Stairlift Service Across Oakland County

Oakland County, MI

In Village Oaks — nearly 600 colonials, ranches, and bi-levels built 1970–1975 — the typical call is a 14-step straight run from the foyer to the bedrooms with original oak treads and 36-inch stair widths. In Meadowbrook Glens (1976–1981, 283 homes) and Dunbarton Pines (1982–1990, 343 homes), the same colonials appear alongside split-levels with a mid-landing 90° turn — curved rail territory. Orchard Hills and Orchard Ridge Estates mix ranches and raised ranches from the early 1980s; the raised ranches often have a short steep entry flight too narrow for a standard rail, so we carry the slim-profile model. In newer Chase Farms (early 2000s) and Willowbrook Farm, the stairs are wider, the treads are engineered hardwood, and the install wraps in under three hours.

14-step run in a 1973 Village Oaks colonial — original oak treads preserved

Village Oaks, MI Installed March 2026

A 1973 colonial on Cranbrooke Drive with original oak treads that Mr. Patel's wife had refinished in 2004 and refused to let anyone damage. The 14-step straight run from the foyer to the bedrooms was standard Village Oaks geometry — 36-inch width, original builder banister on the left. We bolted the beige rail directly into the oak treads, mounted the seat at the bottom landing, and tested every sensor. Mrs. Patel rode it upstairs to her sewing room the same afternoon for the first time in four months.

90° mid-landing curve in a 1979 Meadowbrook Glens split-level

Meadowbrook Glens, MI Installed February 2026

A 1979 split-level ranch on Simmons Drive with the classic Meadowbrook Glens layout — six steps from the entry to the living room, a 90° mid-landing turn, then eight steps up to the bedrooms. Two other companies told Mrs. Kowalski she would need two separate lifts. We digitally scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that follows the 90° bend, and parked the seat at the upper landing with a swivel exit. She steps off onto the hallway floor instead of onto the top tread. One ride from the entry to the bedroom hall, no transfers.

Compact straight rail in a 1985 Dunbarton Pines colonial — cozy foyer, tight clearance

Dunbarton Pines, MI Installed January 2026

A 1985 colonial in Dunbarton Pines where the foyer narrows between a wooden sideboard and the bottom stair tread — barely enough room for a standard seat when unfolded. The treads are the original stone-look tile the builder laid in the 1980s, still in perfect condition. We mounted a slim-profile rail, positioned the seat so it clears the sideboard by three inches, and added a folding footrest to keep the hallway passable. Mr. Brennan said the house finally feels the way it did before his hip replacement.

Stone-paved front entry in Orchard Hills — weather-sealed outdoor lift

Orchard Hills, MI Installed December 2025

A raised ranch in Orchard Hills with a stone-paved front entry and five steps up to the front door — north-facing, no winter sun, ice buildup from November through March. Mr. Novak had stopped using the front entrance entirely after a fall on the stone paving in January 2025. We installed the outdoor-rated rail with a sealed motor housing, the cream weather-resistant seat, cold-pack battery rated to -30°F, and a battery blanket around the motor cover for the worst of January. He walked out his own front door for the first time in eleven months on the day of install.

Wide carpeted staircase in a 2003 Chase Farms colonial — under three hours

Chase Farms, MI Installed November 2025

A 2003 colonial in Chase Farms with wide carpeted stairs, 42-inch clear width, and a modern open landing at the top. The kind of install that goes fast. Mrs. Ellison's daughter in Chicago had called us after a Thanksgiving visit where she watched her mother grip the banister with both hands on every trip upstairs. We measured on a Monday, installed the following Thursday, and Mrs. Ellison rode it upstairs that evening without touching the banister once. The brown seat blends with the carpet tones — her book club walked past it twice before anyone mentioned it.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform lift in a Village Oaks raised ranch — full wheelchair access

Village Oaks, MI Installed October 2025

A 1974 raised ranch in Village Oaks where Mr. Adeyemi returned home from Ascension Providence in Novi after a stroke and could not transfer from his wheelchair to a seated stairlift. His daughter needed a flat platform that could carry the full chair from the entry level to the main floor — eight steps, indoor stairway. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with the flat anti-slip surface, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and a white handrail. The platform rides the full indoor stairway and parks flush at the top landing. Mr. Adeyemi wheels himself on and off without any transfer or assistance.

Common Questions

Everything Novi Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Novi right now?

Straight rails in standard Novi colonials — the 14-step foyer-to-bedroom run in Village Oaks, Dunbarton Pines, or Meadowbrook Glens — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-level mid-landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor and cold-rated models for raised front stoops run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, cold-pack battery backup, installation, and the first service visit.

Do you charge more for the newer Chase Farms and Island Lake subdivisions?

No. Equipment pricing is identical across every Novi zip code and subdivision. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions — a curved rail in a split-level Meadowbrook Glens ranch costs more than a straight rail in a wide Chase Farms colonial because of the custom fabrication. But a straight rail in Chase Farms costs the same as a straight rail in Village Oaks. No neighborhood premiums, no Twelve Oaks Mall-area surcharge. The line items are on the quote before you sign.

Is the cold-pack battery really necessary in Novi?

Yes. Standard lithium batteries fail after one Michigan winter if the lift is near an exterior wall, in an unheated mudroom, or on a staircase that runs through a poorly insulated cavity. Novi is not Houghton, but the January 2019 polar vortex put overnight lows below -10°F in Oakland County and the 2014 winter killed three standard batteries in a single week across our metro Detroit fleet. Every Novi install ships with the cold-pack battery rated to -30°F as a baseline spec. Not an upsell — it's standard.

Any hidden fees for Fox Run residents or 55+ community installs?

Our quote includes any HOA or community-board paperwork we handle for you. Fox Run is an Erickson Senior Living campus — residents moving into a private home nearby sometimes need a lift installed within days of their move. We've coordinated that transition more than a dozen times with no hidden fees. For condo associations in Novi, Michigan's Condominium Act and the federal Fair Housing Act require reasonable accommodation for disabled residents — we prepare the accommodation packet with a physician medical-necessity letter template at no charge.

A word from Luis

Novi families call me for two staircases. The first is the two-story colonial in Village Oaks or Dunbarton Pines — built in the late 70s or early 80s, fourteen steps from the foyer to the bedrooms, and Mom hasn't been upstairs since the second knee gave out. The second is the split-level ranch in Meadowbrook Glens, where a six-step drop from the living room to the family room makes the house unlivable on one floor.

I'm at your door within 24 hours, I measure once, and I leave you with a written price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No follow-up calls.
