A straight-rail lift for one of the older two-story homes off the main inland streets is the cheaper install, since the rail runs in one line with no bend to fabricate. If your staircase has a landing or a turn — more common in some of the pre-condo-boom houses near Borough Hall than in the newer construction — the curved rail costs more because it's custom-built to that one stairway. We don't quote sight unseen; we quote from photos or a walkthrough.
