Stairlift Service Across Riverside County

Riverside County, CA

Desert Palms is a compact census-designated place at the eastern edge of the Coachella Valley, tucked between Bermuda Dunes and Thousand Palms along Highway 74. Most homes here are single-story manufactured dwellings from the 1970s through 1990s — the median resident age is 77, one of the oldest populations in Riverside County. The typical Desert Palms home has three to five front-entry steps and an interior staircase to a loft or sunroom, making straight stairlifts the most common install we do. In the adjacent Sun City Palm Desert 55-plus community and the Palm Desert Country Club area, we see more two-story layouts with curved staircases and tiled outdoor entryways that call for weatherproof outdoor lifts. Monsoon-season power outages make battery backup non-negotiable for every lift we put in here.

Straight

Straight Rail on Oak Treads — Desert Palms Drive Manufactured Home

Desert Palms Drive, CA Installed May 2026

The Bradleys' 1984 manufactured home has a short oak staircase — seven treads — leading to a sunroom Mrs. Bradley uses as her sewing studio. After a fall in March, she stopped climbing those stairs entirely. We bolted a 10-foot straight rail directly to the oak treads, parked the cream seat at the bottom landing, and had the lift running in three hours. Mrs. Bradley was back in her sunroom before lunch.

Curved Rail Around Half-Wall — Ironwood Country Club

Ironwood Country Club, CA Installed April 2026

The Nakamuras' two-story home in Ironwood Country Club has a curved staircase that wraps 90 degrees around a half-wall at the upper landing, under a chandelier. The rail was custom-bent from laser measurements and assembled in four segments on site. The brown seat parks at the top floor, letting Mrs. Nakamura descend each morning without managing the turn on foot.

Straight Rail on Stone Treads — Sun City Palm Desert Villa

Sun City Palm Desert, CA Installed March 2026

The Hoffmans' Sun City Palm Desert villa has stone tile treads and a compact staircase near the living room sideboard. Mr. Hoffman, 79, was avoiding the upstairs guest bath entirely. We bolted a 12-foot straight rail to the stone treads using a masonry bit — no wall damage — and parked the brown seat at the bottom near the wooden cabinet. The lift tucks neatly against the wall when folded.

Outdoor

Outdoor Stairlift on Stone-Paved Entry — Cahuilla Hills

Cahuilla Hills, CA Installed February 2026

The Morrisons' Cahuilla Hills home has a rough stone-paved front entry with eight steps — no handrail on the left side, which made Mrs. Morrison nervous after her knee surgery. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor lift with a cream seat, anchored to the stone treads. IP55-rated against Coachella Valley dust and UV, the rail has held up through a full summer of 110°F afternoons and two monsoon downpours.

Straight Rail on Carpeted Stairs — Palm Desert Country Club

Palm Desert Country Club, CA Installed January 2026

The Rivases own a single-family home in the Palm Desert Country Club area with wall-to-wall beige carpet on the staircase. The brown seat blends into the carpet tones so well that visitors do not notice the lift until it is pointed out. We bolted the 14-foot straight rail through the carpet into the treads — no rug damage, no visible hardware on the walls. Mrs.

Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift — Bermuda Dunes Residence

Bermuda Dunes, CA Installed June 2026

The Chens' Bermuda Dunes home has 13 stairs between the main floor and the bedroom level. Mr. Chen uses a wheelchair full-time after a spinal injury. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges — it carries his wheelchair up the staircase without a transfer. The white handrail runs parallel to the platform track. The DC motor and battery backup keep the lift operational through summer storm outages.

Common Questions

Everything Desert Palms Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Desert Palms?

A straight stairlift in Desert Palms starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 since the rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000, and the heavy-duty 600 lb model starts at $5,050. These prices include the in-home measurement, installation, and the first year of service. We do not charge travel fees to Desert Palms — our installer is based in the Coachella Valley.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Desert Palms?

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover stairlifts because it classifies them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Riverside County do offer a home-safety allowance that can offset part of the cost. We recommend calling your plan's member-services line and asking specifically about 'home accessibility benefit' or 'home modification allowance.' We can provide the documentation your plan needs.

Are there any hidden fees with Desert Palms stairlift installation?

No. The price quoted at the in-home assessment is the final price. It covers the rail, seat, motor, battery backup, installation labor, and the first year of service. We do not charge for travel within the Coachella Valley, and we do not add surprise fees for staircases with unusual tread materials like tile or stone — common in Desert Palms homes.

What financing options are available for Desert Palms residents?

We offer financing starting at $79 per month with approved credit, with terms up to 60 months. Many Desert Palms residents also use VA HISA grants (up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans), the CalAIM Environmental Accessibility Adaptations benefit through Medi-Cal (up to $7,500), or the USDA Section 504 Home Repair grant for low-income seniors. We help with the paperwork for all three programs at the assessment.

A word from Luis

Desert Palms is different from the rest of the Coachella Valley. The median age here is 77 — nearly every home I walk into belongs to a retiree who's been in the valley 20 or 30 years. Most of these manufactured homes have three to five steps at the entry and a short interior staircase to a sunroom or loft. I'd say eight out of ten installs I do here are straight rails on those interior stairs. The biggest thing I tell folks is to get the battery backup — when a monsoon storm rolls through in August and knocks out power for six hours, that lift still runs.

I've put lifts into homes on Desert Palms Drive, over in the Sun City Palm Desert community, and in the older ranch-style houses near Bermuda Dunes. The construction varies — some have oak treads, some have tile, a few still have the original carpets from the '80s — but the install process is the same: we bolt the rail to the treads, not the wall. Takes about three hours. I always tell families the same thing: call me before you start rearranging the downstairs bedroom. Let me measure the stairs first.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Desert Palms has one of the oldest median ages in California — 77 — which means stairlift demand here is higher per capita than almost anywhere else in the Coachella Valley. Whether you live in a manufactured home off Desert Palms Drive, a Sun City Palm Desert villa, or a ranch-style house near Bermuda Dunes, we handle the whole process: free measurement, same-week install, and a five-year warranty that covers every component including the battery.

Call Luis at the number above or fill out the form for a no-obligation in-home assessment. He brings a rail sample so you can see exactly how the lift fits your staircase before you commit to anything. Most Desert Palms installs wrap up in a single morning.
