Stairlift Service Across Union County

Union County, NJ

From the pre-war colonials and Tudors of Westminster and Elmora Hills — where preserving original oak banisters and threading a rail past plaster walls drives every install decision — to the tight two-family row houses of Peterstown and Elizabethport where 28-inch-wide staircases require our slim-profile rail, our team has mapped every block in Elizabeth. We know which Bayway bungalows need salt-air corrosion specs for outdoor installs near the Arthur Kill, which North Elizabeth colonials have mid-landing turns requiring curved fabrication, and which Downtown multi-families need condo-board accommodation letters under the NJ Law Against Discrimination before we can bolt a rail to shared-staircase treads.

1942 Elmora Hills colonial — straight rail on original oak hardwood treads

Elmora Hills, NJ Installed March 2026

A 1942 Colonial Revival in Elmora Hills with original quarter-sawn oak treads and a mahogany banister that Mrs. Delgado’s late husband refinished by hand in 1987. The staircase is a standard straight run — 14 treads, 36 inches wide, hardwood in excellent condition. We bolted the rail directly into the oak treads without touching the banister, the wall, or the plaster. The slim-profile seat folds flat against the wall so the grandchildren still run up and down without squeezing past. Luis walked Mrs. Delgado through every button in Spanish twice.

Westminster Tudor — curved rail with 90-degree upper landing turn

Westminster, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1928 Tudor Revival in Westminster with a formal staircase, a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, and original plaster walls. Mr. Morales had a stroke in December 2025 and hadn’t been upstairs to the master bedroom since. We laser-scanned the full staircase, fabricated a curved rail that carries the rider from the foyer to the upstairs hallway in one continuous ride, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top so Mr. Morales steps off onto level floor instead of the top tread. The plaster walls are untouched.

1925 Peterstown stone cottage — slim-profile rail in a 29-inch staircase

Peterstown, NJ Installed January 2026

A 1925 stone-and-stucco cottage in Peterstown — one of the original Italian-built homes in the neighborhood — with a staircase barely 29 inches wide between plaster walls. Our slim-profile rail and folding seat require just 11.5 inches of stair width, leaving 17.5 inches of clearance. The stone exterior walls meant we ran a surface-mount conduit along the baseboard to the nearest outlet. The install crew worked single-file on the stairs. Sra. Rinaldi, 84, rides it to her upstairs bedroom every night.

Outdoor

Bayway bungalow — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone porch steps

Bayway, NJ Installed December 2025

A 1950s bungalow in Bayway with a raised front porch, seven stone steps, and no handrail. Mr. Kowalski is a Korean War-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the East Orange VA Medical Center. Because the house sits less than two miles from the Arthur Kill waterfront, we specified marine-grade stainless fasteners, an IP55-sealed motor housing, and epoxy-coated rail. The stone paving required masonry anchors instead of standard wood-tread bolts. Mr. Kowalski walks out his front door every morning to get the paper again.

North Elizabeth colonial — straight rail over wall-to-wall carpet

North Elizabeth, NJ Installed November 2025

A 1965 colonial in North Elizabeth with wall-to-wall carpet on the stairs. Mrs. Williams, 76, had been scooting down the stairs since her knee replacement six months earlier. We bolted the rail through the carpet directly into the wood treads underneath, using compression spacers so the carpet pile doesn’t compress unevenly over time. No carpet removal, no re-stretching. The seat folds flat and parks at the bottom so the hallway stays clear. Install took three hours including cleanup.

Platform Lift

Elizabethport two-family — indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with safety edges

Elizabethport, NJ Installed October 2025

A 1930s two-family in Elizabethport where Mr. Santos uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to stay in his chair. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift that rides along the stairway rail — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides. Mr. Santos rolls his wheelchair onto the platform, presses the control, and rides the incline between floors. The yellow edge strips are pressure-sensitive safety sensors that stop the platform instantly if anything contacts them during travel. His occupational therapist at the East Orange VA signed off, and the HISA grant covered the federal maximum.

Common Questions

Everything Elizabeth Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Elizabeth right now?

Straight rails in standard Elizabeth homes — the colonials in Elmora Hills, the two-families in Peterstown, the carpeted staircases in North Elizabeth — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Westminster Tudors and any staircase with a landing turn run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised front porches in Bayway and Elizabethport run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes rail, seat, installation, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher in Elizabeth than in other Union County towns?

Equipment prices are identical whether you’re in Elmora Hills or Linden. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: the narrow 28-to-30-inch staircases common in pre-war Peterstown cottages, masonry anchoring for outdoor stone-porch installs in Bayway, or curved fabrication for Westminster landing turns. We itemize every line on the quote. No neighborhood markups.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Elizabeth assessment can be conducted entirely in Spanish — Luis has walked hundreds of families in Peterstown, Elizabethport, and Downtown through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

Is there a travel fee for homes in Linden, Roselle, or Hillside?

No travel fee anywhere in Union County. Linden, Roselle, Roselle Park, Hillside, Cranford, Union, Kenilworth — all within our standard coverage radius. Same pricing, same-day scheduling availability.

A word from Luis

Most Elizabeth families call me after a fall — or after the second time someone’s daughter had to carry groceries up a narrow two-family staircase in Peterstown because Mom stopped going upstairs three months ago. The housing here is tight. The staircases are steep. The walls are plaster over lathe, and every third home is a pre-war two- or three-family where the interior stairs were built for 1920s footprints, not for a 78-year-old with a bad hip.

I measure in person within 24 hours, quote on the spot, and honor it for 30 days. No follow-up sales calls. No bait-and-switch. En español si lo prefiere.
