Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Branch County

Branch County, MI

Our Coldwater work covers the full housing range. In the East Chicago Street Historic District, 1840s-1900s Italianates and Queen Annes have steep narrow oak treads and original newel posts that need careful bracket spacing. South Monroe Street Historic District Greek Revival cottages from the 1850s-1870s have tight stairwells with stone-tile entries and short rail runs. The Marshall Street Historic District on the north side holds 1920s Craftsman bungalows with enclosed stairwells and low ceilings, and the West Pearl Street Historic District mixes Victorian-era homes with mid-century infill on carpeted treads. Around the Downtown Coldwater Historic District off West Chicago Street, second-floor walk-ups sit above brick storefronts. Out at Shawnee Shoals on Coldwater Lake, newer two-story builds take a standard rail on engineered hardwood.

Shawnee Shoals on Coldwater Lake — straight rail on oak treads

Shawnee Shoals, MI Installed January 2026

The Aldrich home in Shawnee Shoals on Coldwater Lake is a 2008 two-story with dark oak treads running 14 feet up from the front hallway. We bolted the rail straight into the treads, parked the cream seat at the bottom landing facing the door, and tested the DC battery backup before leaving. Mr. Aldrich, 76, rode it up to the second floor for the first time since his knee surgery.

East Chicago Street Historic District, MI Installed December 2025

This 1890s Italianate on East Chicago Street has steep oak treads and a carved newel post at the base. The stair turns 90 degrees at the upper landing. We laser-surveyed the run, fabricated the curved rail to bend past the newel post without touching the period millwork, and parked the brown seat at the upper floor. Curved rails start at $9,000.

South Monroe Street — short rail in an 1860s stone-entry cottage

South Monroe Street Historic District, MI Installed November 2025

The Weavers' 1860s Greek Revival cottage on South Monroe sits a few doors from the old Lake Shore depot. The entry stair runs 8 feet on flagstone treads with a wooden sideboard at the foot. We mounted the rail on stainless anchors that bit the stone without cracking, parked the brown seat next to the sideboard, and folded the footrest tight against the rail. Mrs. Weaver rode up to the kitchen that evening.

The Hayward home off Park Avenue near the South Monroe district has a covered front porch with six concrete steps down to the sidewalk. We installed an outdoor unit with marine-grade aluminum rail and an IP55-sealed motor housing built for southern Michigan freeze-thaw cycles. The cream seat parks at porch level so Mr. Hayward reaches the front walk without picking down icy steps in January.

West Pearl Street Historic District, MI Installed September 2025

The Nolans' 1965 ranch on West Pearl Street has a 12-foot carpeted run and a tile floor at the base. We bolted the rail through the carpet into the plywood substrate, picked a brown seat that matched the warm-tan pile, and parked it near the upper landing. The seat folds flat to leave a 25-inch clear pass. Mr. Nolan, 83, rides up at night when his balance is worst.

Common Questions

Everything Coldwater Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a straight stairlift cost in Coldwater?

A straight stairlift in Coldwater starts at $2,800 installed. Final price depends on rail length, seat options, and whether your treads are oak, carpet over plywood, or painted softwood. Most Coldwater homes need a 12-to-15-foot rail, which keeps the total between $2,800 and $4,200.

Why are curved stairlifts more expensive in Coldwater's older homes?

Curved rails are custom-fabricated from a laser survey of your specific staircase. The steep narrow layouts with tight upper-landing turns common in East Chicago Street and South Monroe Street homes need bends welded to match your exact angles. That fabrication step is why curved units start at $9,000 compared to $2,800 for a straight run.

Does All American Stairlifts offer financing in Coldwater?

Yes. We offer monthly financing starting at $79/month with approved credit. Many Coldwater homeowners use it to spread the cost of a curved or heavy-duty unit over 24 to 60 months while keeping the install on schedule.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home in Coldwater?

Yes. Even in Coldwater's affordable Branch County market, selling a home, paying closing costs, and buying a single-story property runs into the tens of thousands in transaction costs alone — before moving expenses or the disruption of leaving a neighborhood you have lived in for decades. A stairlift costs a fraction of that and lets you stay put.

A word from Luis

Coldwater has the most varied staircase stock I see anywhere in southern Michigan. The East Chicago Street and South Monroe Street homes were built between the 1840s and 1900 — steep narrow oak treads, ornate newel posts I work around carefully when positioning a rail. These stairs are often steeper than current code allows, so the rail angle needs precise calibration for a level ride at any speed.

On the other side of town, the 1960s ranches off West Pearl Street and the U.S.-12 corridor have short carpeted runs that still matter when arthritis or a hip replacement makes every step painful. The newer builds out at Shawnee Shoals on Coldwater Lake have standard two-story layouts with wide engineered-hardwood runs — those are the cleanest installs I do. I measure every staircase myself and hand you a written price before any work starts.
