Stairlift Service Across Hennepin County

Hennepin County, MN

The defining house in Eden Prairie is the 1970s–1980s split-level built after the I-494 extension — front door to foyer, six steps down to the family room, ten up to the bedrooms. A straight rail handles either run; a curved rail handles both without a mid-landing transfer. Around Purgatory Creek and Bryant Lake, 1980s–1990s colonials and walkout ramblers on larger lots have 14- to 16-step main runs and finished lower levels that often need a second outdoor rail to the patio. The newer southwest neighborhoods near Dell Road have wider stairs and installs that wrap in three hours. Townhome clusters along Prairie Center Drive bring HOA approvals into play, but Minnesota’s Common Interest Ownership Act and the federal Fair Housing Act require reasonable accommodation — we prepare the packet at no charge.

Straight

1988 colonial near Purgatory Creek — straight rail on original oak treads

Purgatory Creek, MN Installed March 2026

A 1988 two-story colonial on a wooded lot backing up to Purgatory Creek, with a 15-tread straight run in the original dark oak. Mrs. Sorensen’s daughter in Chicago had called three companies before us — the first two wanted to anchor through the wall. We bolted the rail directly into the oak tread wood, mounted the beige seat that warms against the honey-toned stairway, and parked the chair flush at the bottom landing next to the hall table. Zero wall contact, zero banister contact. The seat and footrest fold flat so the rest of the household still uses the stair normally.

1976 split-level off Flying Cloud Drive — 90° curved rail through the mid-landing

Northeast Eden Prairie, MN Installed February 2026

A 1976 split-level on a cul-de-sac off Flying Cloud Drive — the classic Eden Prairie layout with a 90° landing turn between levels. Mrs. Lindquist, 79, had been sleeping on the living room couch since Thanksgiving because the landing turn was too much with a walker. We digitally scanned the full run, fabricated a continuous curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the upper landing, and installed a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto the upstairs hallway floor. The brown upholstered seat parks neatly at the top next to the framed family photos on the landing wall. She slept in her own bedroom that night for the first time in four months.

Straight

1982 bi-level near Dell Road — compact rail past the hallway sideboard

Southwest Eden Prairie, MN Installed January 2026

A 1982 bi-level on a quiet street near Dell Road with a 12-tread run and a wooden sideboard built into the stairway wall that the Petersons have had since they moved in 43 years ago. Mr. Peterson, 83, had been using both hands on the railing for the last two years. We specified the slim-profile rail on the opposite side so the brown seat rides past the sideboard with inches to spare. The stone-tiled landing at the bottom gives a solid footing when stepping off, and the compact folding footrest tucks flush when parked so Mrs. Peterson can still walk up alongside him.

Outdoor

Bryant Lake walkout — outdoor rail on stone-paved entry steps

Bryant Lake, MN Installed December 2025

A 1990 walkout rambler on a sloped lot near Bryant Lake Regional Park with a stone-paved front entry and seven steps up to the covered porch. Mr. Thorson’s knee replacement at Methodist Hospital had made the rough stone steps impossible. We mounted the weather-resistant cream seat on a galvanized rail along the entry stairs, sealed every bracket against Minnesota’s freeze-thaw cycles, and fitted drainage channels so meltwater does not pool on the stone paving and re-freeze. The -30°F cold-pack battery rides through the worst January nights without a missed cycle.

Prairie Center townhome — straight rail on carpeted stairs, HOA approved in nine days

Prairie Center, MN Installed November 2025

A 2006 townhome off Prairie Center Drive with wide carpeted stairs and a homeowner who was worried about the HOA board. We prepared the reasonable-accommodation packet under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 515B, submitted it with a medical-necessity letter from Mrs. Chen’s physician at Park Nicollet, and had written approval within nine days. The rail bolts through the carpet into the tread structure beneath, the brown seat blends with the warm carpet tones on the landing, and wall-mounted switches at top and bottom let her call the chair from either floor. Three hours from arrival to walkthrough.

Platform Lift

Northeast split-entry — indoor wheelchair platform for a power-chair user

Northeast Eden Prairie, MN Installed October 2025

Mr. Gustafson uses a power wheelchair after bilateral knee replacement at Abbott Northwestern, and their 1974 split-entry off Mitchell Road has an interior stairway from the garage level to the main floor that made a standard seat lift impractical. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with high-visibility yellow safety edges along the indoor stairway, a flat anti-slip deck that folds up when not in use, and a keyed call station at the lower landing. The platform carries the wheelchair and rider from the garage level to the kitchen without any transfers. The cold-pack battery handled a polar vortex warning the week after install without a missed cycle.

Common Questions

Everything Eden Prairie Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Eden Prairie right now?

Straight rails in a standard Eden Prairie home — the 1970s split-levels off Flying Cloud Drive, the 1980s colonials around Purgatory Creek, the newer townhomes along Prairie Center — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-levels that need a continuous ride from the foyer through the mid-landing to the bedrooms run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor rails for walkout ramblers and raised entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, cold-pack battery backup rated to -30°F, installation, and the first service visit.

Does the price change based on neighborhood or home value?

No. Equipment prices are the same whether your home is on a half-acre lot off Dell Road or in a townhome cluster near Town Center. What varies is the rail configuration — a straight run in a post-2000 colonial is the simplest install we do, while a continuous curved rail through a 1970s split-level mid-landing takes more fabrication time and costs more because the rail is custom. We quote line items, not addresses. No ‘Eden Prairie premium.’

Do you charge extra for a FaceTime walkthrough with an out-of-town family member?

No. About a third of our Eden Prairie consultations involve an adult child joining by FaceTime or Zoom from outside the Twin Cities — Chicago, Denver, the coasts. We walk the camera through the staircase, show every measurement, and answer every question before a dollar changes hands. It is a standard part of the assessment because adult children coordinating from out of state deserve to see what they are approving.

Is a refurbished stairlift worth considering in Minnesota?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30–40%. We carry factory-reconditioned rails with new upholstery, new cold-pack batteries rated to -30°F, and a 2-year warranty. We will not sell a refurbished unit in the Twin Cities metro without replacing the battery to our cold-weather spec — factory-default batteries fail in a single Minnesota January. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never available because each rail is custom-fabricated to your staircase geometry.

A word from Luis

Eden Prairie calls usually start the same way — an adult child in Edina or Minnetonka calls about a parent who built or bought a house off Flying Cloud Drive or Prairie Center Drive in the late 1970s or early 1980s, and the split-level that made sense for a family of five does not make sense for one person with a bad knee and a Minnesota winter ahead.

What I do: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure the run with a laser, and leave you with a written quote honored for 30 days. Every Eden Prairie unit ships with cold-pack batteries rated to -30°F — the same spec we use across the entire Twin Cities metro. No pressure. No upsells.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

If your parent’s split-level off Flying Cloud Drive stopped making sense after a knee replacement, or you’re coordinating from Chicago because your father hasn’t gone upstairs since October — that’s the call we get most in Eden Prairie. A straight rail in a 1980s colonial installs in a single morning. A curved rail for a 1970s split-level takes two weeks to fabricate but one afternoon to install.

Call or fill out the form. Luis drives to your house within 24 hours, measures every tread with a laser, and leaves a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. Cold-pack battery rated to -30°F standard on every install.
