Stairlift Service Across Eau Claire County

Eau Claire County, WI

From the Third Ward — where 1880s–1920s Victorians line the bluffs above the Chippewa River with steep formal stairways, original fir treads, and ornate banisters — to Randall Park, where late-1800s farmhouse-style homes and craftsman bungalows have narrow stairs and tight upper landings that require slim-profile seats, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Eau Claire. We know which Emery Street bungalows need a compact rail with a folding footrest, which west-side split-levels from the 1960s have the mid-landing turn that requires a curved rail, and which Eastside Hill homes have the raised front entries that benefit from an outdoor lift before the first November freeze.

1895 Third Ward Victorian — rail alongside original fir treads and carved newel post

Third Ward, WI Installed March 2026

A three-story Victorian on the bluffs above the Chippewa River, built in 1895 for a lumber-company foreman, with original fir treads and a carved walnut newel post the family has maintained for 130 years. Mrs. Halverson’s daughter called from Minneapolis after her mother stopped going upstairs to her bedroom. We brought rail-finish samples on the first visit, matched the beige seat to the warm fir, and bolted the track into the treads without touching a single spindle or the carved newel. The lift parks flush at the lower landing, and Mrs. Halverson sleeps in her own bed again.

90° landing turn in a 1965 west-side split-level

West Side, WI Installed February 2026

A 1965 split-level on the west side with the classic Chippewa Valley layout — five steps down to the family room, a 90° landing turn, then nine up to the bedrooms. A straight rail was impossible. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that threads past the landing light fixture, and installed in a single afternoon. Mr. Pedersen swivels at the top landing to step off onto the hallway carpet instead of the top tread. The foundation had settled about a quarter-inch over 60 Wisconsin winters — we shimmed the rail brackets to compensate.

Randall Park farmhouse — compact rail in a narrow 1900s stairwell

Randall Park, WI Installed January 2026

A turn-of-the-century farmhouse in Randall Park with narrow stairs, low ceilings at the upper landing, and a wooden sideboard built into the stairway wall that the family considered non-negotiable. We specified the slim-profile rail on the opposite side so the seat rides past the sideboard with inches to spare. The compact folding footrest tucks flush when parked, and the chair clears the low ceiling header at the top by the margins we measured on the first visit.

Eastside Hill raised entry — freeze-thaw sealed before the November freeze

Eastside Hill, WI Installed December 2025

A raised front entry on the east side with seven concrete steps up to the porch — iced over from November through March in most years. Mr. Olson is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Minneapolis VA system. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, had the prescription back in six weeks, and installed the outdoor lift before Thanksgiving. Every bracket is hot-dip galvanized, the motor housing is sealed against Wisconsin’s 80+ annual freeze-thaw cycles, and the -25°F battery has ridden through two full Eau Claire winters without a missed cycle.

Emery Street bungalow — swivel-exit seat on carpeted stairs with a tight upper landing

Emery Street, WI Installed November 2025

A 1920s bungalow in the Emery Street historic district with steep carpeted stairs to the second floor and a landing so tight that stepping off the top tread was the single biggest fall risk in the house. Mrs. Bergstrom’s husband had slipped there the previous January on the way to the bathroom at night. The rail bolts through the carpet into the tread wood beneath, the brown seat blends with the carpet tones, and the swivel-exit rotates 90° at the upper landing so she stands on the hallway floor instead of the top step. The folding footrest keeps the stairway clear for her grandchildren.

Platform Lift

Altoona split-entry — indoor wheelchair platform for a power chair user

Altoona, WI Installed October 2025

The Xiong family’s father uses a power wheelchair and their split-entry home in Altoona has an interior stairway from the garage level to the main floor — six steps with a turn that made a standard seat lift impractical. We installed an inclined platform lift with high-visibility yellow safety edges along the indoor stairway, a fold-up deck when not in use, and a keyed call station at the lower landing. The platform handles the wheelchair and rider without any transfers, and the cold-weather-rated battery has operated through two full Chippewa Valley winters without a missed cycle.

Common Questions

Everything Eau Claire Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Eau Claire right now?

Straight rails in standard Eau Claire homes — the Third Ward Victorians, the Randall Park bungalows, the west-side ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-levels with a mid-landing turn run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries and basement walk-outs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Eau Claire than Madison or Milwaukee?

Equipment prices are the same across Wisconsin. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original woodwork in 1890s Third Ward homes, compensating for century-old tread wear in Randall Park farmhouses, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a pre-1940 house still running a 60-amp panel. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise surcharges.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering in this climate?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% — we carry factory-reconditioned rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. We do not sell refurbished units in Eau Claire County without replacing the battery to our cold-weather spec, because factory-default batteries fail in Chippewa Valley winters. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never available because each rail is custom-fabricated. Ask during the assessment.

Any hidden fees for homes in older Eau Claire neighborhoods?

Our quote covers everything: rail, seat, installation labor, battery backup, and the first service visit. The only add-on we occasionally see in older east-side neighborhoods — Third Ward, Randall Park, Emery Street — is a dedicated electrical circuit when the existing outlet can’t handle the load. A new circuit adds $200–$400 and is handled by our Wisconsin-licensed electrician. We tell you on the first visit, not after.

A word from Luis

Most Eau Claire families call me after something real — a slip on the steep hardwood stairs in a Third Ward Victorian, a parent who stopped going upstairs after the first ice storm, a daughter in Minneapolis worried about her widowed father in a Randall Park farmhouse he’s owned for 40 years.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.

A curved rail for a west-side split-level takes two weeks to fabricate but one afternoon to install.
