It depends heavily on which side of the river you're on. A straight staircase in a mainland home is the simplest and least expensive job we do. A curved or custom track — more common in the older, converted houses near Main Street — costs more because the rail has to be built to match the exact turn of the stairs. We quote after walking the stairs in person, not off a phone description.
Usually, yes, but not because of the equipment. It's the building requirements. Several oceanfront buildings want photos or specs of the proposed track submitted to the HOA or property manager before work starts, and some limit which days a crew can be on site. None of that changes what the lift itself costs, but it can add time and occasionally a coordination step.
Florida's Homestead exemption plus the additional senior exemption can reduce your taxable home value by up to $50,000 each — that doesn't pay for the lift directly, but it lowers your annual property tax bill and frees up cash. FAAST's New Horizon Loan Program is more direct: a low-interest loan, generally $3,000–$30,000, for home modifications including stairlifts. Confirm the current cap directly with FAAST.
