements that affect bottom-landing rail placement. Heritage Village features colonials with soaring ceilings and 90° turns at the upper landing requiring curved rails. Independence Commons and Chatham Hills round out the western subdivisions with a mix of ranches and colonials from the same era.

16-step second-floor run in a 1972 Kendallwood colonial — original oak preserved

Kendallwood, MI Installed March 2026

A 1972 four-bedroom colonial on Kendallwood Drive with 16 original oak treads to the second floor — the kind of warm, dark hardwood staircase that defines the neighborhood. Mrs. Feldman’s children live in Chicago and had been asking her to move for two years. She refused. We bolted the straight rail into the oak treads (never the wall, never the banister), mounted the beige seat at the bottom landing, and tested every sensor. The rail sits flush against the tread edge and practically disappears against the wood grain.

Upper-landing curve in a Heritage Village colonial — soaring foyer, one continuous rail

Heritage Village, MI Installed February 2026

A 1979 colonial in Heritage Village with a soaring two-story foyer and a staircase that curves 90° at the upper landing before opening onto the second-floor hallway. Mr. Sharma’s father moved in after a stroke and the family needed a lift that would carry him from the foyer to the bedroom hall without a mid-stair transfer. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that follows the full run including the upper-landing bend, and installed a swivel-exit seat so he steps directly onto the hallway floor. The brown upholstery sits below the hallway balustrade — nearly invisible from the foyer below.

Compact install in a 1975 Chatham Hills cape cod — stone treads, tight landing

Chatham Hills, MI Installed January 2026

A 1975 cape cod in Chatham Hills with a short, steep staircase to the second-floor bedrooms — stone-tiled treads, a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs with family photographs, and a tight landing where Mr. Antonelli parks his walker. We fitted the compact straight rail against the wall side, positioned the brown seat to clear the sideboard when parked at the bottom, and bolted into the stone treads with masonry anchors. The cozy traditional interior — his wife’s potted orchid collection on the cabinet — is completely undisturbed.

Raised stone entry in Woodcreek Hills — weather-sealed for four Michigan seasons

Woodcreek Hills, MI Installed December 2025

A 1976 colonial on a wooded hillside in Woodcreek Hills with a raised front entry — six stone-paved steps from the driveway to the front door, mature trees shading the north side, and a grade change that collects ice every winter. Mrs. Park had stopped using the front entrance after a fall on the wet stone. We installed the outdoor-rated rail with the cream weather-resistant seat, sealed motor housing, cold-pack battery rated to −30°F, and a battery blanket for the motor cover. The stone paving gave us solid anchor points.

Carpeted basement stairs in a 1973 Independence Commons ranch

Independence Commons, MI Installed November 2025

A 1973 ranch in Independence Commons with 12 carpeted steps to a finished basement — brown carpet over plywood treads, a landing at the bottom with a tiled utility floor, and a laundry room Mrs. O’Malley hadn’t been able to reach in over a year. We bolted the rail brackets through the carpet and pad into the tread structure beneath — the carpet stays intact on both sides. The brown seat matches the carpet tones so closely her neighbor thought it had always been there.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform lift in a Farmington Square colonial

Farmington Square, MI Installed October 2025

Mr. Hassan — a retired automotive engineer who uses a power wheelchair after a progressive neurological diagnosis — needed basement access for his home office and therapy equipment. A seated stairlift was not an option because he cannot safely transfer from the chair. We mounted an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor basement stairway — flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges, white safety handrail, rated for the full weight of chair plus occupant. The warm terracotta-painted basement walls and the window at the landing give the space natural light. He rolls onto the platform at the top, rides the incline, and rolls off into his office. No transfers. No assistance needed.

Common Questions

Everything Farmington Hills Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Farmington Hills right now?

Straight rails in standard Farmington Hills colonials — the 14-to-16-step second-floor runs in Kendallwood, Woodcreek Hills, and Chatham Hills — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Heritage Village and Independence Commons floor plans with upper-landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, cold-pack battery backup, installation, and the first service visit.

Do you charge Farmington Hills addresses more than nearby cities?

No. A straight rail in a Kendallwood colonial costs the same as one in Livonia, Novi, or Southfield. Equipment pricing doesn’t change by zip code. What occasionally adds a line item is an electrical permit if we pull a new dedicated circuit in a home still running the original panel — uncommon in Farmington Hills since most 1970s builds came with 200-amp service. The permit is pass-through at cost and appears on the quote before you sign.

Do I need HOA approval in my Farmington Hills subdivision?

For an interior stairlift — usually no. Interior modifications are not subject to HOA architectural review in most Farmington Hills subdivisions. However, if your HOA requires notification for any home modification (some Woodcreek Hills and Heritage Village associations do), we prepare the accommodation letter under the Michigan Condominium Act and federal Fair Housing Act at no charge. We’ve worked with boards in Kendallwood, Independence Commons, and the condo associations along 12 Mile — they know us.

Are there hidden fees for the premium subdivisions?

No. We don’t inflate quotes for Farmington Hills addresses. What varies slightly is install complexity — a Heritage Village colonial with a 90° turn at the upper landing costs more than a straight run in a Kendallwood ranch because the curved rail is custom-fabricated. But that difference is in the equipment line item, not a zip-code surcharge. Every line item is visible on the written quote.

A word from Luis

Farmington Hills is where Detroit’s 1970s middle class built the houses they planned to grow old in — four-bedroom colonials on wooded half-acre lots in Kendallwood and Woodcreek Hills, with a 16-step run to the second floor and a finished basement they haven’t seen in years. One in five residents here is over 65. The stairlift conversation isn’t a surprise to anyone in this zip code.

I’ll be at your door within 24 hours. One visit, one written price, honored for 30 days. No callbacks, no pressure.
