Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Branch County

Branch County, MI

Our Coldwater installations cover the full range of housing stock in Branch County. In the East Chicago Street Historic District, Victorian-era homes with steep narrow staircases and original hardwood treads require careful bracket spacing to avoid the ornate newel posts and spindles. South Monroe Street residences from the same period have similarly steep runs with painted wood treads and tight turns at the upper landing where a curved rail routes around the banister without touching the period millwork.

Marshall Street Historic District homes feature early-twentieth-century Craftsman bungalows with enclosed stairwells and low ceilings that demand a compact-profile seat. Along the US-12 corridor, mid-century ranch homes with split-level entries need short straight rails on carpet-over-plywood treads. Near Coldwater Lake, newer two-story homes have wide open staircases with engineered hardwood that accept standard rail brackets. Downtown Coldwater loft conversions above the storefronts on East Chicago Street sometimes present exposed-brick stairwells where wall clearance is tight and the rail must mount exclusively to the treads.

Straight

Coldwater Lake — straight rail on carpeted treads in modern two-story

Coldwater Lake, MI Installed January 2026

The Aldrich home near Coldwater Lake is a two-story build from 2008 with a wide carpeted staircase and an open landing at the top. We bolted a 14-foot straight rail to the treads through the carpet into the plywood substrate, positioned the beige seat at the bottom landing near the front door, and tested the DC battery backup before leaving. Mr. Aldrich, 76, rode the lift to the second floor for the first time in several weeks after his knee surgery.

East Chicago Street — curved rail around tight Victorian turn

East Chicago Street Historic District, MI Installed December 2025

This 1890s Victorian on East Chicago Street has a steep staircase with original oak treads and an ornate carved newel post at the base. The staircase turns 90 degrees at the upper landing into a narrow hallway. We fabricated a curved rail from a laser survey, routing it past the newel post and around the tight bend without touching the period millwork. The brown seat parks at the top floor clear of the hallway doorframe.

US-12 Corridor — short straight rail on split-level entry

US-12 Corridor, MI Installed November 2025

The Weavers' 1960s ranch home along US-12 has a split-level entry with five carpeted steps between the garage landing and the main floor. We mounted a short 8-foot rail to the treads through the carpet into the plywood substrate. The compact seat folds flat at the top of the short run, keeping the full entry width open for foot traffic. Mrs. Weaver, recovering from a fall, used the lift to reach the kitchen unassisted the same evening.

South Monroe Street — outdoor unit on historic front porch

South Monroe Street Historic District, MI Installed October 2025

The Hayward home on South Monroe Street has a covered front porch with six concrete steps leading down to the sidewalk. We installed an outdoor-rated unit with a marine-grade aluminum rail and an IP55-sealed motor housing built to withstand southern Michigan's heavy snowfall, road salt drift, and freeze-thaw cycles. The cream-colored seat sits at porch level, allowing Mr. Hayward to reach the front walk without navigating icy steps in winter.

Marshall Street — compact seat under low Craftsman ceiling

Marshall Street Historic District, MI Installed September 2025

This 1920s Craftsman bungalow on Marshall Street has an enclosed stairwell with low ceilings and original painted wood treads. We selected a compact-profile seat that clears the ceiling by several inches at the highest point of the ride and folds tight against the rail when parked. The narrow stairwell left just enough width for the rail and a person walking past. Mr. Nolan, 83, navigates between floors independently for the first time since his balance declined last year.

Downtown Coldwater — indoor wheelchair platform between levels

Downtown Coldwater, MI Installed August 2025

The Fischers' downtown Coldwater home has a full flight of stairs between the lower-level family room and the main living area. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges along a white handrail. Mr. Fischer, a wheelchair user, rolls onto the platform at the lower level, engages the safety gate, and rides to the main floor without transferring out of his chair. The keyed call station at each level prevents unattended operation.

Common Questions

Everything Coldwater Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a straight stairlift cost in Coldwater?

A straight stairlift in Coldwater starts at $2,800 installed. Final price depends on rail length, seat options, and whether your treads are original hardwood, carpet, or painted wood. Most Coldwater homes need a 12-to-15-foot rail, which keeps the total between $2,800 and $4,200.

Why are curved stairlifts more expensive in Coldwater's older homes?

Curved rails are custom-fabricated from a laser survey of your specific staircase. The steep, narrow layouts with tight upper-landing turns common in East Chicago Street and South Monroe Street Victorians require bends welded to match your exact angles. That fabrication process is why curved units start at $9,000 compared to $2,800 for a straight run.

Does All American Stairlifts offer financing in Coldwater?

Yes. We offer monthly financing starting at $79/month with approved credit. Many Coldwater homeowners use financing to spread the cost of a curved or heavy-duty unit over 24 to 60 months while keeping the install on schedule.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home in Coldwater?

Yes. Even in Coldwater's affordable market, selling a home, paying closing costs, and buying a new single-story property adds up to tens of thousands in transaction costs alone — before factoring in moving expenses and the disruption of leaving a neighborhood you have lived in for decades. A stairlift costs a fraction of that and lets you stay in your home.

A word from Luis

Coldwater has some of the most interesting staircase variety I see in southern Michigan. The Victorians along East Chicago Street and South Monroe Street have steep, narrow staircases with original oak or maple treads and ornate newel posts that I have to work around carefully when positioning a rail. These homes were built in the 1870s through 1900s, and the stairs are often steeper than modern code allows, which means the rail angle needs precise calibration for a safe ride.

On the other side of the spectrum, the ranch homes built along the US-12 corridor in the 1950s and 1960s often have split-level entries with just four or five steps — short runs that still matter when arthritis or a hip replacement makes every step painful. Newer builds near Coldwater Lake have standard two-story layouts with wide carpeted runs that are the easiest installs I do. I measure every staircase myself and give a written price before any work begins.
