Stairlift Service Across Hennepin County

Hennepin County, MN

From Minnetonka Mills — the city's historic core near the Minnehaha Creek outlet, with Victorian-era cottages on small lots and 1960s infill ranches with narrow stairwells requiring compact-profile rails — to Williston, where 1970s and 1980s executive-era homes on wooded half-acre lots have the 14-step straight runs we install in a single morning. We know which Glen Lake ramblers have original carpet over hardwood that anchors cleanly, which Ridgedale townhomes have HOA covenants that trigger a board-approval process, and which Opus-area condo developments near Highway 62 have elevator-adjacent layouts where our lift supplements the building's own vertical access.

1978 Williston two-story — straight rail on original oak with wrought-iron balusters preserved

Williston, MN Installed March 2026

A 1978 executive two-story in the Williston neighborhood with 14 original oak treads, wrought-iron balusters, and a carved newel post the family would not allow us to touch. Mrs. Lindquist, 81, had been sleeping on the main floor for six weeks after a hip replacement. We confirmed the oak treads were solid enough to anchor the mounting hardware away from any baluster contact, and installed Friday. The rail parks flush against the stair side wall — the balusters are untouched, the newel post is untouched. Cold-pack battery tested through a full charge-discharge cycle before we left.

1971 Minnetonka Mills winding stair — curved rail preserving a Victorian-era banister

Minnetonka Mills, MN Installed February 2026

A 1971 home in Minnetonka Mills built on a wooded lot above Minnehaha Creek, with a winding staircase — a gradual 180-degree wind from the entry up to the upper hallway. Two companies told the family a single rail was not possible. We brought a laser scanner on the first visit, built a digital model of the geometry, and custom-fabricated a continuous curved rail that rides the full 180 degrees without a break. The original Victorian-style banister was never touched. Mr. Erickson, 84, rode it for the first time and said it was smoother than the escalator at Ridgedale. Chair swivels at the upper landing so he steps onto hallway carpet.

Ridgedale townhome — compact rail near a sideboard in a traditional open-plan entry

Ridgedale, MN Installed January 2026

A contemporary townhome near Ridgedale with travertine tile floors at the entry and a traditional compact staircase next to a wooden sideboard. Mr. Park's mother, 78, had moved in from Eden Prairie after a stroke. The staircase had stone-look tile treads and a cottage-style banister in a compact space. We mounted the slim-profile rail on the tread side, positioned the seat so it folds flat next to the sideboard when parked at the bottom landing, and selected neutral upholstery to match the traditional interior. The Ridgedale townhome association required an accommodation packet; we filed it in two business days.

Stone-paved front entry lift at a Williston raised ranch with covered porch

Williston, MN Installed December 2025

A 1975 raised ranch in Williston with a covered front porch and six original stone-paved entry steps from the driveway to the front door. Mr. Gustafson, 76, could no longer manage the uneven stone after Parkinson's disease advanced. We mounted a weather-resistant cream-colored seat on the outdoor rail, anchored into the stone paving at the base. Drainage channels route roof overhang runoff away from the track so it does not pool and re-freeze overnight. Every component is cold-rated to -30°F and the motor is weather-sealed. Ran through the full November-to-March stretch without a service call.

Carpeted stair run in a Glen Lake rambler — seat matched to carpet tones

Glen Lake, MN Installed November 2025

A 1965 Glen Lake rambler with 11 carpeted stair treads running from the tiled front entry up to the landing. Mrs. Hanson's physical therapist at Methodist Hospital had flagged the top landing specifically — the step off the top tread at an angle was the motion that caused most post-surgery falls. We mounted the rail through the carpet into the treads beneath, selected brown upholstery that matches the carpet tone, and parked the seat at the landing near the hall light switches. The tiled floor at the bottom stays clear. She's been using it four times a day since November without incident.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges in a Ridgedale townhome

Ridgedale, MN Installed October 2025

The Nguyen family's grandmother uses a wheelchair and could not transfer to a seated stairlift. Their Ridgedale-area townhome had an indoor stairway with warm-toned walls and a window at the mid-landing. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift — a flat anti-slip platform with high-visibility yellow safety edges, not a seat — with a white handrail on the wall side. The platform folds up when not in use so the stairway stays clear for the three grandchildren who visit from Bloomington every weekend. She operates it independently every day.

Common Questions

Everything Minnetonka Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Minnetonka right now?

Straight rails in standard Minnetonka homes — the 1970s and 1980s executive two-stories in Williston, the ramblers in Glen Lake, the newer builds near Ridgedale — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, required for staircases with a landing turn or winding section common in older Minnetonka Mills homes, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your staircase geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised entries or lake-access steps run $4,500 to $8,000 with cold-pack batteries and drainage channels included.

Do you charge a premium for Minnetonka's executive or lake-area homes?

Equipment pricing is the same across the west metro — we don't adjust quotes based on address, home value, or neighborhood. The only Minnetonka-specific spec is the cold-pack battery, which we include on every Minnesota install as standard. The one situation that can add cost is custom millwork preservation: if your 1978 Williston home has an original carved newel post that requires special bracket fabrication to avoid contact, we tell you the line-item cost before you decide.

Does the Minnesota Elderly Waiver cover stairlifts for Minnetonka residents?

Yes — through the Elderly Waiver under Minnesota's Medical Assistance program, administered for Minnetonka through Hennepin County. Stairlifts qualify under the Environmental Accessibility Adaptations (EAA) benefit, with a $20,000 lifetime cap that covers most curved rail installs outright. Call the Senior LinkAge Line at 1-800-333-2433, get routed to Hennepin County, complete a MnCHOICES assessment (typically 14 to 45 days), and name us as your EAA vendor. We handle the Community Support Plan documentation at no charge.

Do you offer financing if I don't qualify for a grant?

Yes. Three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and low fixed-rate plans from $79 per month. Application is a soft credit pull (no hit to your score), takes about 4 minutes, and approval is usually instant. Many Minnetonka families combine financing with the Minnesota Housing Fix Up Loan (unsecured up to $25,000, 651-296-7608) or a partial Elderly Waiver benefit to bring the monthly payment down further. We walk through the math during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Minnetonka is one of the most senior-heavy cities in the Twin Cities metro. At 22% age 65 or older and nearly 6% age 80 or older, this is a city where the stairlift conversation isn't theoretical — it's happening right now in Williston, Glen Lake, and Minnetonka Mills.

The homes here are beautiful: 1970s custom-built two-stories with wide oak staircases, 1980s executive ranches with raised entries and long exterior steps, lake-adjacent builds with layouts designed to capture the view, not manage the stairs. My job is to make the lift disappear into the house. You called me because you need the stairs to stop being a risk — not because you want the house to look like a hospital room.

Every assessment starts with a laser measure and ends with a written quote good for 30 days. Cold-pack batteries on every install. No exceptions in Minnesota.
