Expert Stairlift Installation in DeLand, FL

DeLand's Garden District is full of 1920s Mediterranean Revival homes built during the Florida Land Boom, sitting a few blocks from the Downtown DeLand Historic District's 19th-century storefronts along Woodland Boulevard — and staircases from that era were never built with a stairlift, or an aging homeowner, in mind. Add in that roughly one in five DeLand residents is 65 or older, and we spend a fair amount of time in this town measuring narrow, steep runs in century-old houses right alongside the wider, single-story layouts further out toward the edges of the city. The flat, low-lying terrain here — DeLand sits at about 72 feet — at least makes delivery and access straightforward, even when the staircase itself isn't.

Common Questions

Everything DeLand Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost for a DeLand home?

A straight-rail stairlift for a single, uninterrupted flight costs less because the rail comes in standard lengths. A lot of what we see in the Garden District and around the Downtown DeLand Historic District isn't a straight run, though — those 1920s Mediterranean Revival homes often have a turn or a half-landing partway up, which means a custom-bent curved rail measured to that specific staircase, and custom rail costs more than off-the-shelf.

Does the age of a DeLand house change the price?

It can. Homeownership here runs around 62.6%, and the housing stock splits pretty cleanly between pre-1930s two-story homes near downtown with tighter, steeper stairwells and newer single-story or ranch-style homes on the outskirts where an indoor lift sometimes isn't even needed — an exterior lift for a porch step covers it instead, and that's usually a smaller job.

Is DeLand's pricing different from nearby Deltona or Daytona Beach?

Not because of the zip code — cost is driven by the staircase itself: length, whether it turns, indoor versus outdoor. What is worth checking locally is funding, since Volusia County residents route stairlift-related Medicaid requests through ElderSource, and that can change what you actually pay out of pocket.

A word from Luis
I've measured stairways in the Garden District that go back to the Land Boom years near Stetson, and the tread depth on those older builds catches people off guard every time compared to anything built in the last few decades. DeLand doesn't fight us on terrain — it's flat, low, drained by the St. Johns, no hills to speak of — but the town has had its share of severe weather, including the EF-3 tornado back in February 2007, so when someone wants an exterior lift for a porch or entry step we build it to hold up, not just to look nice. Most of the calls I get here aren't emergencies; it's someone who's been managing the same staircase for years and finally decided the risk isn't worth it anymore.
